Airbag Theft
Legally they have to do it. doesn’t stop them fitting load resistors, but why they would bother us beyond me.

EV real world range and cost to charge
I’d say include Somerset and 10 years of local residency. 10 years because if you’ve been there for a decade then you’re local enough that tourists make life harder in the summer. Anyone that lives in Somerset can’t go anywhere when the grockles come down en mass. Dorset has the worst of both worlds too. Car chargers packed, roads blocked, towns full of often rude tourists. I find it funny that Somerset always seems to be forgotten to be honest.

EV real world range and cost to charge
Cornwall/Devon/Somerset residents only priority bays ?

EV real world range and cost to charge
yes that is Somerset, but in holiday season you have half the country descending on a few charge points. Every gridserve 50kW I tried has been either out of order or giving closer to 25kW, which is useless.

EV real world range and cost to charge
As it’s often empty there I would suggest more hubs are required in Devon and Cornwall. I’d love to see one at m5 j25 where the motorway and the connecting road to the a303 meet.

EV real world range and cost to charge
Agree generally, but will add that 89 gained 535 miles. 106/680*535 = 83.50 Essentially not any cheaper on money, but more expensive on time. If you take the fact the EV probably left home on 10p electric for 340 miles then it will have been a bit cheaper until the public charge but not much. However say you did do the full range at todays prices 90kWh @ 10p = £9 90kWh @ 69p = £62 535 miles @3m/kWh = £71 Ouch… it is still close to the cost of a diesel but you added 30 minutes charging time. (assuming you have an 800v car and 350kW charger with a 90kWh+ usable battery ) Many people won’t pay an hour and a higher but price to get back £20

England EV Charging points, a proposal. & location & news on new charging hubs in England & Wales.
But since it’s near to the abbey will it stock/sell Bucky too 😂

Handy info for a flat battery & for Tesla Security of goods in the frunk, maybe for owners maybe just for thieves.
As long as having charge keeps a relay open which means those leads only work when everything is dead…

201skoda rapid 1.4 TDI
Moved to a better area, but I would get another quote. No car requires an SMF conversion and I seem to remember a new DMF and clutch was less than that at a main dealer. I’m sure others will chip in 👍

Cracked DSG Gearbox - quoted £7k for repair!!!
It it takes is a bit of bad press and suddenly a manufacturer gets interested. Say any of the tv/newspaper or motoring consumer type things. If only everything was built like a golf… I’ll let you finish with the comedy follow on.

Control system for exhaust light on
I’ve moved the post to the octavia section 👍 Would agree it’s probably a sensor or part of the ignition system, but without fault diagnostic codes were are just guessing. get the codes and the fox hopefully won’t be too expensive. I wouldn’t keep driving it as a damaged lambda sensor can cause the cat to be damaged and that would get expensive. fingers crossed it’s something simple.

Fabia 3 1.2 TSI 90 HP - Don't have stock power?
Does LPG burn hotter than petrol, as if so wouldn’t the sparks need to go up a temperature band? Dont know enough about LPG but different gaps? I mean the basic obvious thing is to check they’re lightly coated rather than black or discoloured. I would also ask if the ignition system HT, coil packs and sparks are I. Good Nick. I assume the air filter gas kit been left for 60k and is clean?

SOLD: Octavia etc 16” steel winter wheels/ Michelin alpin 6 / skoda trims
Ok ok… Location is south Somerset 205/55/R16 91H These are (I believe) 6J wide genuine steels and the chains are boxed and unused. (Older chains were replaced as they looked a bit tired and why take a chance) pictures… they’re currently in a cupboard so if there is genuine interest I will take pictures. New the tyres are about £600, the wheels about £300-400, £86 for the genuine trims and you have the chains the wheel tree and tyre covers. Bit of a bargain imho. The wheels with correct tyres have been fitted to a3 saloon, mk2 octavia hatch and mk3 octavia estate.

On the edge… again… phev, or go all in on ev…
Get a nice big 3L turbo diesel? 😂😂👍

On the edge… again… phev, or go all in on ev…
I wouldn’t bother for the RWD, but the AWD GTL has the folding sliding rear bench. The EV6 handles better and has better real world economy but the i5 is more lounge like and spacious. I’ve got an eye out for the a6 avant etron but I’m guessing I shouldn’t highlight the i5 ‘N’ that’s on its way
-
On the edge… again… phev, or go all in on ev…
If you’re looking at the i5 have you looked at the ev6? Now I’ve been in it for a while and got used to an “automatic” plus regen braking it’s pretty good. Add to that the 800v battery means charging isn’t such a big deal. Biggest issue is planning when you have to be somewhere by a specific time and your charge could be 30 minutes or 2 hours depending on availability and reliability of the chargers.

England EV Charging points, a proposal. & location & news on new charging hubs in England & Wales.
Be nice if the a303 got better charging as whilst there e are re a few fast chargers the facilities are rubbish. m5 j25, cartgate, solstice and some services towards the m3 either have nothing or have something but not enough or poor facilities. I’m expecting long waits when the summer holidays hit.

Help please
That bc won’t be the cause of the fuel smell IMO, check the fuel filter for leaks, the injector areas under the engine cover and the tandem pump on the side of the engine. All good starters for 10 assuming of course the smell is from the bonnet. Obviously with it bring fuel the correct advice would be to seek a qualified diagnosis and fix.

Tesla price drop UK 2023. Changing times, changing market. If they can pile them high and shift them cheaper. Or is it like a 'fire sale' make money while you can.
Because they don’t (not really) let other cars use their network, often charge slowly on 350kW chargers and consume all the bays everywhere I have been. If Tesla chargers were truly open and charged the same to everyone I would change my view. As for selling LHD in the Uk, I would argue it’s somewhat dangerous (small imports too but not a primary sales, and so all LHD cars should display a giant warning left hand drive sticker. Also all autopilot should be disabled by law as it’s configured for traffic/overtaking on the other side.

the truth about electric cars
no idea why there is a blank post as I didn’t even try to post anything… As for the gollus wheels, they were no problem at all on a beam based estate. Octavia should be towed though..
-
VW ID7
Size wise, the problem with most 400-500 mile range cars is getting enough battery into a given space. I imagine that’s why it is a big car.

the truth about electric cars
- The MG 4 and 5 EV and Maxus vans - Game changing cars & vans from SAIC
3up getting 3.6-4.9 (4.5 is more common top end) on 60-120 mile runs. Lower end is motorway upper is smaller roads using higher regen to slow.. Cold was more like 3.2-4 Rear camera doesn’t self clean as far as I can tell, but at same time I have had salt laden drives and not found it an issue. Cant comment on snow as not had any, Only time so far I missed the rear wiper was when I first got the car from an estate and was used to needing one. The i5 and ev6 are very different shapes mind. I wouldn’t say no to one of it was an option but I’m not currently upset it’s not there either. AC/heating, I leave it on auto and let the car do its thing. Have a heat pump, but the only button that gets used on climate tends to be “driver only” when it is. Real world 250-280 miles on a charge, longest round trip so far without stopping has been 230, but I’m getting used to letting I go below 25% still. - The MG 4 and 5 EV and Maxus vans - Game changing cars & vans from SAIC
