fuel consumption increase - reasons?
Look in the Air Box and see that the Air Filter is clean. That was likely not done at the service. GPF's are not supposed to need any actions by the driver, and what is actually the facts needs checking really. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/476488-octavia-vrs-245-gpfopf http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/466684-20-tsi-190-gpf-regeneration http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/479195-car-bahaving-strangely Read VW's advice on gpf's. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/456700-has-my-car-got-a-gpf

fuel consumption increase - reasons?
Just a wild crazy idea. But maybe it is the GPF and it wants to get it's self clean. That is if your mileage and use has been lower with shorter trips. I do mean GPF and not DPF.

Visual inspections are not necessarily going to pick up on binding brakes. Maybe at Skoda Main Dealers they will be advising 80% wear on brakes and need for new discs and pads. ? Did you pay for the brakes to be serviced, if not then maybe they need doing.

? Do you run it on 95 ron unleaded or 97 or 99 Super Unleaded? It is still Winter Spec Petrol on sale in the UK until the end of March but that should make no difference if that is what you have been using since the end of October.

@purrlyne Welcome to the forum. Be sure to ask on the phone or in person and also by email if the Tech carried out a Software Update on your car without you being told that it had been done.

High fuel consumption after servicing.
20-30 miles less really explains nothing if you are not saying how much fuel that is used. What is that based on, as in how many litres are being used. How far car the can go on 1 litre or 4.46 litres (or maybe 45 litres), so a gallon or 10 gallon is all that really matters for where you drive and how you drive.

2021 Opel Mokka X (electric) testing. & Skoda Enyaq driven.
You can get a New or ExDemonstrator e-Corsa for £20,000 or less. Or a e-208 for under £21,000 Asking prices are just that when they are desperate to shift them.

High fuel consumption after servicing.
The only other oil if not VW504 00 / 507 00 Long Life that should have been used is VW502 00 for Fixed Service Intervals, so 5w 40 FS. Or they could have gone 0w 30 FS III. But you had best find out. But really the fuel consumption should not increase with 5w 40 FS. ? How much more fuel is it using now than last month? Have you brimmed the tank and seeing what you are getting from however many litres? I hope you are enjoying having 7 gears now that you know you have that many.

@ordsI was going to say the same. Usually servicing a car is a good idea, but maybe @automass should leave his car unserviced.

Spring in Strathmore and very dry and dusty roads, more tractors about than cars. There is still patches of snow on the hills in the Angus Glens.

2021 Opel Mokka X (electric) testing. & Skoda Enyaq driven.
The Enyaq started at nearer £31,000 with the from £31,085 with the government grant. but with the £500 less of a grant from today it is getting nearer to £32,000 than 31. A 2nd hand Leaf from the first ones over 10 year old are getting more like 60 miles & some get more but it depends where used, and now people are putting replacement batteries in. Now the EV's have 7 & 8 year Warranties on the batteries, you get guarantees on what battery percentage will be usable by what ever years the are covering & you can buy battery replacement warranties. As it is replacing batteries is not as expensive as many think.

Service interval
9,400 mile / 372 day intervals are just fine for oil & filter changes in the UK for TSI's, even the lemon's that were some of the Euro 5 TSI's from the VW Group. That is with Long Life oil or not. 4.500-6,000 mile oil and filter changes might suit those that do not do many miles a year and are happy wasting money and oil.

Buttons, Knobs or Touch Screens
Never had any fingerprints on my cars touch screen and i do touch it occasionally. Just dust / stoor... Quite a few times touching today as Scorchio and i was changing settings as it is very spring like so not just touching the buttons, switch and knob for On / Off / AC / Heat. Also checking energy use etc while sitting parked up. My phone screen needs cleaning daily if not several times a day. Lane Keep Assist OFF, Parking / camera buttons are physical ones lower down. touch the screen with 3 fingers brings up all the menu choices quickest on the screen. (I only learned that last week while watching a vid by 'Nobby on cars'!) 14*oC in the morning & 23 in the afternoon, that is taps off weather.

"gearbox error ok to drive"
The new Mechatronic Control Unit is not a new gearbox. The low oil from the factory is total fantasy on a DSG with 36,000 miles done over 3 year. There is much to be taken here with a pinch of salts. Actually buckets of salt. Just to give you an idea about the replacement of the MCU.

