  1. I'm very surprised they've not offered to foot the bill as a gesture of goodwill. People over on the SEAT forums have no problem getting goodwill out of SEAT for up to 6 months. Being a couple of days out of warranty, I'd have expected them to foot the bill for parts, and maybe you pay labour.
  2. I've seen so many numbers banded around the internet with regards to this. Personally, I think as long as you're going to be at the lights longer than about 7 seconds, it'll be fine. I've noticed the average consumption going down every 7 or so seconds when sat with the engine one, and it doesn't change with start/stop.
  3. 1900RPM. @ 70mph 1650RPM @ 60mph. The engine performs it's best (for fuel economy and power balance) between 1500RPM and 1700RPM, but in anything above 2nd gear, it doesn't like being lower than 1500RPM at any point (well 3rd isn't bad) because it becomes very sluggish.
  4. If you're getting a CR engine and are worried about 6 gears, you can look at the Greenline versions (equivalent of the SEAT Ecomotive, or VW BlueMotion). Mine is the highest MPG car in the SEAT range, and it only has a 5 speed, because they extend the ratio's out (quite far too). I can spend ages in one gear before needing to change. It's actually quite nice around normal town speeds, because it's kind of like driving an automatic, just stick it in 3rd and keep going lol. The only strange bit is driving at 50mph in 4th gear @ 2k RPM. You feel the need to shift into 5th, but the car just hates it as it's too low revs. The CR engines like to be driven at higher revs, mine hates anything below 1,500RPM.
  5. It already is a failure, IF they spot it's missing. Most DPF delete places will put a blank DPF pipe in for you, and your standard MOT tester at the likes of KwikFit probably doesn't have the time, or possibly the knowledge/inclination to look to see if the DPF pipe is empty. In most cases, as long as you pass the smoke test, and it's not obvious it's missing, you'll be okay.
  6. There are two different DPF types, and it depends on the location of the DPF as to what DPF you have. On the likes of the Golf/Leon/Octavia, it's near the engine, so it's just a filter. However, on the likes of the Passat and Audi Q5, it uses an additive to help get the temperatures up in the exhaust. All manufacturers use one of these two types. The ones without the additives tend to work better and last longer.
  7. I've never driven the 1.9PD, but in terms of economy Im starting to average aroudn 63-65mpg a tank, with a 70mph cruise speed. Dropping it to 60mph, I reckon I'll see about 70mpg. Pulls very well, but being a CR engine, doesn't like to be driven at low revs like the PD engine. A driver needs to adjust their driving style, and the problem is that most of them don't, hence problems with the DPF.
  8. Does the Austrailia setting change anything else, other than the speed stuff?
  9. I know a lot of dealers advise you of them because they have to think ahead to the next service. So with things like pads and discs, if they think they are going to wear before the next service is due, they'll tell you that they need replacing. However, most of the time they feed you ****. A friend of mine uses a local Halfords Autocentre for his brakes because he says they are really good. Every time he goes in he's told he needs new discs as well, despite me telling him his pads AND discs are fine. Not to mention they charge £109 to fit front pads ONLY and the pads cost £19 direct from the manufacturer. (Vauxhall)
  10. All brand new diesels will contain DPFs to meet to the Euro V emissions standards.
  11. I'm similar, I only use Windows for VCDS
  12. Cheers for the info guys. @ Silver101 - I know the strip LEDs are fairly contentious amongst most people. Personally I'm for them, think they look good, but I only mean proper ones built into the lights. I half arsed effort with a Halfords LED stick on strip looks silly to me, but I think where they're built into the headlight they look good.
  13. Leon foglights look nothing like that. I see. The only reason I wanted to use the current fogs, is because I didn't want to spend any money. You can get proper OEM DRL strips, or some aftermarket ones which look identical for the Leon, which I'd probably get as I prefer the strips myself. They're around £150 I think, the SEAT's never had the option of having DRL's, apart from on the new ones which are getting the DRL unit. Cheers for the link anyways. Out of curiosity, how hard are they to fit?
  14. Remappers usually re-apply them free, or if you can have Bluefin, they email you the map to put back on yourself.
  15. Loads of guys on the Seat Cupra forums just get them remapped, and then when the dealer asks, say no. Seems to work okay. If you're that bothered you can get a bluefin box, which allows you to use a tool to change map. Before you take it to the dealer, change it back to standard map.
  16. No, I don't, that's why I'm asking about making fog lights the DRLs. Which is possible, and works. My main worry was people getting pulled for it, obviously you can turn down the brightness so it doesn't dazzle other road users, but I don't want the police pulling me thinking I've got fog lights on.
  17. If you can get to Manchester you've got Volksmaster and Awesome GTI.
  18. Cheers. I tested before, I can activate them on my Leon just by clicking a tickbox, don't need to change the country settings. Just thinking about using them as people keep pulling out in front of me! The only thing I was worried about was ****ing other road users off.
  19. I had respect for you, and then you said that. Bloody woman!!
  20. Just wondered if the Octavia has fogs as DRLs as standard?
  21. The cruise control display doesn't work on my Leon either btw.
  22. You're actually incorrect, for the reasons in the post above mine.
