I have on All Weather / Snow tyres all year and that can include high temperatures in a Scottish Summer. Not all £70 tyres will fall apart but some can. http://tyrereviews.com/Tyre/Apollo/Alnac-4G-all-Season.htm

2019 so not that old, but how many miles have they been on? That is what can happen with All Season (Winter tyres) used in warmer weather. Not all All Seasons obviously
  3. The build date / build week of the car will be interesting. Was it built in 2021 and waiting on parts to complete so has sat around for over 6 months already. It is a MY22 car. Skoda are moving their backend now to get cars completed and into the UK and First Registered before the factory goes over to producing MY23 cars but also the cars they need First Registered to achieve the 'Average Co 2' figures. Production might be slow later on this year and not enough 'Electrified' vehicles are First Registered to assist VW Group in the UK to avoid being fined. The Dealership / Supplier has an issue with this car in now and it getting first registered and then the Warranty being started and also paying for the vehicle. The Dealer Principal is the person to talk with and not just a sales executive.
  4. Those salespeople that look down their nose at you are funny. Lovely shirts / blouse / suit / outfit / shoes and they drive a demonstrator and treat you like dirt on their shoes if they think you are a tyre kicker / waste of time. Check them out on Linkedin if they are there and see what they have worked at. You do not get that up Aberdeen way where a young fisherman, farmer or offshore / oil workers onshore can afford what ever they want. A right jumped up youngster in lovely clothes was really cheeky to me in Perth at a prestige dealership while in checking out a car that a family member had already ordered. So much so that i made a complaint to the Director and Principal Dealer. Big minter for me as it turned out that the youth was the son of the Dealership Group owner and that was his Dealership.
  5. Never ever talk about trade in's. Never have them go look at your car and give a valuation. You look at buying a car, you look at the best price. No matter if finance you want the price. No free Service Plans or crap. Then when you get a price and it is not good enough, not cheap enough they start with the we can put a Service Plan in normally £299 but we will include it etc etc. If you want the car, you want the deal then you still walk saying you are going to think. You are not signing on the day. Then when they are no peeded off you might say'. Do you want to 'Buy' my car. But that is only after you have the cost of the car they are selling. You are not going on 'cost to change'. If you have to buy the VED then you do not add that to the finance, or add anything else to the finance. Just put the VED on monthly payment with the DVLA. ** It seems easiest to do a deal and your car goes to them and you get the new car when you drop it off.** That is costing you maybe a week wages or more for that easy deal. If they want your car to go and punt to WBAC or put away to a mate or auction and make money then you just do the same and advertise a sell it or go to a trader locally and ask if they want it.
  6. I will ask the question i ask every time a Survey result is posted about. ? How many members here with a Kodiaq contributed their opinion & experience to this survey? http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/499407-jd-driver-power-2021-karoq http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/504554-what-car-top-50-reliable-cars-kamiq
  7. How much of a deposit and paid to who? Ordered from who and do you have signed contract for delivery of a MY23 model for First Registration in September? They had no idea what it would cost then. Are you buying it with cash, finance or is it on a lease.
  8. They are muppets. I bought a Skoda Warranty. The girl at the dealership came in while on holiday and arranged it for me then and there. But then the commission available to her was well worth the effort and i put others to her as well. She really was too good to spend her days with a Skoda Dealership and VW and went to Mercedes and then was promoted quite quickly.
  9. Yes. You want the cars coolant up to temp, that is quick, then the oil to normal operating temperature, then relaxed drive, then some quicker driving testing the steering, braking. harshness of the ride. Remembering the tyres might be over or under inflated. 30 minutes is maybe enough depending on the location of the garage. Hopefully they have enough fuel in and can afford a gallon or so for roadtests. As it is that is all part of their overheads, they only pay tax on profits and every cost the incur from a car coming in until sold and paid for is itemised anyway. My heart bleeds for them as car Sales People....
  10. Internal corrosion. Full synthetic has / had a lot of sulphur. They said it was only in the high humidity countries, said not an issue in Europe, but then Europe can have the same weather as New Zealand. http://australiancar.reviews/reviews.php#!content=recalls&make=Skoda&model=Octavia&gen=824 It meant there was a World Wide Recall of over 5 million vehicles with DQ200's from 2009-2012 and they had the factory Synthetic OIl changed for mineral oil & a software update. **In New Zealand a new MCU was fitted.** Then 2 years later a Service Campaign in Europe changing the Synthetic oil for mineral and a software update. http://autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/vw-uk-why-we-dont-need-dsg-recall 7 months later VW Group do a voluntary Recall Action because they told VOSA who became the DVSA that no Recall was required. Then cars from 2012 had issues and the DQ200 DSG had heat and pressure issues and again a Software Update. Many other parts issues since the original 2012 Global Recall.
