  1. ^ There was a school of motoring in the Taunton area (MInster school of motoring) that used to run a 309 GTi & an Orion 1.6i Ghia as a learner driver car back when I was learning in 1991! I'd see it and think 'how cool must it be to learn in a GTI!?'
  2. Worst car: '83 MG Metro Turbo. Never, ever again. Spent more time back at dealers than I got to drive it for the 6-8 months I owned it. Sold it for moreoreless what I paid for it to a friend - it still had the fault (yes he knew about it before I sold it before you ask!) Something to do with the Turbo system, local dealer never did work it out, despite consulting (and paying quite a bit of $ to) a local Bosch fuel injection/turbo specialist. Best car: Any Honda. '90 Honda CRX VTi, '96 Honda Civic VTi, '90 Honda Accord, '02 Honda S2000. 40,000 miles driven in four different cars, all cars were over 3 years old (the accord was 10 years old with 100k on it). Cost of non-scheduled maintenance across all that driving? zero. Sadly the S2000 gets sold this Friday :( Although I will spend the last two weeks here driving a V8 pickup truck so the 'tail out' fun aint over yet I can only hope that the Fabia gives me good reliable service and puts a smile on my face (hold those thoughts!) like the Hondas have. A final category: Car that always felt like it was about to fall apart but never actually let me down: '01 Pontiac Trans Am WS6. Pontiac is the 'cheaper' GM brand here. Probably equivalent to British Leyland if you wanted to get an idea of the 'quality'.
  3. Hi and welcome. Are you...
  4. Lee Hurst is great, as are Bill Bailey and Jack Dee. I also like Ricky Gervais, Peter Kay and Johnny Vegas. I suppose flavour of the moment are David Walliams and Matt Lucas. In their day, Fry and Laurie and Smith and Jones were great, as were Paul Merton, Baddiel and Skinner(in their various comedy shows). I think I'd have to pick Paul Merton of all of them. Over here there is a very funny guy called 'Ron White' (he is part of the blue collar comedy tour). If you can find it on the net, his stand up show 'They call me Tater Salad' is worth a download and a watch.
  5. Yes, Testdrive Unlimited does look to be rather good in the screenshots I've seen:)

  7. I knew it had been decriminalised' date=' but I didn't think you'd get away with it [i']quite[/i] that blatently.
  8. ^ good price from a dealer, IMHO. Did you have a trade in?
  9. Best price seems to be just around 11k for a stock car without metallic paint. I think I have seen 10995 advertised on drivethedeal or another broker site.
  10. Sorry I don't keep them either. But I do like honey.
  11. Mums or Dads (or slightly older spouses) with clean driving records are good to add on if you are under 30, as this can reduce your premium a little bit in my experience. I would imagine if you are 17 or 18 this could make a difference of hundreds. Try it next time you renew your insurance, get the quote, then phone them back and get another quote with you + 1 parent added to the policy.
  12. Translucent Thats the word I was looking for earlier
  13. Check your owners manual / fusebox for a fuse called 'DRL' or Daytime Running Lights' If there is such a fuse, pull that out and then see if your lights are off in the '0' position.
  14. Good luck over in Jersey. I worked abroad for the last 3 years in Texas, I don't have any regrets other than being so far away from family and friends - things (mostly) cost half as much as the UK, and wages are twice as high compared to the UK (in white collar jobs, at least). In fact, family is the only reason I am coming back to the UK now, if it wasn't for that I would stay out here longer and pay off the other half of my mortgage! Edit: smallish mortgage, mind you
  15. I've seen some things in my thyme but no apologies are required for viz jokes.
  16. Great site, b3ta, especially some of the questions of the week stories.
  17. Definately pink then, for the windup lol
