  1. Maybe this thread could just take a holiday like the Government & PM has until something new comes up like a press release from Renault UK.
  2. Manipulation as usual. Price Cap reviews to be quarterly and the next one before the new PM is announced. End of August. New PM 5th September then maybe within 24 hours the new Chancellor, Energy Minister etc etc . http://news.sky.com/story/very-challenging-winter-ahead-ofgem-says-as-it-confirms-quarterly-update-of-energy-price-cap-12665201
  3. Welcome. I doubt changing gear as the car indicates would improve fuel efficiency but you could always try and see.
  4. Customers in parts of Scotland have the highest tariffs and this has been how it has always been. Nearest to the Hydro, Nuclear and Coal and Gas power stations and now the renewables but then hydro was always a renewable. http://dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/scots-households-paying-higher-energy-27151668 'This average stuff is the usual nonsense.' http://dailyrecord.co.uk/lifestyle/money/scottish-energy-bill-payments-ranked-26583664

  6. @Gmac983 http://chargeplacescotland.org I charge a few hours a week free at Tesco to keep the battery topped up then i charge Free in Perthshire as i come back home to Angus where the council charge to charge. I get free electric down the west coast and have to pay going north of Angus or down the East coast going south. (so far managing to not pay too often as there are still a few free chargers around Fife.) 30,000 miles covered for less that £150 in 2 years. Green Hydrogen should become plentiful around Nigg and other coastal areas of Scotland but if there are filling stations only time will tell.
  7. Solar Canopies, a wind turbine, battery storage and an automated toilet 24/7 at charging hubs should be part of what is required by the UK Government & Local Authority planners. Good Mobile phone reception would be a bonus at many Hubs in Scotland. I really think there is a bit of an energy crisis coming this winter in the UK and the Government have no planning in place.
  8. Hydrogen used as the sole power source might not bother a Aberdeen / Aberdeenshire driver that treats their car like some do an EV City car.
  9. With the Arnold Clark one i would want to know what Servicing has been done and what is done now as in has cam belt been changed, because if not that is a costly thing to do shortly, have the Spark Plugs been replaced etc etc. Same with the Kirrie car as in what servicing has actually happened.
  10. Some in Cities can do without cars, actually the majority do. Location location location gives the opportunity to use public transport and maybe even cheap public transport. People get a call that there is a family emergency and can they get a shift on and they think, 'crap i have a EV with crap range and charging speed' but not to worry i am a city dweller. People might often head off and do 80 miles and even a bit more then want home. They certainly do in Scotland where the nearest cities are apart by about 55 miles, well with Glasgow & Edinburgh and if you want to head to Perth or on to Inverness or Aberdeen or further then charging is an issue. I have a crap 135 mile range and get asked to head off 80 miles or so without much notice, no big deal the car is charged up, the PITA is once there and getting charged and having to go places, then getting charged to get home. That really is a time waster around Edinburgh.
  11. Us poor or tight people will be using free 7kW chargers as long as we can but having a 22 kW on board charger would be handy. As to only having 22 kW and needing to be 2 or 3 hours on a charger if you do go on a bit of a trip would really be a PITA.
  12. I will have a look in past shortly and see how it looks. EDIT. A good looking example.
  13. No probs if you want. I am sitting charging car and going that way anyway. Just ask if you want. Just looked at advert on phone. I know them there.
  14. Was that Autosales? I am in Forfar. £10,995, grey. I can go look at it for you if you want.
  15. Location location location. Like maybe in Scotland and Christmas / new year holidays with people in car it can be a day or 3 till you get that replacement tyres. Same thing elsewhere in the UK where the tyre might not be in stock like sizes that VW Group SUV,s and others come with. But these are things that might not be an issue for many who just go with the flow, or maybe at 50 mph max in bad weather with lots of miles to do. Some carry 2 spares when using winter tyres.
  16. The usual crap. Could you not find a car in Scotland. Salesperson is rubbing hands with Joy there.
  17. If you have taken finance then I would say stop now to them. Take off all the extras that you are not wanting to pay interest on. Including the VED if that was extra. Then get the price of just the car. Car through the paint and prep and not all the crap. AC are terrible for wheel refurbs then odd crap tyres fitted. PS. VED can just be paid monthly to the DVLA.
  18. @colzoh just ask the salesperson to email you the service record they got when buying the car and the t&c,s of the service plan. I hope you never paid for paint treatment.
  19. People looking to buy a Skoda that are not members of Briskoda still look at Cars for sale in Briskoda and can join if they want to ask more. Even members look for cars from other members.
  20. MotorPoint are now one of Scotland's Sellers that are ones to watch closely as they can be as bad as Arnold Clark can be, but they do at least know what servicing should be done if they are putting a warranty on a car. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504396-car-supermarket-distant-selling-and-all-the-sales-crap
  21. PS How many miles has the car done? Are they doing the cam belt now or has it been changed?
  22. OK. ? Have you agreed to pay extra for a 3 year Serving deal and a longer Warranty? Get that Servicing for 3 years set out writing. What are they doing, Oil & Filter, pollen filter at 2 years, brake fluid at 2 years, etc. Doubt it! I bought a used car from AC Ayr with 2 years servicing and 2 MOTS. A gesture included in the purchase price at no extra cost as i was walking out the door and not 'signing on the day'. Ye right! 1 Year later and after 3,000 miles they failed it at the MOT on the broken spring and brakes that it had failed on before i bought it and that they then passed. The Service was an Oil & Filter service and they wanted me to pay for the Brake Fluid change that was not done when they had fitted the new brakes that was part of getting the MOT pass. *It never went in at year 2 and they got no money when i collected the car at the 1st service for the spring or discs for them trying it on as they were cheeky barstewards who had the spring and discs in the Recycle skip within 15 mins of phoning me to tell me the car i had dropped off had failed on the spring and brakes.* So the Service & MOT Vouchers T&C's needs reading. It is nice they give you it free, except it is not Free it is on the cars paperwork as part of their costs. Actually reducing the cars price would be a better deal than this kidology.
  23. @colzoh Enjoy the car. ? Who are you buying it from? Be sure the car is well serviced. It might need new spark plugs by now if it has not had them, the Pollen filter should have been changed in the past 2 years, check it to see if clean. Check the Air Filter, change if needed. Check the tyre pressures and reset the TPMS even if you do not change the tyre pressures. ....................... An idea of recommendations for servicing and maintenance that you get from Skoda.
  24. Welcome to the forum. Where ever you are in Scotland you will be adjusting it even if you have climate control. You will be increasing the fan speed to demist the screen. You will be needing AC on almost always to save from misting up and come winter if the AC is off because too cold outside you will be playing about clearing ice that has formed inside. The Systems fitted in a Skoda Fabia 2022 is no better than it was in 2017 or even 2008. KISS is just fine.
  25. So easy to chose the temperature you want inside the car and wait for the interior to get to it and if you want to increase or decrease it then just do that.
