  1. They are going to be very rare / scarce for a while yet in the UK and as for Asking Prices then someone might pay it & sometimes they are priced so that the car might not sell for a while but get social media posts. So they can not flog it until they get the nice tax break from HMRC / us. VW might even tell them to keep it longer if they can not get them another as a demonstrator until later in the year. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/505251-new-brochure-20th-june-2022-one-version-now-from-stock-only The crazy 'Asking' price of some Kodaiq & Enyaq mean that no matter the demand for cars they are still sitting unsold.
  2. 'They' are on a Jolly, on the Gravy Train. Having a nice time paid for by others. Without really letting the general public know and have them along to see the vehicles and get to know what it is all about it is like so much. That is taking the pith of actual Tax Payers of local councils and that pay into the treasury. Money that would be better spent going to charitable causes from some of those Sponsors and Partners IMO. I would like them to go and see if the Grantown on Spey charger has a new screen, if the Tomintoul charger is back working or the one in Aboyne or Braemar.
  3. VAT back on the Public charging is nice. Then there are those like the guy i was talking to during lockdown. He was doing work for the NHS and his employees did deliveries usually in Ford Courier vans that he was getting speeding tickets for often as they were 'Max Speed' restricted, rubbish for economy. He bought for them, not just leased lovely new prestige EV's to do deliveries in. The Scottish Government grant helped with the expense of vans and charging, & the HMRC / Tax Payer helped, then there is the free charging in Scotland that was available, then Commercial Public Charging was not an issue either with the VAT refunded.
  4. How old a car, what miles, when was the last service? What is your Service Plan, is it Fixed annual and a Minor and Major at 9,400 mile / 372 days, or do you think it is a Variable / Flexible so @ 18,000-20,000 miles / 24 months between services. Does your Service plan include Pollen Filter at 2 years, brake fluid @ 3 years, Haldex at 40,000 miles are are you paying for extras. It used to be Minor / Interim then Major on Fixed Service Intervals. Now it is Oil & Inspection Service and then Extended Scope @ 3 years then each 2 in some cases.
  5. I have seen posts and vehicles with disc issues where a car being 'roasted / thrashed with lots of braking and then stopping and the foot brake, parking / e brake being applied causing an issue. Also similar driving then driving through a ford. But very Spirited driving can cause many issues. Italian Tuning is the car salespersons way and also the Tech / Fitters way of cleaning up cars brakes. No real harm done as long as you warm the car / engine up then boot it. (Sadly not always the Car Salespersons way when there are a few cars sitting on the lot which are washed daily and the discs are red with rust.) The thing with Auto hold is that there is a light application of the brakes and unless the car moves just enough pressure.
  6. Who cares if they were on a track a private road or the Queens public highway. Afterburners were on and there were 'embers' or was that sparks!
  7. I was so looking forward to watching on Poverty TV and then on it comes with a Welsh an English & a Scotsman and my heart sank. OK as the Australian is there and hopefully the Scottish woman so less faf.
  8. @Goob What sort of budget. ? How about a VW Caddy Life or Maxi Life? Seat Alhambra / VW Sharan, you might find one with 1.4 TSI's and DSG. The good 1.4 TSI.
  9. The budget gets 2014 and newer cars up to 2018 if it is a 1.0 MPI. You can get a Mk3 1.2 TSI cambelt engine car.
  10. So big an event with so much support and money thrown at it that you might never have heard of it happening. http://gbevrally.co.uk http://gbevrally.co.uk/route http://gbevrally.co.uk/sponsors
  11. I like the cloak of invisibility and that without the green flash EV plate many would have no idea it is an EV.
  12. This is them. Recall actions, workshop actions, recalls. Service campaigns. The annoying ones are those that owners only discover if they have main dealer servicing or they see on forums / social media. The odd one is used cars from main dealers that get sold and the Recall action work was not done while they owned the car. PS. Prices have never been affected with VW lemons or known issues other than possibly with Fabia MK2 vRS twinchargers. That was not because of the DQ200 DSG. Just the engines issue that Skoda / VW are blind to. Even with over 20% failure of engines 2009-2012 ones and still some 2012-2014. They would sell an Approved / Used Warranty then say 'Known issue' and reject the claim because someone had questioned the high oil consumption and be told it was within tolerances, normal, they all are like that, then that becomes a 'Known issue', just not known by VW that had been replacing engines and even replaced engines needed replaced.
  13. LPG was super in the UK and cheap then retailers got rid of pumps. But Dacia now have LPG cars available in continental Europe and they were coming to the UK but suspend for now as there is a LPG shortage. Supposedly that is because no shortage in Scotland. Just a shortage of places selling it still.
