  1. You missed the magic CR140 emissions control systems, which allegedly had some oversights in the programming. 😂
  2. Just under 80% from a nearly 10 year old leaf is promising. Very early battery tech, air cooled, packs known to get a bit warm under heavy load and fast charging, small batteries that get cycled more. It suggests more modern cars will be at least 80%, probably more like 90%+ at 10 years.
  3. I’ve updated the head post to remove new from the services.
  4. Bitte auf Englisch. Please Repost in English as per the forum guidelines . Sadly I think my limited German will not do your request justice.
  5. Please keep it cordial. That goes to everyone.
  6. They’re retrospectively taxing EVs at the standard rate for anything post 2017
  7. You might want to try-read my post. For starters you didn’t edit your post
  8. Surely if you have an old one and pictures one of the aftermarket Mat manufacturers could do something similar. 👍
  9. A swift edit to say it’s mk3 not mk4 doesn’t magically make someone pointing out it’s irrelevant to the mk4 abusive.
  10. Get an Indy to give you a price for bilstein b4 (oem spec) and new rubber bump stops/mounts. Do check the condition of the springs too as they can rust and snap or just get tired. The labour is most of the cost. ÂŁ600 feels like the price for a full set of springs/dampers all around, albeit that might be a bit higher these days.
  11. 2019 - Add two years essentially doing nothing during covid. Not saying it’s ok, but it may be related to corrosion whilst sat with zero use for extended periods. It will be interesting to see if Bosch want them back to inspect or otherwise?
  12. Last post aside, can we please stop with the Hindenburg type and conspiracy theory type posts. The thread is quite close to be closed and I’m not averse to taking further measures if needed.
  13. Your bus tilt picture isn’t the UK. I really don’t know where you search to find so much electrified FUD material. I imagine if you put similar effort into ICE

  14. And that’s fine for a bit, but sat for hours in the negative temperatures on the blocked road at Negative temperatures scenario you posted for an EV it wouldn’t. As an example also, our EV will keep the car at 23degrees at -4 and was using 1.4-1.8kW to do so. The 1.8 from stone cold until defrosted. Call it 1.5 to make the maths easy and probably less for say 18-20 degrees. 24 hours stuck on a road, permanently heating to a warm temperature without any attempt to eco mode would use 36kWh. Oh and electric cars can turn off and wrap up too. i just don’t think this is the problem you seem to think this is.
  15. When an ICE car is idling it doesn’t generate anywhere near enough heat to keep the occupants warm on waste heat. So you need either an electrical heater, which will drain the battery faster than idle will fill it, a fuel based heater or something else. The occupants are more likely to freeze in minus 10 than stay warm.
  16. Creating their own EV network is smart, just like it was for fuel stations. 1) it’s can be a loss leader to bring people to your stores 2) or you might make some money off it 3) people will likely do a big shop not a grab an item and fuel. 4) They don’t have to pay the third party so can afford to be cheaper. 5) They already have a bigger estate than any charging company. 6) Maintenance teams regularly visit the sites for store equipment so they should be maintained . 7) Bigger users get better commercial unit pricing. They already have a comprehensive set of sites over the whole country, many with cafe/restaurants. These sites have huge roofs and car parks, perfect for solar/battery to bring down the costs and offset the refrigeration costs of the stores too. Wouldn’t be bad to get some sites wind turbines too. Add 6 high 150kW/350kW to all large sites and a series of 7/11/22kW posts in the car parks and the can clean up. Police the high speed on idle time and charge after 15 minutes and both on being ICE’d and there’s an extra short term revenue stream. Offer a lower price per kWh if you buy something in store, scan your voucher before disconnect. So many stores near the main roads and motorways too, so I’m very pleased to see this. The big players have got too comfortable with some charging silly prices. https://smartcharge.co.uk
  17. Thanks the the OT EU posts
They can stop now on this thread thanks.
  18. if you’re happy for me to edit the first post, then put an updated post in the thread and PM me with a link/reminder and I’ll do it when next here. Freedom members get the ability to edit their own posts (See the freedom pages for details)
  19. I know the types, as a pedestrian the blind you too. Oddly most of them here loose their **** if you turn on your mountaineering torch and point it at the same angle they have their lights. Fundamentally the rules are there for all vehicles and actually the problem come from nobody bothering to enforce them. When they’re not actively enforced they might as well not be there as people ignore them. Selling halogen sized LED for off-road use only is a swizz. Bikes with lights up at 5 degrees upwards are not allowed, but common. Rather than new rules straight off, it might be useful to enforce those we have already.
  20. If you look at the first video in the article the flames appear to be coming from a reasonable way up the rear of the bus. Batteries usually are as low as possible and so I wouldn’t be certain they are the initial cause. circle back though, and whilst there a limited fires where that battery starts the fire there are probably more where something else does and could engulf the battery. As with all things there is a period of time until technology in one area catches up with another. In this case fire fighting tech and regulation will catch up and will need to. i now await hindenburg newspaper headlines for hydrogen powered freight.
  21. With all the wars fought over oil combined with politics, pollution and other issues around fuel
I’d rather they stuck up wind/tidal and base load generation and removed the input cost from everyone’s lives.
  22. The most glaring lights for me are police/emergency service blues in LED form. Fine in the day, but when it starts getting dark, they’re blinding to the point you can’t see. All they need to do is fit an ambient light sensor that enables/disables a dimming circuit or just run them at half brightness all the time. They’re so much brighter than older systems. Number of other vehicles have very bright lights, but again this could be improved by changing the light colour. Far too many high K lights, very blue in colour light out there. If they removed some blue and added some yellow (warm white not cool white) that would help. Personally I’m happy with pure yellow too, but I used to use them in winter so am used to them. Saying that self levelling was required for Xenon lights, but not for all LED. That’s something I would change too and also I’d probably ban the sale of LED bulbs in Halogen sizes.
  23. Fire quickly extinguished
Suggests not an EV. Silver car park = way away, and not multi story. Edit: that first comment from a Graeme on the links comments section suggests a tin foil hat is required by the poster. EV are a conspiracy to reduce the population and let country x take over the world. The government are in cahoots and it is one big cover up conspiracy man!
  24. Guessing it was stainless and not quite standard. Either way, I wouldn’t scrap it, but I would look to repair it. We’ve had a 20 year old “banger” on the drive that cost £25 to service, one expensive MOT at £700, a full service with every filter, HT sparks the lot for £100 and most MOT costing zero with a couple of sub £200. So 7 years £1100 for MOT/fixes plus £300 in services, or £200 a year average. That’s very cheap in my books and far cheaper than a replacement car on finance. If you’re looking to EV and get get one cheaply sure, but I still would get a price to fix.
  25. There are also parts for sale and breaking cars for sale sections available to freedom and freedom lite members.
