Visually etc. My car of the day -today
@vrskeith I was just out looking for some snow and ice to drive on and there were shooting parties around and about and various interesting vehicles. No snow left just dips in the road that were flooded and had frozen yesterday and were now turned to a bit like a slush puppy I was keeping an eye out for @Aspman

Best talk with the Dealership Principal and tell them you are pretty disappointed with their lack of information from having taken your order and can they do something to improve on the lack of information.

EV real world range and cost to charge
Roof bars and bike holder have had a marked affected the range i get, that is without a bike on the roof. I will need to remove and do a comparison after the weather gets much colder if i am going to be needing to charge sooner and not carrying a bike on the roof. The colder weather sometimes around freezing and below has not had much affect on the range over the past couple of days of driving on flooded & some icy and slushy conditions, and now i have Winter Tyres on rather than the All Season CrossClimates i had changed the rubbish Michelin Primacy 4 for. The ride is more comfortable and the handling feels much better & going to be more pleasant and safer to drive when there is snow about. Michelin Alpin 6.

Fab2 2012 - Maxidot display and warning lights
Welcome. With some cars the Red or Yellow oil can do no appear when the 'Warning light' check is done when the ignition goes on. You will get a 'Yellow Oil can' if the oil is low, or a Red Oil Can if the oil pressure is low. Also a message in writing on the maxidot. ? What engine have you? With a Fabia vRS the oil could be 1.3 litres low and a Low Oil pressure warning might happen before a 'Low oil' one does. Open the bonnet and do nothing and the Lights / Message can go out for 60 miles. Simply not clever. An official video, unlike the one from the US that correctly says check the oil level at 'Normal Operating Temperature', the UK fails to do this. Only the 1.2 44kW engines are checked when cold. (Obviously when correctly filled you want to know where when cold, as well as where 'at normal operating temperature'. Not 'Warm' as some Owners Manuals say.)

don't understand
Welcome to the forum. Sorry but i have no idea how your set up works. Hopefully someone with a Scala can help. ? Do you know if there is an 'Update' Recall / Service Campaign action for your cars system. I have read of others having issues. Maybe check with a Skoda Dealership. http://skoda-auto.com/services/recall-actions

Fuel Filter change and drastic fuel consumption
Welcome to the forum. ? How many miles had the car done when you got it and how many now? ? How often is the car doing regens? I think the fuel filter had nothing to do with anything with the OP. ? Why not give the very expensive Shell V-Power a miss and even their Regular Diesel and go brim the tank someplace else. Zero the dash and drive until you need to refuel and say how many litres to brim again and how far travelled. Saying per tank gives no idea of how many miles per litre you are getting. Is there a nice clean air filter fitted?

2030 Ban for new cars/vans run on just petrol/diesel
@PetrolDave That is all that many are interested in and they manage A-B perfectly well. If they get a car that does not suit them then easy enough to change it. Lots of females are driving EV's & charging them and getting about and seem to like them and have a better understanding of them than males have.

Cycling on a York exercise bike
@xman A static exercise bike. Funny how when you are on an electric bike people say that is cheating. My cycling is not all on electric bikes, & was not in 2018, not that that matters does it if you still need to cycle and you have one leg. A bit of assistance when cycling can change were you might go like up steep hills that would mean walking if on a pushbike, you are still getting exercise.