KPH/MPH
Very much not a safety critical fault if the car has a working speedo in MPH when in the UK and the speed done is controlled by the driver. For 'Goods not fit for purpose issues', first contact the seller, and if that goes no place, Contact CAB or a Solicitor. If the car is owned by others because on finance / leased (rented), then contact them and have them deal with the getting onto the supplier. Especially if that finance house is owned by the VW Group.

KPH/MPH
Just, A Manufacturers 'Recall Action / Service Campaign' only if they are not 'Recalling the cars by contacting the Registered Keepers. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions If Skoda do an actual 'Recall' on Safety Critical stuff then it should be on the DVLA Recall Website. Skoda certainly do not want that. But maybe time that they actually have to have that. If you buy a vehicle which really has safety issues, then VOSA is who you should contact just incase Skoda / VW disagree and think they can pan VOSA off with saying they are doing 'Voluntary Recalls' , yet owners have to come to them and complain before they even tell them of updates. https://www.gov.uk/check-vehicle-recall

VW Group to open 6Gigafactories in Europe by 2030
When VW tried to bend Suzuki over and assume the position Suzuki were the ones that got their own back with the help of Toyota. They bought back the last of their shared from VW just before the Emissions Scandal broke. That in 2015 is what changed the speed that got VW to this point in time. Scandalised and forced to going Electric. The customers keep coming to them and corporations also to partner with them until VW blow then off.

Service interval
What becomes interesting is the servicing of Plug in Hybrids and servicing by 'miles' & 372 days if on Fixed Service Intervals. 9,400 miles mainly done or fully on Electric without the Petrol Engine being started. The Inspection part of the vehicles tyres, brakes, steering, suspension etc might well be needed. As to if they want the oil and filter changed at this interval will be up to them as it will fall into the used to do not many miles and the oil never getting up to temp. That might well apply with the Engine & Battery covering equal use in a year. Leaving the engines Oil & Filter changes for 24 months might not be 'Simply Clever', especially if that means the other visual checks are not done for 24 months from the car having a PDI. https://volkswagen.co.uk/owners-and-drivers/servicing/service-plans/service-schedules

"gearbox error ok to drive"
They were not serviced to a high standard. Just to Main Dealership Standards. So to Manufacturers Recommendations. That has become Variable Servicing so not fixed. The Tyres are done at Kwik Fit who will even ignore the Tech at the Dealership saying tyres are worn and the track should be checked. Kwik Fit will maybe fit new tyres, or maybe say they are fine and not bother their backside. This was my 'Motability' car getting MOT'd 3 months before 3 year old at the Skoda / SEAT Dealership and how it was when bought by Arnold Clark after handback other than a 1 new wiper blade fitted. The tyres on were the ones i put back on after having run the car most of the time on Winter Tyres. They were taken off because they really were crap, but the car had to go back with these ContiSeal tyres fitted. The brakes were seldom used as i used the DSG for slowing more than the brakes ever were. They were red with rust in the first year of being on the road anyway. An Alhambra TDI with e-Brake.

"gearbox error ok to drive"
Motability Finance have the Lease Cars they own and that have a Service Package with the Manufacturers Service at the Approved Repairers / Main Dealerships. About 3 months before handback the car goes for the Service & MOT and that is at Main Dealerships. The Brake Fluid is changed, and the DSG serviced if due. An inspection is done and any warranty work carried out. Then the car is sold at a BCA (British Car Auction.) Using the pictures taken at Handback at a Motability Approved Dealers. No Back Street Auto's or Independents are used for Servicing as the Cars at the end of lease are sold with FMDSH and the car serviced to the Manufacturers Guidelines Schedule. PS My last Motability car handed back at the end 2019 had the Brake Discs corrosion as an advisory at the MOT, and they were left as were. Also an advisory on the nearside Wiper Blade torn, yet the Skoda / Seat Dealership did not have one to fit. LOL. So i got the car away and took it back days later for a new one. Arnold Clark bought it from BAC and then a few months later did a MOT on it after fitting new discs. Then they sat with it for more than a year without finding a buyer.

Enyaq order
^^^ That joke goes back to when BMW were even selling the BMW i3's with a range extender engine installed. Lots thought that some might as well have a portable wind turbine and if no wind power it with their own. The new local to me charging hub has the landscaping done with srubs and trees planted and the new earthworks seeded. Picnic Tables in and various fast food places and shops nearby should make it popular with travellers wanting to charge on the A90 between Dundee & Aberdeen. Just a pity that there are no Solar Charging Canopies or a Wind Turbine and a storage battery included at the hub. There is a nice Country park nearby for those wanting to take a walk or cycle while their vehicle is charging.
