  1. If you're a PD diesel, Seat change fuel filters at 40k, and dealers tend not to bother unless you ask them to do it. So I'd say one is due at 80k, unless you can prove another one has been done since 40k.
  2. Oil, oil filter, pollen filter, air filter, fuel filter. That's what I'd say
  3. I don't know how to help you, but if it had been a bash at your Spanish cousins (our cars have much more flair might I add ) then I'd have hurled a shed load of abuse your way (cause your car's a shed. Geddit? :p)
  4. Okay cheers I do mostly motorway driving so maybe that'll help. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I read somewhere that DPF removals aren't going to be taken to kindly by an MOT test, but I don't know for sure. How much does DPF removal cost?
  5. No worries, just wanted to check I wasn't going to do any bad! Do you have a DPF and how long have you used it like that for? I have e-mailed Millers just in case to ask them whether using it on a DPF equipped car every tank is okay as well.
  6. Sorry to revive a bit of an old thread, I just wanted to check with other people. Is this safe to use in every tank? I've already contacted Millers who say it's safe to use on a car with a DPF.
  7. Well I use Millers Additive basically every other tank. They said that will help the DPF, and it has done since, I haven't noticed any regenerations. I was under the impression that every DPF eventually got full of ash that cannot be burned off. However, after reading here http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/diesel_filter.shtml, it seems it's only cars that use the DPF additive in the fuel (which I don't think my car does) build up this ash. It says there that normal DPF's should be okay for the lifetime of the car. The reason I asked, is that SEAT say get it checked around the 100,000 mile mark, but as it's an expensive job, I can imagine them trying to bull**** their way to selling it to me that I need it changing. Can they be cleaned? I've seen videos on YouTube of people just going to town on them with a hose. If the DPF can't get clogged by ash as above, I doubt I'll ever need it replacing as I do mostly motorway driving, and I believe doing extended periods at 70mph should get the DPF up to temperature enough to burn off the soot. However, just in case there is definitely no advantage having it replaced before it gets completely clogged? Leaving it to get clogged won't damage any parts that wouldn't be replaced anyway?
  8. I do mostly motorway driving, around 70%. Would you say 70mph in 5th (2000rpm) for half an hour a week is good enough?
  9. Just looking through the car manual (one of the other things I have taken to whilst being off work on the sick). It recommends getting the DPF checked at 100,000 miles. Is it necessary to get a DPF changed at any point, or can they run for ages? If they do need changing, is there any cost advantage of changing it before waiting for it to fail? Thanks guys
  10. When we say blasting it... is doing a motorway run at 70mph enough?
  11. Personally, I'd have rejected the car.
  12. RichieJ, I bought the DOD F520, and I generally found that was cheaper than the GS600. Here is an example video someone sent me from eBay. He bought the exact same camera from exact same seller. It was about £102 posted. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/78928687/AMBA0207.MOV Can clearly see the registration plates, and quite frankly, I know the quality may not be quite as good as the UK cameras, but it's better than half the price of the likes of the BlackVue one, and DogCamSport MiniDVR. Only problem is obviously if it breaks, coming from Taiwan, returning it will be a bitch :p
  13. If you're really bothered and don't want a load of hassle, just take it into Apple and they'll do it for you.
  14. The only problem I have with GT5 is making the driving as realistic as possible. I don't know whether to use TCS and ABS or not, depending on what I'm driving. So I can never really get it realistic. Anyone got any suggestions to where I can find the right settings? At least when I play F1 I know that I don't get any assists!
  15. Any idea why the dates seem to go a bit bonkers?
  16. Thanks for clearing that up for me Is the Mobil1 Oil any better than the Castrol Edge, or is there not much difference? Are there any other manufacturers anyone would recommend? Also, could anyone suggest a cheap place to buy oil from? Opie Oils have been the cheapest I found so far.
  17. Hey guys, I own a Seat Leon with the above engine, obviously it's the same as the Skoda 1.6TDI CR. I just wondered if anyone could tell me the correct oil? Does it need to VW 507.00 spec? I thought that was just for long life servicing, but have also seen people say you need that oil if you have a DPF. Thanks for the info
  18. £20 from a dealer!?! SEAT charge £60 for the same cable, and I know VW charge £60 for it. You can get them for about £9/£10 on eBay. The MDI will let you select music from the radio, as opposed to operating the iPod, and you also be able to control it with steering wheel controls if you have them. It will also full integrate with the MFD/Maxidot display.
  19. If you're worried about, try using an additive such as Millers every couple of tanks. Personally, I notice a difference in the way the car feels, but I haven't noticed a DPF regeneration since I used it (even though I believe VAG engines do a default one every 600 miles). Saying that, if it has been doing regens, it's certainly made them smoother.
  20. In proper simulations, you could say yes. I believe the F1 guys, use a industrial version of rFactor.
  21. Manchester, they're VAG specialists, so deal with all VAG parts. I'm a member at seatcupra.net and they have their own subforum on there. £300 was the last quote I saw them give. Volksmaster is the garage.
  22. I carry roughly 10-12 pieces of test equipment, a laptop bag, and a few spare parts. Every day
  23. What you've got sounds good. My car came from the dealers covered in swirl marks because the majority of them don't know how to clean a car properly.
  24. I know a local garage here does the Seat Leon Cambelt for £300 fitted, with the pump and coolant included.
  25. That's the first time I've ever heard any Hobin group dealership as being 'helpful'!
