Octavia MK3 1.4 TSI Remap
^^^ They probably know their UK customer base and Mokka were one of the highest sellers or first registration cars, leased to lots of people and owned by Motability and leased out for 3 years. As are many Vauxhall models. Millions must drive them and many might go to Esso but do not think BP, Shell, Gulf etc are for them and they would never buy supermarket fuel that is produced by the same supplier as ESSO fuel.

Octavia MK3 1.4 TSI Remap
Fuel buyers in the UK are often so unaware of what they are buying. Which depots or ports or refineries it come from. If it is base fuel arriving in the UK or from UK refineries with Cracking Plants. They might not know when the Spring / Summer formulation is delivered to filling stations in their area or if they have Winter grade which is less hygroscopic and might be higher than the minimum Octane. The winter grade petrol can sometimes be in the UK filling station tanks later in the spring than in parts of Continental Europe. ESSO Super Unleaded delivered in the UK is not the same formula all over the UK.

Service
Many decades ago mechanics, fitters or apprentices started greasing door, boot or hatch hinges and putting petroleum jelly on battery terminals at services. It saved the customers from doing it because that was what they were expecting done when paying others to service and maintain their vehicle. Like when grease guns were required as there were grease nipples of places to lube. They had all the gear, all the right grease or oils and they were trained on how to maintain a vehicle for use in the UK through the seasons.

Octavia MK3 1.4 TSI Remap
Royal Dutch Shell and Greenery that supply Tesco Momentum and Esso Super Unleaded in much of the UK are partners in importation and storage and distribution in the UK. As to the additives, detergents and anti foamers etc there is so much nonsense and hype about that and the super unleaded. The 99 or 97 octane with others is the minimum figure you are buying. Any tanker delivery can **** up deliveries but then it is thousands of litres and hundreds of customers might get fueled wrongly. As to Royal Dutch Shell as bad fuel there has not been as bad a co-ckup as when they introduced the new Formula and wrecked many an engine. The bio added will be up to the max figure and not above. If anyone ever worried about bad fuel being purchased these days there is social media and finding other customers that used the same filling station as you is dead easy now. Tracking of fuel and any filling stations where the wrong octane goes in tanks is easily found out. After all the filling stations pay the tax and duty as the fuel is delivered and then the customers are paying tax and duty to them. I know of one filling station that during a fuel shortage sold 95 Ron as Shell V-Power Nitro +, it was not very long until some drivers with cars that so not like running on 95 were back as t the station and demanded refunds, compensation and basically the balls of the greedy aid that owned the place. EDIT / 2022 update now on E5 Super Unleaded.

Service
It is at 3 years they repeat things they say is part of the oil and inspection service and open their eyes and spot more than they bothered looking at for the first 30 minutes with the car. Look at Skoda fixed service and maintenance menu it shows you. Sorry can not link it just now.

Service
@Faly what engine and gearbox has it and what does the service history show as ever done in the dealership network and what had been done outside it according to any invoices or receipts. A Service History in the first 3 years can show how little night be done at Main Dealerships at services. PS. I imagine a dealership would love the work. Another pollen filter, plugs or fuel filter, air filter. AC service. Brake fluid change, Fuel treatment, brakes 80% worn. Etc etc. I would find a good Independent and get what it needs over and above and oil change and not be charged £600 plus.

What does it all mean? Electrics and steering pull and alignment…
Take it up with your insurer. The body shop that was approved to do the work should have included in the price they had approved by the insurer full electronic check and alignment of steering as and then before doing bodywork could have had full alignment checks done. They under quoted for the job that they had to do.
-
Ease of servicing
It is easy enough for the fitters with a NVQ at dealerships to replace parts the same as any competent DIYer can, or sometimes just to tick as checked and just ignore the more difficult stuff.

Summer or all-season tyres? Hankook Kinergy 4S2 vs Vredestein Quadtrac Pro?
Blackcircle or ATS Euromaster can often supply Michelins quicker than others because Michelin own both of those retailers.

Insurance for EU imported Octavia II
Seems to be much like the same spec then as would have been going to the Irish Republic in 2012 except they are right hand drive. That was and is an EU country, but then the UK that was also in the EU but used another name for spec, but then the spec for Ireland and that for the UK spec often differs. No help though, sorry.

