  1. Mine does more mpg on BP Ultimate but it only just covers cost. Millers, however, makes a big difference to standard fuel and some difference to ultimate. I now only run standard fuel with a single shot of millers. Full results: BP, 9192miles, 44.6693mpg, 0.0000% Saving BP ULTIMATE, 34814miles, 46.6041mpg, 1.0429% Saving BP ULTIMATE + Millers, 6645miles, 47.5534mpg, 3.0823% Saving BP + Millers, 36567miles, 47.4409mpg, 6.1850% Saving
  2. My 04 vrs is now on 120k - 100k by me. As far as i know it is standard - ie no remap Still on original clutch and turbo. The only non consumables/faults have been: Rear wheel bearing Brake light sensor Intercooler pipe popped off cracking intercooler (bodged with cable tie so no cost) (New radiator - hole from stone so not really a fault) (3no windscreens! - again hardly a fault but never had one on a previous car) (2no fog lights - grrr) The front end is noise over bumps now and the bushes feel a bit worn but passed MOT fine. It will probably need something next time round if not before. Not too bad really considering i have a very bumpy commute. 20k killed my previous 306 so the vrs is holding up pretty well.
  3. In the 10k between servicing mine generally uses half the dip stick marker - about 0.5ltr? Not bad for a car which has done 119k and is used properly
  4. Generally a bumper off job on the VRS although my mechanic managed to do it by removing the headlight.
  5. If it is the bearing - the hub and bearing is about £80 for the part. Dealer will probably want the same to fit it. My experience: http://briskoda.net/fabia-i/fabia-vrs-rear-wheel-bearing-caution/151304/
  6. My current stats: BP 8040miles 45.5mpg Cost Saving 0% BP ULTIMATE 34814miles 46.6mpg Cost Saving -0.8% BP ULTIMATE + Millers 6645miles 47.6mpg Cost Saving 1.2% BP + Millers 33187miles 47.6mpg Cost Saving 4.6% I've used millers for nearly 40k miles with no issues, just improved economy and less smoke.
  7. I have done approx 95k in my VRS. 90% of the time i fill up at my local BP. I have tried Standard BP (approx 10k miles), BP Ultimate (30k), BP Ultimate + Millers (5k) and Standard BP + Millers (50k). From a mpg/cost point of view Standard BP + Millers is the best compromise giving a 4-5% £ saving. I also find the car smokes a lot less with the addition of Millers. Ultimate on its own does improve economy, however, the improvement does not compensate for the additional cost of fuel. Adding Millers to Ultimate gives a slight improvement in mpg but again the fuel is too expensive. If you search some of my posts i have posted full data previously. I now always use Millers with standard fuel. From a performance point of view....who knows...
  8. I find Michelin Pilot Exaltos to be much better than the original Continental Sport Contact 2 both in terms of wet weather grip and road noise. The Exaltos are expensive to buy at about £100 each, however, they wear very well. My current set of 4 have done over 30k and will probably last between 35 and 40k before changing.
  9. 60mpg pah... I managed to average over 100mpg after a 1hr30mins drive (ok it was all down hill from Cervinia) I have a photo somewhere think it shows 105 or 110mpg.
  10. My vrs doesn't have ESP only the standard ASR so was surprised it was able to do this.
  11. Just to make others aware...... I needed to change one of the rear wheel bearings on the vrs. The car is out of warranty so my mechanic fitted a non-skoda replacement part. (Cost was about £50 instead of £80 from skoda) It was the right part for the car etc, however, the abs/speed sensor pick up was not correct. Having one rear wheel sensor registering about 10% higher speed causes some "interesting" results..... the car would hold speed/revs and even increase speed to try to correct the speed difference between front and rear wheels! The motor factors who supplied the part had 2 other alternative suppliers but in the end to save the hassle i just went for the skoda oem kit as the alternatives were closer to the skoda part price and i still wasn't sure they would work. The cars back to normal now - just hope i don't need to replace too many more at £80 plus fitting. Rich
  12. Sounds like mine when the intercooler hose popped off. Hope it's a straight forward fix. Mine needed a bit of bodging as it damaged the fixing point on the intercooler. A £10 bodge by my mechanic was better than a new cooler at £xxx.......20k miles later its still going.
