VRS Estate 2011 breaks and suspension
The problem with the Hillman Imp and other cars was they ran them for hours, days and weeks in testing. No use when you want to just start it and drive to work and drive home again, so heat up, cool down, then heat up and cool down and not warp the head or leak. So VW Group since going from air cooled engines have managed to procure or fit crap water pumps, timing chain tensioners, door and hatch seals etc for generation after generation of models and they fail to keep liquids in and other liquids out. Even now IT and 12 volt battery systems even for EV or Hybrids is crap and cars are being delivered with then knowing they are not fit for purpose. They cheated emissions, deny any failures and blame junior employees never the senior management or the board. They can have failures of many thousands on 1.4, 1.8 & 2.0 TSI / TFSI's yet spend years making out it is user error. They took IT in house, had problems had to recall VW's and then they put the software and hard ware into Skodas and delivered them and then start to find a fix.

Not if you have to buy replacement parts IMO. Improve the ride and handling with springs and dampers and a rear ARB. Any parts needing replaced. But only lower if you want to. I stuck with standard springs and dampers on hatchbacks because i got free take offs from people upgrading their cars.

There is transmission oils with a Tesla, Leaf's etc & pollen filters with EV's, also coolant. PS Finding EV Service Schedules is a load of fun. Even getting to know when EVHC,s are due. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504481-servicing-intervals

'Millions of miles of testing' I think not! http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/421365-links-to-lucifers-ultimate-guide-to-14-tsi-twincharger-engines This it is about the SEAT's first. SEAT often got to try stuff out, then models got old tech long after VW, Audi or even Skoda stopped getting it, and this was good tried and tested stuff while VW Group launched new generation tech with faults carried on from the last generation. So not millions of miles of testing / R&D or getting the basics right with Euro 5 Emission Twin Chargers, there were Euro 4 as they were in VW's with 140 / 160 PS, then is SEAT's with 180 ps and were having issues before they were used in the Skodas. They still introduced them in the knowledge there were fundamental design, manufacturing and material / part faults, and software / engine management. Even pretended there was not right up to discontinuing the first series of engines and introducing the updated / upgraded which they continued over some parts that were not right. Spark Plugs, Breather Pipes & Valves, Software Updates and ECU changes, Oil Spray Jets. Pistons, rings, scrapers.

@nta16 Because 225's were too much, they were on Audi A1's on 18" rims on 122 ps cars and i tried them. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/397377-18s-on-a-fabia-mk2 The TC / ASR goes off with a push of the button, hold a few seconds, but the XDS goes off with Track use or fast road use when the Brake Fluid and the System overheats. So you prepare for the track, and even reduce / disable the EDL / XDS so that there is less or no nipping of the brakes. Some members like in Norway even disable the ESP / ESC for winter or track. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/227295-who-needs-a-lsd http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/312119-vrs-stability-control-question http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/232730-xds-and-brake-mod http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/439937-esp-button

moving from Roomster to Yeti
Roomster Scout or Fabia Scout's are not AWD. 1.6 petrol Tiptronic cars are not that economic, but then there are no major issues. There was no Schedule for oil changes in the gearbox but 15 years on or even less some could do with a change. The Yeti in the link is nice and i like the black leather. I am surprised that it has not been snapped up already.

VRS Estate 2011 breaks and suspension
@nta16 Here we are talking Mk2 Fabia vRS Estate or even the hatch. 136 kW minimum and a DQ200 DSG. Pretty crap suspension & brakes from the factory, narrower tyres than the sister cars from VW, SEAT & Audi got, parts often shagged in 6 years let alone 12. They did the job and some might still have the original parts. Dealer fit option in the UK that people did as a Factory order was the Eibach springs instead of what Skoda called 'Sport suspension as OEM on vRS & Monte Carlos.

Cazoo Bother
I like the RAC Approved Used Dealerships and 92 point checks and 1 year Warranty & Road Side Assistance or option 4 year Warranty etc. Dealers can advertise the cars for sale as soon as dropped off & even before they even have them and having the 92 point inspection. Obviously they do at some point inspect the cars, put anything right & all is well. Cazoo have the cars there, have a socially inclusive employment policy which includes the employment of photographers and the visually impaired.

12 year old suspension on a Mk2 Fabia estate might well need a refresh. Engine and gearbox mounts as well. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/396672-vrs-suspension-upgrade-options http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504301-advice-appreciated-on-a-suspension-kit-for-my-mk2-vrs-estate http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/387552-fabia-ii-vrs-estate-suspension-modifications-hr-springs-or-ap-coilovers

Will seats from Octavia 3 fit a Superb IV?
@litehead Maybe find a car trimmer / upholsterer that can take you car and work on your seat / covers and make adjustments so that you have the lumber support or firmer seat cushion that you need. The car could stay looking standard or even you could upgrade possible at less expense than replacing seats.

Something not right
@Peebs101Is your friend with the business not a mechanic / motor engineer and with experience of diesels since he or she does tractors, lorries etc?

Cazoo Bother
Welcome. The problem with Cazoo seems to be Cazoo. So their inspections are kidology obviously. Return the car if you wanted a peach and got a lemon.

Something not right
Seems that you know what the issue is. Best have someone that knows these engines go over the work you have carried out. Did the friend write the new Engine Management / map or get it from someplace. It is them that you really need to talk with. More BHP & Nm's is great if it allows you to get up to speed quicker then coast and actually get better MPG's. So if the engine management / remap was fine & you drive sensibly still it will be your regens causing the extra use of fuel.

Welcome. The 215/40 R 70's are fine on the Gigaro. The tyre size is standard on Polo, Ibiza & A1 Twinchargers. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/280947-215-40-17-tyres http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/329818-2154017-tyre-pressures The rest of your stuff is general maintenance and upgrading and there is 12 years pf posts covering it in this section and in the Fabia Project Section.

Oil light
Are you saying the Yellow Oil Can light shows when the car is doing a Lights / System check, then going out? No low oil pressure red oil can light on.

DSG or not to DSG?
Yes, & for the 1.0 / 1.5 MHEV / e-Tech it is called the DQ200-e.

moving from Roomster to Yeti
Welcome. Looks good. Nice low miles. Servicing should be 5 years should have included the brake fluid changed at least once. If not paying extra for the 4 years RAC Platinum Parts & Labour Warranty i would be taking out a Skoda one in 12 months time. Check the T&C's of the 12 month RAC Platinum Warranty and that the DSG is covered & any claim for warranty, engine / gearbox etc is to the value of the car, or what the maximum claim is. I hope the wheel was replaced since the last MOT. Their RAC check and this MOT should flag that up again if not replaced.
