2030 Ban for new cars/vans run on just petrol/diesel
Funnily there are on street chargers now, pop up ones being trialed in Dundee and I think Portsmouth. The cable is from the charger to the car in the ones I have used in Aberdeen. Not across the pavement. Across the kerb / gutter.

Air filter at 60k/6 years!
FMDSH with a Skoda and protecting warranties of just 3 years is no big deal with variable servicing and little that 'must' get done @ 24 months 20,000 miles. Then maybe nothing if a car is handed back before 36 months from being first registered.

Skoda Fabia discontinued
So when we see actual MK4 all new Fabias in showrooms we will know. That will be about 7 th generation ones after the Fabia, then mk 2 and 3 and face lifts. They have had since 1999 to get them perfect before they no longer can sell pure ICE cars in 2030 in the UK.

2030 Ban for new cars/vans run on just petrol/diesel
Boris really needs to be made to take a trip to Durham, and then the next day to Inverness, then do the return trip in an under £35,000 EV. I have done 300 miles today, am charging for the 3rd time today. No public toilets near any of the EV chargers, one charger took a couple of phone calls to get started. So far 6 hours of travel started 9 hours ago. Need another 30 minutes charge before ready for tomorrow. Lots needs doing in 10 years before many can be part of the lifestyle changes required to have lower emissions or lower costs driving EV,s. A TESLA is not the answer as most I see are waiting their turn to charge at non TESLA chargers or are slow charging.

Mechatronic unit failure
The issues with MCU's were really 2009-2012 which meant a World Wide recall & in Europe just a Service Campaign to change the Synthetic Oil to Mineral and do a software update. That was in 2014. Then in 2017 a Service Campaign on DQ200's from 2013-2015 because there could be cracks / leaks, so there was a software update. '34H5'. There have been clutch issues reported since 2015, and there is updated ones and a software update. There have been other issue as well requiring Software updates, but no common reports of MCU issues since 2016. There is yet another recall in Australia though on DQ200's from 2009-2016 which include Skodas, and some 2017 VW's. This was started in 2019. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/473213-another-dsg-recall-today-sorry-if-already-posted Long story short, SKODA UK and Skoda Dealership Technicians should be very aware of DQ200 DSG's and issues and need for correct diagnosis and Updates.

Mechatronic unit failure
@Bookham Welcome. What engine do you have, so what DSG. Is it a 1.2 TSI with a DQ200 7 speed twin dry clutch DSG where a MCU failure might not be a surprise, or an engine that has fitted a Wet Clutch DSG that has 40,000 mile service interval? The week to build the MCU sounds very much like something of a story from someone. There is time to get one delivered, and stories of back ordering, as to building to order that really is to be taken with a pinch of salt. ? Why have Skoda UK not supplied the Courtesy car, is your car not at a Skoda Main Dealership, just because they want an Independent inspection? ? Is the Extended Warranty one with Skoda / VW or one you have purchased from a 3rd party? You really need a 'Communications Manager at Skoda to get a Resolutions manager on the case because some break down in communications is going on here. * The car is not driveable regardless of what repair needs carried out and what the repair is going to be costing the Warranty Underwriter.* *The hire car you have needs paid for by them if they are going to do what they need to and supply one of the thousands of cars they have at their disposal.* 32529_skoda_approved_used_warranty_doc_v3.72110e7831bce3d9427fded26bdd2652.pdf

Air filter at 60k/6 years!
Up until the end 2019 Skoda UK still had the Air filter change at 4 years / 40,000 miles on the £289 Major service. So that was at the 2nd and 4th major service. Even though you were paying the same price for major services if the parts were supplied on not at the 1st and 3rd major service. Now that have it at the 2nd Extended Scope service. As it is checking annually is the least people should be doing. There is location location location to affect air filters, like sitting behind buses and taxis in some cities or towns around the UK that have never heard of low emissions yet for public transport.

Skoda Fabia discontinued
They had that management /map for the different engine output of 113 / 115 ps and with a GPF and got the WLTP / RDE and if they have RDE2 then they are selling them. Skoda is getting ready to have 1.0 & 1.5 TSI's with DSG's only when they are Mild Hybrid. Fabia's might well not be that important other than where they actually help in getting the Average Co2 g/km down for the brand.

The Warranty & extended warranty starts in the UK from when the car is first registered and the VED starts. (Or when delivered to the first owner, which ever come later it says below.) So not when the car is PDI'd unless that is on the same day, and not any time before then, and certainly not before the car was imported to the UK.- Photography Thread

@ThreeSixty After you have done a top up this time to MAX or just below MAX do not do another top up before letting a Dealership know and have this logged and investigated? ? Did you check what the level was when you collected the car, and how many km has the car done since you got it?- Winter wheels?
I put a set of wheels with Michelin CrossClimate tyres on my e-Corsa and they have been as I expected on wet rosds. But they were not on the aero wheels for the car and the range has dropped which is more down to the wheels. So yesterday I put Alpin 6 tyres on the original wheels. They have been great today on very very wet roads, but so where the CrossClimates. During the week I will be able to see if the wheels and tyres affect the cars range any and maybe get to try the Alpin,s on some snowy roads.- TAILGATING CAMERAS ON THE M1
@skomaz I was being flippant on the Convoy trucks that George Osborne was so keen to trial, but then him and buddies will have investments in the tech. The point is that Traffic Laws and legislation and criminal law needs to be joined up thinking & joint up legislation, and an up dated highway code that reflects the UK laws. HGV's now and for past decades are driving in convoy less than 2 meters apart. Traffic Laws for England / Wales are not identical to in Scotland or Northern Ireland. Max speed limits for different vehicle classes. Coaches as an example.- TAILGATING CAMERAS ON THE M1
The Secretary of state for transport will be on the case then with motor manufacturers and can have them with the ACC not possible to be overridden so that tailgating is not possible. The new very fresh Boris crew can start with the Light and heavy goods vehicles, the EV,s that have the necessary software to use the technology to stop tailgating or it to be logged and sent by WiFi to the DVLA or enforcement agencies That is after they define tailgating. Grant Shapps needs to remember they are starting to run Convoyed HGV,s on UK roads and with less than 2 meters separating them.- TAILGATING CAMERAS ON THE M1
Good. So this morning I have driven 200 miles and half in heavy rain and quite a lot in traffic where I kept a safe stopping distance but those up my jacksy did not. ? The question is what is the distance set out in law in England that is legal between vehicle at various speeds and what is the distance that defines tailgating?- Clearing "Service dues in X days?
