  1. Articles and news on this from the 17th March 2021 & in the next days might be more useful than ones from the weeks past. https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/focus-power-play-volkswagen-abruptly-065245378.html

@KentYeti Welcome to the forum. @bear84has not signed into the forum for nearly 2 years. Maybe they will get an alert to this post and let us know how things are going with their Yeti & travels.
  4. So it turns out that VW Group dropped a F Bomb on LG who thought they were in the big plan for the roll out of more and more VW Group EV's. That seems like par for the course with suppliers and contractors.
  5. There is Fixed Service Intervals or Variable Service Intervals. There used to be Minor or Major Services time about, or Major & Major. Then Skoda started calling them Interim & Major instead of Minor & Major. There never were 'Inspection Services' that did not Include the Oil & Filter Change. (There were 'Body Inspections' for the Corrosion Warranty.) **The Body Inspection should be done when the car is in for 'Main Dealer Servicing' and shown on their system. No extra cost to owner.** So now Skoda call the Fixed Services 'Oil & Inspection Services', and Extended Scope. The issue with German to Czech, to Spanish, or to English or US English is it got lost in translation someplace around in the VW Group.
  6. 'Honest John' website, as in the organisation as it is not someone called 'John' anymore or even 'Honest John', http://honestjohn.co.uk as owned by Heycar can go to the head of VW or Skoda UK, be that a CEO or Brand Director and ask the questions regarding IT and Skoda vehicles of VW Brand Vehicles without acting as an agent for individuals. If they want to raise individuals particular issues then good. First they can ask the questions having gathered various owners / drivers experiences and the anecdotal evidence. If they ask the PR department Spin Doctors they get the spin from the manufacturers & not actual answers from someone on the Board or the person VW have in the job of fronting VW in the UK.
  7. In the UK the cost of VW 504 00 /507 00 so 5w 30 FS III (Long Life oil) for Variable or fixed servicing is very little compared to VW 502 00 so 5w 40 FS for fixed servicing of TSI engines. The difference is the cost of the VW508 00 / 509 00 so 0w 20 FS IV that VW Group started using at the factory pre WLTP introduction and which is the recommended spec for TSI's & TDI's for Variable Servicing and Fixed Servicing. VW Group never showed an oil spec for the Fixed Servicing and some dealers never used VW 508 00 / 509 00 but just VW 504 00. Now some are using 0w 30 FS III oil in TSI's and TDI's. A 1.5TSI can have oil changes at Fixed Intervals and not have Long Life Oil used, be that the 0w 20 FS IV or 5w 30 FS III, but you need to use the correct spec oil for Fixed Servicing. That can be 5w 40 FS to VW502 00. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/481795-what-oil-for-15-tsi Below is what came out early on and is the spec for 'Variable / Flexible' Servicing Regimes, Oil & Filter changes. Not for Fixed Service Regimes. but Dealerships / Approved Repairers might well still to this regardless of Fixed Service regimes or Variable.
  8. The service one can be sorted by servicing the car, or resetting the service indicator. The TPMS hopefully is not a regular noise. The 'it is cold so drive carefully bong should be off for the next few months after we get past this last 'Arctic Blast' due shortly. Beep you are in reverse is worth it's weight in gold. Bong your seatbelt is not on, or the lights are, or the door is open are very helpful.
  9. @melbury Personally i have not driven a car with Lane Keep Assist that i have had to turn off and i have driven a few with it including VW group cars and that is usually on back country roads. I never even switched it off on my daily driver during the snow and icy conditions. Some seem to be very questionable as members here are reporting and others on social media.
  10. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/489549-speed-i-items-to-be-fitted-to-all-new-cars-by-2022 http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/488677-how-did-cars-end-up-with-so-much-tech-fitted @FrankNicklin Luckily there are still manufacturers that are KISS or going back to things that way. There are plenty cars currently about new or used that can be keepers for the next 2 decades if people want to stay old school.
  11. 'Black Magic Pearl'. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/275633-black-gigaro-wheel-paint
  12. @FrankNicklin I think those with a Porsche EV are supposed to have a co-pilot. & the low touchscreen is for setting things up before driving. While driving there is enough on the wheel and the stalks to deal with and a screen in front and one to the side of that for info. Heads up displays can deal rather well with the stuff you might want to know right in your vision like the speed. Which gear you are in not necessary to know. (A nice pair of slacks & loafers will do.) Left hand drive car, but he shows using his left hand..... So maybe left handed.