  13. My current fuel summary for the VRS: BP 7680miles 45.51mpg 122.90p/ltr Saving 0.0000% BP ULTIMATE 34814miles 46.60mpg 126.90p/ltr Saving -0.8239% BP ULTIMATE + Millers 6645miles 47.55mpg 126.92p/ltr Saving 1.1779% BP + Millers 25142miles 47.29mpg 122.92p/ltr Saving 3.8871% For my driving the cost of BP Ultimate doesn't give enough of an economy benefit. Millers works with both Ultimate and Normal BP but has a greater effect on Normal BP. The car seems to smoke less runnning with Millers - don't have a drift/performance box so can't comment on the performance benefits
  14. My experience from my previous 306 is Michelin's tend to last much longer than Pirelli's. Yes the Pirelli's were cheaper to buy up front but overall cost of the Michelin's was lower. The same seems to hold true for the vRS - The Michelin's are expensive at £90-£100 + VAT but when i (you) can get 40k miles out of a set it works out cheaper than £60 tyres that only last 10k. As others have said - its not just down to driving style. The geometry is right on my car so the tyres wear evenly and pressures are checked regularly etc My driving is fairly mixed between b roads and motorway and i use the performance, however, i don't mindlessly spin up the inside wheel out of corners or rely on the traction control in the wet.
  15. Current set of 4 michelin exaltos have lasted 30k before i swapped front to rear so i would expect total of 40-50k out of the set of 4. I find the exaltos much better than conti sport contacts that the car was supplied with - quieter and better grip in the damp/wet
  16. Thule aero roof bars and mounts together with thule 591 ProRide cycle carriers for me. Very quick to load/unload bikes and provide the option to lock them to the car which is handy for short periods ie pub car parks after a ride. Not sure i would trust the locks with an expensive bike over extended periods but still handy. Have used boot mounted carriers previously but haven't regretted the change to roof mounted - they are much more secure IMO.
  17. 103k on mine at the moment with no costs other than servicing and tyres. Still on original clutch. Coming round for its second cambelt now. Still feels tight with no noticable changes over the 80k miles i have driven it - i've been impressed as i mainly commute on bumpy B roads which trashed my previous pug 306. Re Tyres, Michelins although expensive last very well - current set have lasted 30k on the front before rotating the tyres so may end up getting 40-50k from a set of 4. Brakes also lasting well. Front discs and pads have lasted 50k and still have plenty of meat left. I could just drive like Miss Daisy though!
  18. Fair amount in Leicestershire today. No chance of me getting to work without the chains.
  19. A tank typically lasts me less than a week as i do about 25k a year I do 45 miles each day to get to and from work, plus 1-2 trips to London and back each week which are about 220miles each. I spend way to much on fuel in a year, nearly £3k  when i last looked.... Edited to add: Millers Power Sport 4 is the way forward though saves me 6.5% on fuel cost
  20. I bought my vrs used from a skoda dealer and had exactly the same issue. :thumbdwn: I was told it was a 1 owner vehicle - V5 arrived showing 2 previous keepers I was not best pleased. :( The dealer and Skoda UK were totally unhelpful - Claimed they hadn't told me 1 owner - lie. Claimed i had seen the V5 - lie (they had already detached the details when i completed the transfer part) Claimed it would not affect trade in value - so why do they always ask number of previous owners.... I was eventually offered a discount off my next service...... Unsurprisingly after they fitted a pair of tyres the wrong way round and bodged a rear parking sensor fit i didn't take them up on it. I don't intend to go back
  21. Mine is standard afaik (ie i haven't modified but bought 2nd hand from dealer) and performance looks pretty similar If i get a chance i will time mine through 3rd next week
  22. Update: I switched to BP + Millers Power Sport 4 Results now included in first post. Not as economical as BP Ultimate + Millers but better than straight BP Ultimate and cheaper Rich
  23. Bump... anyone resolved the 3 beeps issue? My Fabia VRS has done it a couple of times just recently. Is not the usual low temperature, fuel level or washer fluid.
  24. Take chains and a shovel if going to the alps in the winter..... And remember where you parked it
  25. I've done a couple of fairly long distance drives into europe in the vrs 1st was Eurotunnel to Hannover and back via Antwerp. About 500miles each way. 2nd was Eurotunnel to Courmayeur (other side of Mt Blanc tunnel) and back for skiing. About 580miles each way. Car performed faultlessly. I personally find it very comfortable and was able to get all the way to Courmayeur with only a few stops - roads were very clear so was able to cruse at 130kph for hrs - infact i think only 2 people pulled out in front of us on the way down! Mpg does suffer at the higher crusing speeds in europe (germany) - only 45ish mpg but then where else do you legally get to push the car to 134mph.....
