  1. Construction & Use is the issue making them road legal and having them Registered and with a Reg Number. But anything is possible.   2. Just GPF worries for some sometime in the future far away if they are doing lots of short runs from cold starts. But it will be a few years still before we here more about the earliest cars & GPF's, only a few reports so far of those with issues.
  3. @AMcK The 2 year Extension to the Manufacturers Warranty can be started as long as the Car has not been First Registered in the UK. No need to take anything other than what you want. New car with 5 year warranty. The Dealership Staff must know that. THEIR ERROR, SO IF THEY CAN NOT ACTION IT NOW, THEY NEED TO SUCK IT UP AND COVER THE FULL COST OF THE WARRANTY YOU WANT. ? Has it been first registered already?   4. Something wrong where those with a Driving Licence can get 6 points and a fine, but obviously those without a licence can only be fined. But then licence holders know the risks.

  7. @Kier4 Monte Carlo Estates with DSG might be difficult to find if it has to be a Monte Carlo. Other trim level 1.0 TSI DSG might be easier to find. Up to you what is important like manual /DSG, ACC etc.
  8. @RobM. Enjoy the car. ?what tyres are on the car? Have you gone to check the pressures and reset if required and reset the TPMS?
  9. Skoda First Registrations in the UK was picking up as they are a pretty low volume seller in the UK. A few years back they were celebrating 'Selling' 80,000 a year while the biggest 'Seller' VW or Ford could 'First Register' that with just one model. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/features/winners-and-losers-2019-uk-car-market The issue with the SMMT is they talk about 'Sales' & First Registrations, well many are First Registered to Dealers and are owned by the Manufacturers / VW Finance etc. That is to have them in the Top Ten. They are then sold as Used, Ex Management / Demonstrators. That manipulates the Used Values. Thousands of cars cheaply Leased / Loaned to the NHS, Car Hire Firms, Utility Companies, Driving School Franchises etc. eg. Fiesta & Corsa being the highest number First Registered in the past 2 years when there was Lockdown & Furlogh. They do have buyers & people leasing, but there are lots on the roads and lots sitting on Main Dealers lots nearly new or pre-registered.
  10. Not necessary with a DSG if 'Autohold' is enabled to put in neutral as long as you have your foot off the accelerator or brake, the car is held there. If the Stop / Start is enabled then in D with 'Autohold' touching a pedal will fire up the engine, and if the engine is running you can just move off. If you want to use N and the Parking Brake / E-PB then you can. Just as you can have Stop / Start functioning if you want. Some VW Group vehicles have the brake lights on when 'Autohold' is functioning and some do not have them on. ..................   12. The Clutch pack of the DSG should certainly not be smelling and putting into S and seeing how long it holds on to gears will do no harm. But the brakes are still being Run in or Driven in if Skoda still call it that in the owners manual. So you are wearing in the pads and discs and the newness is still on the tyres. ?   14. Some cars just need the button pressed once and then Lane Keep Assist is off, and others need messing about on a screen because VW claim they can not be allowed to be switched off easily / quickly. We will see which Skoda have on the Mk4 Fabia.
  15. Love it, works great on cars where it works great. Not even necessary to put off in winter on roads with snow on them. It does show you how often you might be wandering across roads or lanes as you go for sweets, radio stations, checking how far you need to go before running out of electricity.
  16. I think they will sell very well to people buying a car as a keeper before New Type Approved cars need the new EU safety features that will be mandatory. Just the right amount of equipment people can opt for if they want but still some physical controls and a manual parking brake. Nothing too out there in the way of servicing and maintenance required and engines and gearboxes that should last many years. Hopefully lane assist is as it should be and all the software stuff that Skoda seem to be having issues with in some Octavia & Superbs. Scala & Kamiq's are there if people want a bit bigger without going as high roofed as a Karoq.
  17. Vauxhall only charged £400 extra on cars with the Winter Pack that included 'All Season Tyres'. Isuzu have the option of BFG Goodrich 'All-Terrains' or KM2's. Option with the Vauxhall Combo Life MPV 5 or 7 seater or the Van.

As @KenONeillSays, the high RRP vehicles Motability Finance are often very well discounted by Manufacturers wanting them first Registered, like £32,000 plus RRP's costing them £24,000 and 3 years later selling @ BCA for £14,000 plus. Motability has received near £9,000 from the person leasing plus any Advance Payments. They were dead generous this year and paid back £50 to people this year for money saved on the Group Insurance. Lots of high priced EV's on the Motability list currently as manufacturers are desperate to get them First Registered. Low Advance Payments on them. Examples this quarter.
  19. @lol-lol what Fabia do you have? Nice vid review just posted today in the MK4 section on a 1.0 TSI DSG. VW announced they were done with downsizing engines but then had nothing else ready to meet low emissions so have had to keep with them until they can get electrification done across the board. Sadly still no small EV ready so the e-UP needs to go on a while longer. EDIT, i see Mk2 1.4TDI. I enjoyed driving a Niro with the 1.6 engine and hybrid. Just a size / class /price up from the Clio Hybrid, & more room than a Captur.
  20. The best people to compare wear will be those with the same car as @Greezy56 with the same tyres and that drives in the Glasgow area. They might drive very differently than the OP and have the tyres at a different pressure but they are on similar asphalt and weather conditions. @EnterName my rather heavy 1,500 kg Corsa EV came on the totally crap Michelin Primacy 4 that many do to give longer range by having little grip. The were changed week 1 for CrossClimates but when the snow came on went Michelin Alpin 6. They will stay on for the next 2 years until the car goes back. 10,000 miles on they are wear free. I have CrossClimate SUV,s on my Shogun and I down sized the width from 285 to 265 wide, sadly they are pretty crap on snow but fine on dry, wet and not icy conditions.
  21. I understand that. I have had 3 ex police vehicles and none were standard. A Ford Granada 2.8 V6 Auto, a Granada Scorpio 2.9 V6 auto and a Volvo S60 5 Cylinder auto. It had police spec suspension and the engine that was in it before it got replaced was tuned.
  22. @a1topdog Anyway you can find out who maintained the car back when it was in service and if it ran the factory engine management / map or it had a bit of tuning? Or maybe as many police vehicles had, a K&N filter was used just incase the car got driven into big puddles.
  23. Surely Fuel efficiency and low emissions if genuine and achievable in the real world and not just under WLTP / RDE2 is more imported than turbine powered forced induction.
  24. As long as they have after 12 years or more managed to build the DQ200's for use in every applications as good as is possible then all should be well. The Software seems to be the recurring issue over the time DQ200's have been produced other than when there were suspect clutches procured. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/492757-dsg-long-term-reliability It takes time before you find out how a manufacturer gets on with Long Term Reliability, like over 3 years needs to pass before you know how they are when out of Manufacturers Warranty. VW seem not to be prepared to put a 10 year warranty on the DQ200 which has not scheduled servicing. Back in 2013. VW group have had plenty time then to have the e-Tech's as good as they can 8 years later.
  25. The DSG should have a record of the DSG having had an oil change 26,000 miles ago or more miles back than that, and the Haldex should have been properly serviced twice by now.