Spare tyre for 2014 Mk2 105BHP TDI 195/55/15 - will a full size and jack fit?
Any wheel / tyre of the correct size for the car goes in the spare tyre well and so will the tools. If the wheel / tyre does not match exactly the one on the same axle then treat as a emergency spare and slow down. Even if there is no warning sticker. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/461276-spare-wheel-for-mark-2-fabia

Vauxhall Corsa electric 2020 Fault (maybe faults) in first 6 weeks & various over the next 3 years.
I can confirm that the visit to Arnold Clark for the software updates / recall action have resulted in no changes other than the car has been washed. I declined the vacuuming. I can be certain on that because there was no EV trained and qualified tech available to do the updates. Par for the course with Arnold Clark. I await the Customer Satisfaction survey.

Bio Fuel - Effect on fuel economy
E10 can be sold before September 2021. But it needs sold as such with clear signs showing it is E10. I bought E10 in 2009 at Morrisons in Dundee when they were introducing it Unfortunately I was driving a new 1.6 diesel auto Hyundai with 50 miles on the clock and my mate was the one that pumped in the petrol and I was in the kiosk getting stuff and ready to pay. PS, they did B30 diesel back then.

Which one?
Welcome. Best test drive a 1.0 TSI DSG Octavia estate. You might be pleasantly surprised. Then you have the 1.5 TSI DSG that might suit.

Vauxhall Corsa electric 2020 Fault (maybe faults) in first 6 weeks & various over the next 3 years.
8am appointment and as expected with Arnold Clark the reception does not open until 8am. Car went to workshop at 8 30. So also as expected 'reception' knows nothing, and calls the 'Not called to tell you there is a service campaign a Recall'. Obviously they say just a software update, well 2 actually, and nothing will change that I will notice. We shall see. Is it the touch screen that needs touched at least twice everytime you want something. And more important is it the false warning of the need for emergency braking. I hope it does not sort the KESSY which I am happy does not work most of the time as I like pressing a button on the fob to open / unlock the car and to lock it again

Bio Fuel - Effect on fuel economy
That might be because at anytime the 95 Ron with up to 10% bio might get delivered but Trading Standards should be right on them on that one. If the customer is getting E5 presently then that is what they should display. Stickers at the kiosk to be slapped on the pumps would take staff no more than 20 minutes at the time a tanker arrived to fill tanks with E10. Tesco or others do not display the prices of fuel as they might be tomorrow, next week or next month.

Vauxhall Corsa electric 2020 Fault (maybe faults) in first 6 weeks & various over the next 3 years.
What really pees me off is when drivers / keepers find out about Service Campaigns / Recall Actions / Software Updates on their vehicle via Social Media or word of mouth but not from the Manufacturer or the Dealership network because they do not contact you yet cal these 'Service / Workshop Campaigns RECALL's. Car is going in to get these but i await an explanation of why and what for. Hopefully settings i have taken ages getting a i like will not need re-set, but i fully expect they will.

Rear brake wear.
My experience of a passenger in my 2016 Alhambra 2.0 TDI DSG pulling on the e-Brake by mistake at about 30 mph in town on a wet road was the arse was pulled along the road like a dog wiping its rear end. Then my error when looking for £1 coins in the Airport Drop off point & pulling on the e-Brake at about 15mph on the concrete floor. One £1 coin was in the e-Brake bit. I was fishing it out while driving. Again the wheels locked at the back and lot of people looking to see what the noise was all about.

Bio Fuel - Effect on fuel economy
But in winter spec fuel those that used ethanol as an octane booster reduced it as it is hygroscopic. You pay to buy fuel and energy, if E10 produced less energy then that is an issue but fortunately it has the same Ron / Mon. 97 and 99 super unleaded are the minimum they can put out the pumps as is 95 Ron. If more fuel is required to cover the same miles when using E10 then that is not 'greener' as it takes more tankers to deliver more fuel to filling stations.
-
Rear brake wear.
The e-brake / parking brake only applies the rear brakes. When stopped 'autohold' applies the brakes.

Bio Fuel - Effect on fuel economy
Some of the E10 threads from the not distant past. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/490693-e10-fuels http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/478785-e5-to-e10-petrol-and-skoda-vw-engines-ok-with-e10 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/479590-e10-fuels http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/4724443-e10-petrol @Kenrw8 You need to be careful when starting Internet Myths. I take it you mean 'Cars pre 2011 'may' have ignition issues. Not 'will have'. Many millions of cars pre 2011 are perfectly OK running E10 before manufacturers had to produce engines that could. ? Are Tesco really displaying misleading or false information on pumps now on E10 being what is being delivered. What about the Octane, is it showing 95 octane (min) for Unleaded and 99 Octane (min) for Tesco Momentum 99. The same 95 ron for Tesco Unleaded be it E5 or E10.