  14. @Keiran Can the salesperson not just take it for a drive and see if it does into D7 ? It must need a wee Italian Tune Up anyway to clean the discs. (actually the rears look ok in the pictures.)
  15. I used to just paint Dark Chrome Gigaro to look like Black Gigaro using Gloss Black and a little gold flake in the lacquer coats. But then i did the same with roofs and mirror caps i did. If they were wheels that would be getting bashed or lots of tyre changes i did them in just Gloss Black for easy touch ups. I could have used LF9R 'Black Magic' sometimes. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/319355-fabia-vrs-2014-gigaro-wheel-paint-code I can not find any close up of Dark Chrome Gigaro i painted but i did a few sets. The gold in the lacquer made them sparkle better than the OEM black Gigaros. I put a little flake in the lacquer when doing solid colour cars as well.
  16. Those 2014 2.0 TDI 150 ps are 320 Nm so can not have a DQ200 DSG. The 2015 VW Polo GTI 1.8 TSI with 192ps got as DQ200 DSG and 250 Nm. but the Manual box cars had 320 Nm. They did the same performance. @38,000 miles someone should have been looking at getting the DSG Oil Changed. (Audi have 38,000 miles as the Scheduled Change for s-tronics.) Lookers West London should have done it in 2017 @ 44,285 miles if it had not been done.
  17. @Keiran Brand new 2.0 TDI's have 7 Speed Wet Clutch DSG's. VW Group still do DQ200 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DSG's but are soon discontinuing them unless combined with Mild Hybrid with 1.0 & 1.5 TSI engines.
  18. @KeiranI promise you that there is no DQ200 DSG on that car. They are fitted to Skoda cars with 180 ps or less and 250Nm max. that is just with the 1.4 & 1.6 TDI cars, or 1.0, 1.2, 1.4, 1.5 or 1.8 TSI's. 2014 is too early for a Skoda 2.0 TSI or a TDI to have a 7 speed wet DSG.
  19. The Sales Person really needs a kick up the backside. I would be asking them if they have ever driven the car. The funny thing is that a member here with a 7 speed DSG Octavia had no idea their car had 7 gears and not just 6.
  20. Welcome. The Seller knows nothing about the car, so buyer beware. If you look at the car you will see a 64 Plate 2l TDI has 6 forward and 1 reverse with the Wet Clutch DSG, and it is not a 7 Speed Twin Dry Clutch DQ200 DSG. They are not fitted to 2 litre TSI or TDI's. The DSG with those require a 40,000 mile oil change. That means the DSG should have had 2 oil changes by now and you want to see the evidence in the form of an invoice & receipt. Some in the Octavia Section should be able to help.
  21. The UK will go with WLTP & RDE2 just like the EU and much of Europe regardless of Brexit. There are plenty regions / countries in the world & not in the EU that could not care less about the 'Worldwide harmonised Light-duty vehicle test'. As the EU test regime is a joke !
  22. I got the Electric Car i have because of the manual buttons and no real need to use a touch screen. My left hand is not disabled and my fingers can operate buttons, but i am right handed and drive right hand drive cars. If i drove a left hand drive car and used my right hand to use a touch screen that would be pretty easy. As it is using my left hand to hit the screen exactly as i want is 'hit or miss'. I set stuff that needs setting when parked or stopped and even then i reach the screen with my finger on my right hand. PS Touch screens can give feed back with a vibration like touch buttons on the new VW EV's have on the steering wheel controls / touch buttons / areas. Voice controls need sorting out as well. Interior and controls by Fisher Price. If Porsche lend me a new car long term i think i might get used to the touch screen.
  23. Octavia can be the cars that nearly never sleep as used as Taxis globally and many maybe even sit at ranks ticking over without the engine being stopped. Those using the newest cars as Taxis / Private hire cars might well be among the best judges on how Skoda are doing. The Octavia seems to be doing very well in the car sales in Europe in the first quarter 2021, or at least in the First Registrations. http://autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/best-selling-cars-europe-2021
