  1. Many people did in the UK, then a few years ago it was recognised that it was 'simply clever' to fit the appropriate tyres for the seasons and the rip off ended, unless anyone was stupid enough to get ripped off when call handlers were making a decision and not an 'Underwriter', Broker or Insurance company.. 2011. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/217307-insurers-finally-support-winter-tyres A decade back. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/266226-winter-tyres-question-for-the-insurance-companies
  2. @nigelrtaylorHave you asked them the price of them carrying out the sunroof service? Maintenance is certainly required with sunroofs. What are they saying about the AC, is that due a service as well @2 years, then the Oil & Inspection Service. ? Could you service the sunroof yourself, maybe change the pollen filter as well and save yourself money? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/486731-sunroof-maintenance http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/487623-sunroof-maintenance-questions
  3. It might well be visibly rusty and a bit the worse for the wear looking.
  4. @JorgeminatorThey really do not behave similarly other than being automatics. I drove back to back last week a 1.5 TSI ACT DSG Kamiq and a 2.0 TSI DSG Karoq and they were exactly as i knew they would be which is chalk and cheese. I like DQ200 DSG's but it is not just the difference of a Dry Clutch DSG over a Wet Clutch DSG, there is the ACT or not, and the 100 or more BHP difference.
  5. @KenONeillhave you had yourself driving any car yet with Lane Keep Assist? What are the most recent Vauxhall or Stellantis cars you have driven?
  6. £17,000 is Clickbait & just spin. There are comments with that article which are correct. A VW e-Up! is over £23,000 & a SEAT Mii nearly the same.
  7. @sussambHas there been much Gritting / Salting done down your way this past couple of months? & is your car parked near to the seaside?
  8. It appears to becoming common for some Skoda cars. Some manufacturers have sorted out premature corrosion and that included Skoda, but we seem to be going back to the future. Time to start getting rust inhibitor on where there is bare metal in areas not see unless the bonnet is open. ? Is your car kept near the seaside?
  9. @Jorgeminatoryour car does not have a DQ381 does it and it is it on CNG, or is it a Mild Hybrid so behaves totally differently does it not? Is it a DQ200-e DSG in your car?
  10. Welcome to the forum. Doing 10,000 miles a year i would just get a 2.0 TSI and replace the Spark Plugs every 40,000 miles and the Cam Belt every 5 years if you want. (the 1.5 TSI ACT cambelt replacement is a ridiculous cost.) If the Catalytic Converter gets stolen let the insurance cover that expense. Diesels have Fuel Filters to replace, Cam Belt & Water pumps, regens to think of and the SCR / AdBlue system to take into account if that goes t!ts up.
  11. @StevesTruck When doing that assessment are you marked down if you just take a vehicle and drive it as handed over without checking and setting the tyre pressures and fluid levels? I drive one nearly every day and have done 50,000 miles and am just under 6 ft an have the seat fully back and at it's lowest as i use my left foot on the accelerator. My only issue is long right hand corners in towns and like 100 yards from my house where the A pillar is the blind spot. the mirror is no issue. There is a big difference with the 17" 205/ 45 tyres from 16" Michelin Primacy 4 ditch finders, and then the Electric Corsa or e-208 has different suspension. Any tyres on the 16 or 17 rims are likely to be better than the Primacy 4 ECO tyres. The Drop Links are shot on my car and it is rattling it's self to death, but the seating is dead comfortable and has to be as i spend many hours charging the car, about an hour for every 150 miles of driving.
  12. Inverness needs to be well served for EV charging. & choices of commercial charging as Highland Region Council have made it damn expensive to use the Council Charger network. No way will i be taking an EV around the North Coast 500 again. Rather enjoy a spirited trip with Super Unleaded or even 102 ron race fuel if doing a splash and dash. https://www.highland.gov.uk/news/article/15101/committee_approves_ev_charging_tariff_increase
  13. Not my Corsa or my accident but i was interested to see just how thin the metal work is.. This is not polishing out.
  14. You do not have to be taking it it easy to have 'coasting' operating, you can be driving as hard as you want and just have your toe off the accelerator and the clutches can disengage and you are rolling along while there is no load on the engine and then when you use the accelerator again you have drive again. That is as long as 'coasting' is enabled.
  15. You have a 1.4 TSI with a Cam (timing belt) and the Schedule / Recommendations / Guidelines from Skoda / VW UK is that replacement is at 5 years. That will be their response, Main Dealers response. You decide. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/458348-timing-belt/page/3
  16. @BobbymahonSo was that a rear wheel (hub) bearing?
  17. There needs to be consideration to what the aim really is, is it sharper handling on road and not lowered, or that occasional off road / farm tracks and trailer towing where some extra articulation is advantageous. Stiffer might suit the road but not off the asphalt.
  18. Guest_ replied to T-O-C's topic in Hellos and Goodbyes
Welcome. Just nosy but did it come with a full service history or a FMDSH and is it 5 years old yet? Just asking as the guidelines / recommendation is for the Cam Belt change at 5 years in the UK. Has that been done? EDIT. I have seen your post in the Karoq section now. So in the end have you been told the cost of a 1.5 TSI ACT cam belt replacement is only £555 approx? If a customer with a 1.5 TSI ACT booking in can get the job done by them for that price they will be pretty busy getting that work.
  19. So Skoda / VW group in the UK say the Timing BELT is due to be replaced at 5 years.

  21. September til March and Angus Council manage to have installed a couple of hooks for the charger cables to go on to reduce the trip hazard to those on foot. Temp barriers still in place at this new charger in Forfar, so much for the accessible charger next to a dropped kerb. So much for the use of the pavement behind the charger.
  22. @Ade74ukWelcome to the forum. Moan away. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/491197-anyone-actually-happy-with-their-mk4/page/7
  23. @StevesTruckIs it under 5 years old?
  24. That service interval shows for the cars when there was a filter in-line, MK2 Fabia and TDI,s. As with DSG,s it shows a service interval but Fabia have Dq200,s with no oil change interval. Simples really, don't worry about contaminated diesel when you have a petrol car. And don't buy European cars if you need a car suitable for Australia. Buy a Japanese or Korean.