  14. Just a small point on the 2009-2012 DQ200 DSG's That was not a RECALL started in May 2014. it was service campaign '34F7' (VW persuaded DVSA (VOSA at the time they could do a Voluntary recall action) and many Registered Keepers were never informed and hence DQ200's were missed and some that asked were told it did not apply to their vehicle. It was a World Wide Recall, but it Excluded Europe , Global REcall Started in 2012 as the press called it. In New Zealand it was called a Service Campaign but all DQ200's got a New Mechatronic Control Unit fitted, but then there were only hundreds of vehicles requiring them. In Australia it was a RECALL, and there have been 2 more since as cars were missed. Letter sent in 2014 to some Registered keepers or people on the Skoda / VW System.
  15. @Rob1984 Could you please tell me if i read your first post wrong. Was the car a Cat N write off? http://autoexpress.co.uk/tips-advice/99750/insurance-write-categories-explained-what-are-cat-n-and-cat-s-cars Not an issue if properly repaired and not MOT's by mates who have poor sight. You had more than a month with your consumers rights and th term of your warranty you bought matters. To have a warranty sold it is normal that a used car has an inspection of some sort like when they get a RAC Warranty with a 83 point inspection 'Done by the approved seller' ? Did you actually get sold a car that was needing an Oil Change? Has the car had servicing done and a record of it including the 'Coolant service campaign' as in the pinned thread at the top of the section?
  16. ^^^ That applies to engines of a certain ages and since in the Octavia Mk3 section maybe these. But for other models / generations 1.2 & 1.4 TSI's certainly had chains up to Euro 5's and chain tensioners were an issue. They might well have gone to belts.
  17. @Rob1984 You asked about warranty and said work was done. So how long have you had the car and who did you buy it from, a trader / dealer or a Skoda Dealership and what Warranty have you?
  18. Not even a Soft Roader let alone an off-roader. It is tyres and wheels that first need to survive potholes.
  19. A simple engine that should not be a problem if it has had regular oil & filter servicing and spark plugs when required.
  20. I gave you the bad news first. Skoda manufacture up to 2,500 DQ200 on good days for many VW Group applications, pre covid and there will not likely be even 10% with issues. Plenty here will have had good ones since 2015. At least you know what to be aware of with the DQ200's compared to other Auto's or DCT boxes that are not manufactured in this sort of numbers.
  21. They got it right with the Mitsubishi I-Miev. As they get older & there is battery health reduces they get lighter as they rust away. We know Aberdeen is not on the West Coast...
  22. Battery Shortage not going to be holding them back!. Well we will see. They will do just fine because the battery and motors might not be much more than the Engine / Gearbox weight which is being excluded. They do OK with a Bentley with Cylinder Deactivation that means half the cylinders not active and there is enough power to roll them along. They obviously will make a big deal about acceleration. If you have a wind turbine on your land that brings in £1/4 Million a year or even a farm of them then who cares about the cost or range. I know someone with a few turbines bringing in the cash, then a Public Charger that was Grant Aided and they had to give a Years free charging. They put an out of order sign on the charger. You do not get where they are by being generous.
  23. Welcome. They are Sealed For Life. But the Oil can be changed as happened with the World Wide Recall and the European Service Campaign from 2014 on DQ200's 2009-2012 where the Synthetic Oil was changed to Mineral. Some Dealerships actually tell owners a DQ200 requires oil changes and people have them and others choose to have oil changes. So there is no OIl & Filter Service Schedule or Guidelines / Recommendations. EXAMPLE. A VW DQ200 that had an oil change. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/505079-dsg-fault-possibly-being-ripped-off-by-garage People do get Warranty Cover on DQ200's. Best you read the T&C's in a Skoda Warranty. A 2013-2015 DQ200 should maybe have had Service Campaign '34H5' done which was started in 2017. A Software Update. Do not be surprised if you Buy a Warranty, (you are sold a warranty.) and if there was a claim you were then told there is a 'Known issue'. Obviously the issue is one of VW / Skodas making that they were supposed to have resolved. Same with the Slipping Clutches one from 2015 which a TPI covers but then that is how things go, confusion from Dealership Staff and the Manufacturers. (A DQ200 DSG can have a Mechatronic Control Unit failure and you may be told it is an Electrical Fault and excluded.) http://insurewithskoda.co.uk/extended-warranty If buying a Skoda Approved Used car from 2016 the 12 month or 24 month warranty better cover failure of a DQ200 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG with not Servicing requirements. That does not mean there will be lots of humming and heying and excuses and accusations of driver error. 36172_SKODA_Approved_Used_Warranty_Dec20_SINGLES.pdf