Eccentric EV Conversion Business in UK
- Cycling on a York exercise bike
I have a few of the devices from different manufacturers and they are what they are which is not cheap. You are very very fit if exercising and that is correct. I did 1 years of trials for a diabetic research and had to wear their devices and i cycled 5,000 miles plus in that 12 months, my heart beat, blood pressure was pretty good then and is the same now. Finally nearly 2 years after the end of the research i am now on the medicine that i was part of the research for and am coming off some of the medicines i have been on but did not need during the research year. I knew that i was in no way on the placebo.- Cycling on a York exercise bike
@shyVRS245 I think you need to check your heart rate at peak and resting with some other device.- 2030 Ban for new cars/vans run on just petrol/diesel
@PetrolDaveThey have equipped vans and transporters to get EV's charged or to charging places. Garages & Recovery Companies can do the same where there is a market for that and could do quite well out of it. Just as 'Mis-fueling' are doing now. Actually many ICE drivers know how to hypermile where filling stations can be scarce or not 24 hour. They need to know what to do where weather conditions can require long diversions. Now that will catch out many using EV's in Winter in Scotland. https://www.rac.co.uk/business/news-advice/rac-deliver-roadside-boost-for-ev-drivers-with-lightweight-charging-unit https://www.theaa.com/about-us/newsroom/aa-rolls-out-ev-support-service-in-response-to-increased-demand https://futurenetzero.com/2020/10/09/police-scotland-invests-21m-in-ev-charging-infrastructure- 2030 Ban for new cars/vans run on just petrol/diesel
If Local Community Filling Stations are required then communities can run them. They can have EV charging as well. In areas of the UK which include the South that get 5 pence fuel subsidies that would be 'simply clever' especially with many people no longer in gainful employment. That is if viable and people locally will use that facility and not just ignore it and go a few miles to get the supermarket and fuel. http://bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-30829356 EX35 post code for the Devon area included in a Fuel Rebate.... EV charging or Hydrogen filling at local hubs from electricity or hydrogen produced right there in the community from the Wind or Solar makes total sense then. Communities are as well using the energy produced on public land. Private Land Owners can earn half a million squids a year from a turbine on their land. The brothers that have bought Asda own or operate thousands of filling stations around Europe so i can see that Asda EV Charging hubs & others will expand & improve from what Asda now provides. The Government will be sure local planning is not causing delays. https://uk.eurogarages.com/# http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EG_Group Boris might be stupid but he is not daft and knows what side his bread is buttered on. https://www.business-live.co.uk/enterprise/self-made-billionaire-issa-brothers-19080117 As to when the UK / World will go back to the old days only time will tell, so people will be running what they have or can afford for a decade or more, and if jobs are in short supply there should be new ones coming getting the UK ready for Boris's vision of the future. As for me today has been fun as each charger station location i arrived at was fully in use with people waiting. So i had to hypermile to get to 2 different location with loads of chargers before getting home. That is the future in Scotland now for EV drivers that needs to charge while travelling as EV's get more and more popular. Today is the first time i have seen a few Tesla all charging at the same time at the Tesla Supercharger station in Perth. There were others about at the other locations on type 2 chargers.- Skoda Fabia discontinued
So the one thing that is certain is that there is no real timeline or plan and VW Group can drop ideas and plans in such an uncertain world.- Dealer charging for diesel on a new car.
They do not come off the transporter in 'In transit mode' with the 'Low fuel' warning light on.- Dsg service
For those with a DQ381 note @ 80,000 miles and not the 40,000 the other are due to be serviced qt with the exclusion of DQ200's (7 speed twin dry clutch DSG's)- 2030 Ban for new cars/vans run on just petrol/diesel
@edbostan Have you actually looked at the Government / HMRC / Tax payer funded grants and incentives for businesses to use / lease / buy EV's like Light Commercials. A MG5 Estate (EV) is £24,000 and a Van version could be much less. That will be a 200 mile delivery or trades person EV. Issue with Transit / Merc type LGV's is that they might well need delivered to locations like their new owners / users on diesel transporters as driving them more than 80 miles is a problem & even that far can be a no no with a new vehicle delivery driver. Geely are ahead of the game with the Cabs & Vans with the ICE Hybrids for Urban low emissions. AMAZON being one of their customers.- Air filter at 60k/6 years!
Guidelines only, Service to Manufacturers recommendations or guidelines it says in the Warranty T&C's. Low mileage users might well not want to replace consumables, but should at least have their condition checked, and the vehicles maintained and inspected. In the UK it can be 3 years from the car was built or longer before it is found out that the headlight alignment is out. It could be many years before the wheels are ever removed, maybe even years until the tyre pressures get checked if no warnings are given.- Remapped and now turbo has gone
@TheBinarySheep Did the person that did the map not mention before doing it the weak turbo that they knew about? The same engines & turbo's that did have issues a while back, but plenty have had successfully remapped.- 2030 Ban for new cars/vans run on just petrol/diesel
The English South West really should go Independent and make the most of it's natural resources. Sun, Wind & Water, minerals etc and wealthy people that want to live there occasionally or eventually. PS Private Passenger Vehicles do not need to charge when driving on roads when most of their life they are parked on roads or off street where inductive charging can happen. Roads have other users putting cables and pipes under them and that need to do maintenance so digging up. Filling stations are being built as Charging Stations now as well as liquid fueling stations. EV Charging Stations can be nearer homes than new filling stations with fuel tanks.- Dealer charging for diesel on a new car.
As long as the dealership is near enough to a filling station just collect it with whatever fuel they have put in the vehicle and pay no extra. They got the car off a transporter with fuel and did a PDI. It is not sitting on empty.- 2030 Ban for new cars/vans run on just petrol/diesel
Boris and backers see a new world. You work from home or do not work so need go no place and you get home deliveries from people who can earn much working or can not afford cars. They cycle to work. MP,s are always filmed or pictured with older cars at one of their homes. Boris is filmed driving borrowed scrappers. - Cycling on a York exercise bike
