  1. '2 million to draw up plans. not to design a scheme, that comes later.' That will be right, pass some palms with silver. They will be scheming now how that can be spread among a few. UK will lead the World. 2017. Well that never happened. Billions has been creamed off already.
  2. No. VW wag the UK' / EU Governments tail. 3 Years Manufacturers, and you can get the 2 years extended, or buy the 'Approved Warranty'. But there are those with the Skoda Extended Warranty in Mk2 Fabia with DQ200 DSG that have had claims knocked back. They sell the Warranty then say 'Known Issues' Known by them. The Oil change makes no difference to maybe needing Clutch Packs replaced and MCU's still fail or the Accumulator. There are repair kits available now, but still Dealership employees saying a new Mechatronic Control Unit required when it might not be. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/495945-dsg-gearbox
  3. @wyx087 That charger is my nearest saves driving a mile away and back to maybe get on 1 of 4 but that is an option. The e-Golfs that are local and when the drivers are working use their own cables on the posts / slows & get 100 % of a charge or go on the AC on the charger. It is only e-Golfs i have seen so far on Tesco Free Charging. 2 cars in over a year at the local Tesco.
  4. For the 1.2 TSI any oil from any manufacturer to VW 504 00 will do for fixed or variable service intervals. That will be 5w 30 Full Synthetic Long Life. / 5w 30 FS III. You can use 0w 30 FS III is you want. For Fixed Services you can use VW502 00, so that is 5w 40 FS. Not Long life oil, but maybe better for a longer lived TSI. From ASDA / Tesco, Comma or any oil will do, as will Fuchs / Quantum or others. There is enough cleaners / detergents in the oil and in the unleaded these days. Maybe even too much. Soon we will be on e10 petrol in the UK unless buying Super Unleaded.
  5. When the MG Estate is available with a larger battery that will be suitable for many as they will be sensibly priced. I have seen more being used as taxis in the recent weeks.
  6. @poseidonEven if the same tyres / brand at the front why not try swapping front wheels / tyres with the rears. ? Does increasing or dropping the tyre pressures by a few PSI change the noise? EDIT. Sorry missed the 'Already been changed F for R.
  7. I have yet to hear anyone i talk to that drives a BMW i3 for work or domestic, pleasure / leasure moan or complain about their range or charging speed or comfort. They are a very well built vehicles that had become very expensive and yet overnight dropped thousands of quid because the UK Government changed the grant so BMW got them to under £35,000. (i have heard plenty with a MINI moaning about the range of their BMW MINI, but in the main they knew that before getting them.) Big & Fugly and people will be leasing/ subscribing in lots of numbers.
  8. £35,000 is low, but then overnight the likes of BMW managed to reduce RRP's at or over £40,000 to £35,000. Even the VW Group including Skoda managed to get the Prices down overnight. The Grant was more of a perk to the UK Motor Industry /Dealers than to Customers or the Tax Payers of the UK not with EV's. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/491508-electric-car-grant-reduced-cap-now-£35000 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/478982-grant-for-evs-cut-in-2020-uk-budget-then-without-notice-changes-introduced-on-the-18th-march-2021 EV Grants for England / Wales or those for Scotland are just a wee google away.
  9. Bump for anyone that might want to change the oil in a DQ200, (page 11) or that might want to check if they have issues and want to see if a TPI covers theirs.
  10. The thread is here on the Famous DQ200 DSG Clutch Slip & i think page 11 shows the Oil Change. The DQ200 DSG World Wide Recall on 2012 had 2009-2012 DQ200s get the Synthetic Oil changed from Synthetic to Mineral and a Software Update. Thousands still run the Synthetic or the Mineral. 2014 Europe got this as a Service Campaign. Then there was the Software Update on ones from 2013-2015, then the TPI's that the aforementioned thread covers. Millions of DQ200's from 2012 are running the Factory Filled Oil, because that is perfectly fine. If you want you can change the Oil, both oils. VW Group do not make a recommendation to. If giving advice on certain service items best get familiar with them. Too many in VW Group Branches are not. Millions of DQ200 built on since 2009 for application in over 50 vehicles and millions of DQ200 recalled and tens of thousands of failures and VW Group have never changed the 'No Service Interval'. In 2012 they did increase the Warranty in Countries the courts / Government Agency would tear them a new hole to 100,000 miles / ten years. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/315115-service-campaign-dq200-dsg-oil-changeecu-update-fabias-in-uk http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/425424-2017-another-dq200-7-speed-dsg-service-campaign http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/473213-another-dsg-recall-today-sorry-if-already-posted
  11. More easy hiring of Alternative Fuel Vehicles are required Nationwide, and collect and drop off, or turn up with a vehicle needing charged and drive off in another. BMW were the ones that were going to have Hubs where you drive in with your or your leased vehicle and drive out with another, car, van, motorcycle you are borrowing. The New Subscription Schemes that the Government and the Government Special Friend that helped in supplying the money to pay for 10 (11) Downing Streets redecoration is behind will lead to ease of changing vehicles that are on rent.