  11. I am not seeing anything really that is not a bucket of crap. Lots of cars reserved and garages / used car sales locally at a bit more money. A £2,500 'asking price' 2009 car not far away at a Garage (trader) that is has a good reputation is less of a gamble / lottery. Peugeot 207 1.4 Verve 3d 74 BHP. 74,240 miles. I will just link the garage as i phoned someone i know that was looking for a car but they do not want a 3 door. This is a clean car i would have no worries about any of my family driving. http://towercarsabernethy.co.uk/used-peugeot-207-abernethy-perthshire-4411257 EDIT / PS The Front Subframe Corrosion is something needing looked at and obviously the seller is a MOT Station. But then any car from Scotland or elsewhere at this money needs close inspection and bought with a NEW FULL MOT.
  12. That is fine then with your low mileage so far. But this was meant as general post and not specifically about your car. Anyone remapping a car really should check plugs before hand. even upgrade but that is not an issue with your engine.
  13. I have had only Autos & Semi Auto's for over 40 years and just about every type, as far as recent years it is Ford you need to bother about or VW Group. Maybe see if you can find a Suzuki Model with a suitable engine and then you need not worry about the automatic. Even if a CVT one. But then if you have tried Nissans with a CVT then maybe avoid. Kia /Hyundai Automatics are not a concern or Toyota ones.
  14. Best find one from a neighbour or adverts in the shops in Blairgowrie. She does not need to go far to find a car beyond Perth, Dundee and area. Blairgowrie & area has plenty cars usually for sale but the demand is high for low priced ones now. She just needs a Smallish FWD car and with good tyres for the winter so good if already fitted. I will see if i can spot anything in her budget. The roads get ploughed, if the snow gates at Blairgowrie or Glenshee are closed they are closed. AWD is not necessary and any good ones are snapped up anyway. Flooding is more of an issue than snow.
  15. Every TSI benefits from getting Spirited driving occasionally. Actually a roasting. Engine oil up to temp to be sure condensation is getting a clear out, all well and then the oil hot the spark plugs get a nice clean and are hot before cooling down. Soot / Carbon burned off spark plugs that might be that way from short trips. If checking spark plugs take a car as long as no mis-fires or poor running and thrash it, (do not check out a cars mis-fires by risking giving an italian tune up without taking the plugs out first..) So get the plugs hot with some spirited driving, then stop and let them cool and remove. See if all is good with all 4. Not too rich, not too lean. If any sooting or oiled up, & still showing you know with what cylinder / cylinders. Check the Gap as well as inspect. Since they are out there might as well be new ones put in unless they were replaced or checked pre REmap.
  16. @EnterName Best you study a bit more or just read the Owners Manual on GPF's because they are not the same as a DPF.
  17. If the car runs fine, the dpf is not clogging then the 5w 40 FS to VW502 00 is perfectly fine. VW Group went to 5w30 FS III much the same as now for WLTP / RDE they went 0w 20 FS IV. Get the emissions / economy. But then Euro 5 TDI's they cheated anyway. Then there was the other cheat that is supposedly a Internet Myth about the old tests. They sometimes put diesel in the engine oil of the cars that had covered 3,000 km before they were on the Rolling Road getting tested.
  18. Skoda badge is the first deterrent. High risk of theft are Mk1 Fabia, Octavia etc. Being a Mk4 Octavia as any respectable thief will know of possible Software issues. If the car does not start it could be a Security System or maybe a PHEV / iV with a flat 12v battery.
  19. Read your post. You stated you had a 2019 68 plate Octavia DSG and it exploded.at 40,000 miles. The DSG never exploded. But @lichfielddriverit was fitted to a crap 1.6 TDI. Some crazy 20% failure rate suggested here which is nonsense. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/502054-i-am-the-1-in-5 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/502505-engine-failure So a DQ200 DSG but there the similarity stops.
  20. As well to know the current situation in the UK. http://carwow.co.uk/blog/uk-towing-laws#gref Changed Rules / law from last year in the UK. http://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-rules-for-towing-a-trailer-or-caravan-with-a-car-from-autumn-2021
  21. @lichfielddriver If the DSG exploded why would they fit a new engine FOC? Your engine was what expired was it not and Fabias do not get diesels since they stopped doing the 1.4 TDI. Your DQ200 DSG was fitted to the diesel so really nothing to do with a 2022 Mk4 Fabia with a 1.0 or 1.5 TSI as how they will perform. @AnnoyingPentiumHe has been pretty unlucky with the Superb & Octavia used as taxis.
  22. Go to dealers , traders, car supermarkets at a quiet time and tell the sales people you would like to look at cars for sale and maybe have a test drive. If they start the offers of a drink, where are you going on holiday and come over as your best friend then make your excuses and leave. If there is a car you like and they need to keep asking the manager to give you a big bargain because you are lovely tell them to get on their bike.
