Car forums in General - Briskoda is way above many
David 8 replied to Chriswright03's topic in The Roadside Hotel
You did read it wrong. We have the power to change a password so in theory we could get in there, but then we don't see the old password when changing it so it would be clear to the user that something had happened as they couldn't log back in as they did. Cue alarm bells. -

You clicked the wrong link. I told you at time what you did. No need to go rifling through PM's you sent it direct to us. -

Pm's are secure. Pm's become insecure when people don't click the right link in the email notification and they send the pm back too our webmaster address which Colin, John, Simon and myself can read at all times. Slip of the finger .... -
So what you been doing to your VRS lately?
David 8 replied to Big Lee's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
Far better than those clip on jobs. Plus they actually work unlike the OE fitted crap -
I vaguely remember reading that it's free with the upgrade but not on the retail version.

Seriously, no problem.

Moved to tech

Yeah true, I guess I could call myself and advanced user so I know what to click and what not to click. I have noticed lately that virgins filters seem to work very well in keeping email crap very low, I assume most ISP's use the same filters. Which would keep a lot of people out of trouble. The AV stuff these days is lacking like I said as most problems aren't actually virus as such, ransom ware seems the norm now. Like you say, they are chocked full of system utilities which most people won't even touch. Most of which you can do yourself with a quick search online for advice.

Thanks for the replies, useful for future reference, as it happens the laptop in question seemed to sort itself before I had chance to break the iron. So no further action needed.

WTF is AV software. I go in bare back, have done for years. Well MSE/Defender or whatever may be running on my boxes, but I don't install anything else out of choice. It's like life, keep away from the wrong parts of town and you'll be alright. Edit to add. I see many PC's running forty quids worth of AV and they are hammered with crap, mostly down to user choices. Didn't one of the big AV firms recently say their products are nigh on useless at prevention these days and it's more about cure at the moment.

Going slightly OT here but .... N47, have you had the chain checked ??? -
I thought of that so it went in before the upgrade. It's just sat there empty waiting for me to hit the button. How did you get around the issue ?? Phone call to MS ??
-
Cool. Thought as much. Want to use a new SSD so I'll go old skool and boot from the USB I made for the upgrade. Thanks
-
Ok so I've done the upgrade, I just boot into setup and clean install ?? From what I have read there's no key needed ?? Anyone had any hiccups along the way I should worry about ??

35psi boost on standard turbo!
David 8 replied to mutationmotorsport's topic in Skoda Octavia Mk I (1996-2004)
You can set torque to knock out the 14.7 psi atmos pressure it's pretty much bang on in my experience. Which trust me is vast when it comes to farting about with torque. It's in one of the settings there's a slider iirc. -
Yeah I guess I would imagine it's only the layabouts watching the non terrestrial crap anyway in which case they wouldn't worry about a bit of jam sandwich

I'm like a docker with course language but there's a time and a place. I don't shout it out in M and S or my nans house but elsewhere is fair game if no one likely to be offended is in earshot. Day time tv possibly not the best place.

For future reference I've used this now twice http://getintopc.com/softwares/operating-systems/windows-7-all-in-one-iso-free-download/ Once with an Acer OEM key and one Toshiba Works fine just select which version you want. Thanks for that link for the iso's, a bit slow downloading sometimes but saves ball ache locating Iso's

Fuel is normally black ain't it. Blue is oil iirc. Grey ?? Which shade out of the 50 ? Like I said valve stem seal are known on the 1.8t to go hard. But I'm thinking blue smoke for them. Mine used to puff a bit on throttle after a downhill coast on one road here in Cardiff never noticed it elsewhere. Angle of the dangle maybe causing an oddity. Used to get a light bit of smoke on cold start possibly grey. Don't forget I'm blue green colour blind so grey can be blue green or whatever my eyes think it is !!! -
Thats my reasoning for not needing one if I'm honest.
-
On a side note. Do you all just leave them in the car when parked up, are they on the list for popped windows and tears ??