  12. Angus Council have Dozens of EV's on lease sitting doing nothing lots of the time, and no Car Club arrangement allowing them to be hired by the public when available like over night, holidays / festive season etc like other Local Authorities do. There could be Hydrogen Cars and Vans as well as Electric Ones available to Employees & the Public and Hydrogen Filling Stations like in Aberdeen. I think as Honda leave the UK the possibility for more affordable Hydrogen Vehicles for the UK will reduced. All sorts need developed and invested in. Hydrogen Commercials make more sense for those needing towing ability and load carrying and not just the likes of Commercial EV's that can not travel City to City if that means more than 120 miles. If they are to do that distances they need guaranteed rapid charging facilities to be able to allow them to keep on working.
  13. It does. Clearly but not clear enough that is 6 or 7 Speed Wet Clutch DSG's like DQ250 or DQ380's with 40,000 mile oil change intervals or DQ381's and 80,000 mile. But here we are looking at a DQ200.
  14. You should have been asked if you wanted the Variable / Flexible Service Interval from the factory changed to Fixed Servicing. If you are near the Supplying Dealership i would have them clear that service indication, or if they say they can not then they can pay to do the Service for being chancers. They should never be let off with trying to be at it.
  15. ? Why set up a Service plan? You are only needing 1 service.
  16. The DQ200 DSG has no service schedule/ recommended oil change interval or even a need to change either of the 2 oils. Leave well alone if all is well. Do not have anyone mess with it unless they have all the gear and more than ideas. People do change their oil but then they have reason to. Best let sleeping dogs lay. Prices are ridiculous, best find a good Independent and get work done not just ticked off and lots of up-selling attempts.
  17. The Renewable Energy Producers do not want to change easily generated electricity to hydrogen to then put into vehicles, they want to be able to have electricity stored in vehicles and vehicle to grid. They want Hydrogen used to heat buildings, be used efficiently when it is used, and they do not want to store large amounts or be moving it around in hydrogen powered tankers at sea or by road. Synthetic Fuels require huge amounts of electricity to produce, just as Diesel / Petrol and other fuels or petrochemicals do. Grangemouth requires Oil & Gas from the North Sea and Gas from the US just to run the refinery and cracking plant. They generate their own electricity from oil & gas to produce liquid & gas fuels. ............................................. This is what 132 Solar Canopy parking places with 70 EV charging points looks like in Scotland. Only issue is not enough Rapid Charging points but that will get addressed. Government / Local Authority / Public funded, not a commercial enterprise.
  18. Maybe you can not use where you drive or need to charge, but there are reps driving many hundreds of miles daily and weekly that are doing just fine. They pay less taxes and even charging at the most expensive public chargers they save hundreds of quid a month compared to the diesels they used to drive. I meet them all the time. It is a lifestyle change, they have to decide what to do with the extra cash they have now.
  19. I watched War Factories last week and it was about Germany and WW2 and the production of Synthetic Fuel and the Hydro Power Generators that were built for Hitler and how much the Allies wanted these sites destroyed and the US Oil / Fuel producers wanted all trace of them to gone after the war, and any thought of synthetic fuels. @Pagan-Image Business users & individuals leasing or even buying EV's have the Warrantied Life of Batteries to deal with worries. Then there is real life and not just 'myths'. You need to go look in the EV section here and the Vids and links to the over 10 year old EV's getting new Batteries fittted, or new cells and they live on. Older EV's that have more issue with rust than they do with Motors or Batteries. Then the modern batteries & Motors going into Classic Vehicles to give them a new life. Hydrogen Vehicles are doing pretty well in the North East of Scotland where Hydrogen fillups are possible and where there is so much Electric Generation going to waste if not used and no way of storing other than producing Hydrogen with it. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/440073-first-hydrogen-taxi-in-scotland-aberdeen http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/455800-hydrogen-fuel-cells
  20. In GREEN was 2 years back on cars 3-10 years old on Fixed Servicing this was what a Interim Service cost @ Participating Dealers. & a Oil & Filter Service was only £99. But a new car 1 year old does not require an Interim Service unless the Owner Driver wants to have one and that leaves them at the whim of Dealerships for what is charged, or what they will actually do. Charging more to do less seems to be very common.
  21. How many miles has the car done? Did you ask the supplying dealer to change the car from Variable / Flexible service @ 24 months / 18,000-20,000 miles to Fixed Servicing @ 372 days / 9,400 miles or sooner? When your car is leased then you better check the T&C's on Servicing. The owners want the Service History on the VW Group system. If the car does not need an Inspection Service / Oil Change at 1 year /9,400 miles then do not have anyone do it. There are Independents with Licensed Equipment that can upload to the system and that get Recall or Service Campaign / TPI's for the vehicle. Avoid Halfords or any other service Centres with a car you do not own, or even one you do. The Car is asking for an Inspection Service, that is because that is how it was set up at the PDI. Not required, as it is on Variable Flexible Servicing. The Dealerships need to sort this stuff out. To much Confusion going on.
  22. Scottish Water will need to be replacing their Kangoo EV's which they have had for over 3 years. Pretty pathetic range like many of the Local Authorities Light Commercial where carry tools and stuff is an issue because the range in winter is so pathetic. http://cenex.co.uk/news/filling-the-gaps-in-the-electric-an-market
  23. So towing is a red herring. as is tyre pressures. But hey hoe. When Manufacturers fit XL tyres as OEM then best that replacements are as well.
  24. NC500 labelled 'race track' tourist route by locals who are worried... http://www.pressreader.com/uk/the-press-and-journal-aberdeen-and-aberdeenshire/20210727/281633898269384
