  1. Welcome, such a common issue after the plugs are replaced. Common even with Dealership Techs doing the job. So you need to check the O rings on the Turbo Pipe and the pipe connections and be sure you have not punctured any. Loads of threads similar over the past 9 years.
  2. In the real world even if you are driving everyplace at 90-100 mph you are not roasting the oil or killing the turbo and as it is unless you disable / inhibit stop start the engine stops. If you are trucking around at 60-70 mph making sporty sounds with a sporty exhaust note you are really just driving a family size passenger car and not straining the engine. If you are tracking the car then that is a rather different story.
  3. From BBC 'CLICK' an Item this week on EV's & Hybrids. If you can sign in. http://bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000pr0y/click-the-electric-vehicle-revolution
  4. 5 years back and there were ones failing remapped or not and some got away lucky and got the car fixed and were not caught out by having had a remap. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/340575-turbo-failure-golf-r-s3-leon-280
  5. So now you have to check which of the Auris had issues. I know 2 people that did have and rejected cars and i think that was about 2015 and maybe early cars out for Euro 5 emissions coming in.
  6. It came out of the sky carried in rain or on the wind as it is fallout from what ever source, industrial or envirionmental. Can you look at other cars nearby, or ask neighbours if you can?
  7. It is really sad that Skoda have the Fabia R5 achieving Motorsport / Rallying success and sold to the general public only 95 / 110ps FWD cars. (They did a some limited edition 1.4 TSI 125ps R5 tribute mk3 in left hands drive, or the full fat R5 to those that are going to rally them.) Then vRS badges being used on the Octavia or Kodiaq & then 'Monte Carlo' used on whatever as a trim / stylee thing.
  8. You know you void a manufacturers warranty when you do a remap and that is the risk you take if anything goes wrong. There are those with leased cars including members here that got away with a warranty claim when the turbo went. The thing is if you put the car in and the work is approved at the VW Groups expense (Their finance / warranty arms.) and then they discover that it was a fraudulent claim then your are liable for all the costs. There are loss adjusters that check Social Media / forum posts, and they can check with an Insurance Company to see if the claimant on a warranty had declared modifications. This is not a internet myth, it happens.
  9. If you want to commit what is in effect insurance fraud then fill your boots. Best not then have it on a public forum where any Loss adjuster or just anyone can read it. There are people at Skoda UK that are car enthusiasts even though that is hard to beleive.
  10. You have the correct deflector so you need to just keep manipulating the rubber and the deflector until the glass is not hindered. Is there a 'slider / tyre lever type tool with the deflectors? Are you using the clips or are there no clips?
  11. According to @Othenthe width was reduced from 225 (he thinks) to 205, so not an increase in width. As it is the width is the widest part of the tyre and not all 225, or 205's are equal on the width of the tread. The tyres circumference is really quite important though and checking is the speedo and milometer reading accurately, or at least reading the same since seldom are they accurate on the OEM tyre sizes.
  12. If the Legal Battle is to be with whoever did the Timing Belt which was due a change and the Clutch & Flywheel which might have needed doing and after being removed should be showing if they were needing replaced.

This Recall Action or Service Campaign on Towing Eyes for Citigos was and is pathetic. It should be a proper 'Recall' with all Registered Keepers contacted and not just some finding out. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/466169-towing-eye-recall

The monstrosities are obviously for attaching when parked up and not for driving about with on. Thin black or colour coded strips might or might not stop the edge of someone else's door damaging the paint, that obviously depends on the other vehicles height and where there furthest out place is when a door id open.

The Towing Eye should be used with great care. Recovery Points on a 4x4 Offroader are in pairs so that a bridle can be used. Pulling a single Recovery point can cause damage and would not be for snatch recoveries. Same with the rear recovery point, and care should be take if using the tow ball. Use 'Soft Shackles' not Bow / D ones.
  16. There is a time & reason for using them and that is when exposed to H2o. Then they need proper maintenance.
  17. My son was complaining that the performance had dropped off and the fuel consumption increased and there was a performance filter fitted... The cheap replacement was worth so much more than the £36 performance one.
  18. So that was around 14 mph. On a e-bike outside i do between 12-15 MPH, and on a push bike 8 mph average. That has me with a max heart beat in around 117-127 and an average below 90.
  19. That is about a TSI. The TDI's get Long Life oil even if on fixed servicing. VW 504 00 / 507 00. So that is 5w 30 III (Full Synthetic & Long Life). VW507 00 being the spec.
  20. ^^^ Which is why you ask the fitter to put the tyres to the pressure you want after they have the tyres on the beads and balanced. Then you check they did as asked and reset the TPMS. Never trust your life to people you do not know and that do not love and cherish you.
  21. I have changed the CrossClimates i had on but not on OEM wheels to Alpin 6's on the original wheels. It is easy with an EV to check the equivalent of MPG by how the range changes in the same weather conditions / temps on the same routes. The Alpin 6 are treat for comfort and handling compared to the OEM Primacy 4 tyres the car came with and no detriment to the range. (I think they are feeling a bit better than the CrossClimates did in the same size. The Alpins fitted are a higher Speed / Load rated than the CrossClimate i have are.) They are on now until next summer when i will see if the CrossClimates go back on or not.
  22. @Insectwoman Sorry to hear, but who is the legal battle going to be with on a used car bought 18 months ago? ? How many miles on the car when you bought it and how many miles now?
  23. There is no reason for there to be any difference in reliability of a 1.2 TSI no mater the power output from 2012 on. Just be sure of good air filter, plugs and oil, and no need for 5w 30 FS Long Life Oil (VW504 00) if you want to use 5w 40 FS and service on fixed servicing. VW502 00
  24. Maybe you need to look again and which might have issues. As for regular chain maintenance, no idea where that idea comes from. Just do not get a 1.2 TSI euro 5 engine car from before VW revised / updsted /upgraded the chain tensioner by 2012, or get one that got the upgrade if a 2010-2012 car. You know about TDI,s do maybe avoid Euro 5,s that got the VW fix. Or look for ones that had that rolled back and a remap.

Welcome to the forum. Unless it is your own private tight parking and secure, would someone not just pinch the magnetic panels? Maybe an older Citroen Cactus would by a better buy.
