A long time but the timer only really starts when you write to them and say that you're rejecting it. From that point, they should respond within 8 weeks or you can get the ombudsman on the case. For me, it took around 6-7 weeks. I just got into a habit of emailing everyone every day and making a proper pest of myself.

I've already rejected mine. In the end I felt that they might sort some of the issues out but they probably wouldn't touch anything unless they absolutely had to. This didn't even take into account the issues that have yet to arise. Like you say, it's a nice car. It'll probably be even better when it's finished.

If you've only had the car a week then you should get all of your money back. Make sure you tell them in writing and copy the finance company. It might be expensive for them but you have a right to reject.

Two possibilities: It's a conspiracy by Snap-on and the other members of "Big Spanners" (aka Massive tools) to sell more spanners to the unwary OR It's good practice to disconnect the negative terminal first. The benefits of doing either because "It's probably ok this time" are probably not worth learning bad habits.

Never seen a video but as an uneducated 14 year old who was asked by my dad to disconnect the car battery when he had to go to hospital for a while..... I learned this one the hard (though ultimately harmless) way

Word of caution if doing the positive terminal - Do not let the wrench touch any exposed metal on the car at the same time as the terminal. In general, the negative terminal and the car's metalwork are at the same potential and this will give you a very short low impedance path. This is why I'd say it's best to use the negative terminal.

There's a button on the steering wheel to control the driving aids. You should be able to swap between limiter and ACC with that. Driving mode should work when you've got the ignition on. Are you the primary user?

My car had around 2.6k on it when rejected.

Hi Mark, Whereabouts are you in the country? I'm wondering if you might have a car that someone else on the forum has already rejected. Main issues are: Units on sat nav Unable to select KPH on dash - This is a legal requirement from the 1986 Road Traffic Act and no car should be sold without the ability to display KPH General freezing / rebooting of screen For me, I had a couple of extra issues: Matrix LED lights were dazzling other drivers Sometimes Siri would be activated whenever I turned the wheel to the right. For now, get your issues logged ASAP and make sure it's raised with Skoda UK. Even if it doesn't bother you now, this could make your car lose a lot of money in the longer term. You want them to fix it!

How many have rejected or are in the process of rejecting?
When I still had the car, I was contacted by someone at BBC to appear on Rip-Off Britain. I spent a couple of days talking to them and was all set to do a video call for the show until Paul Hamill at Skoda sent some email that implied things were progressing and they decided to park it for now. Frankly I think they need to get some good PR for all the carp they've made us all go through just so they could rush the release of what could have been a brilliant car.

Definitely don't cancel the direct debit. It'll just end up hurting you at a time when you need to have a clean credit score in order to get the new car. Not sure about anyone else but I found that Skoda found an extra delay to nudge things over the threshhold of another payment being taken out of my account. I've still not got that back and have reported VWFS to the financial ombudsman and my garage to the motor ombudsman in the hope that I can get it resolved. Another one to watch for is that I took out the service plan when I bought the car. It's still not been refunded.

Accept or Reject
It depends on what you want. Write to them and tell them what you are expecting from them, I'd start at a full refund of all money paid and leave it to them to try to negotiate you down. Personally, I didn't want to deal with current gen VW tech so I took a full refund and then went for a Tiguan. Same engine as my Octavia had but it's based on previous gen. Consequently, everything works.

Reject it. Life has got so much better since I handed back the keys and got a car that isn't a magic 8-ball of faults. and rushed production qualification

How many have rejected or are in the process of rejecting?
I'm a fully paid up member of the rejection club and I know that I'd been talking with Skoda UK since October 20. They'd told me that it was being worked on by Skoda factory. Like Gax, I had to take a break from the forum for the sake of my sanity. None of those involved have covered themselves in glory here. I've got my rejection but have a complaint in with both the Motor Ombudsman (garage) and Financial Ombudsman (VWFS). Aside from the sheer length of time it took to resolve the many problems with the car, I'm out of pocket for the interest I've paid on the agreement and the service plan has yet to be refunded. Oh, and I know for a fact that my car has been sold. Over the period of 2 days, I received a couple of letters telling me that the car was no longer mine (DVLA) and a part refund of VED. I also got an email from Skoda Connect saying thaat the car was no longer registered to me. If I see the new owner round and about, I'll be sure to try to give them a heads-up

Weird email from garage
Well, only 4 months too late or I might still be in a Skoda I guess. When it all started in earnest, I suggested just swapping it for a car in their stock with similar mileage. They didn't show any interest and just dragged on for another 3 months so now I've got a Tiguan. Shame really (although I've got no complaints about the Tig)

Weird email from garage
Has anyone else received an email like this from their garage? I didn't receive the letter they're referring to and another weird part (for me) is that I rejected the car and handed it back to the garage around a month ago. I'm just curious as to what it's about? Standard level of attention to detail from my local garage TBH.

I'm assuming everythin must be fixed now. That's because the car I rejected 3 weeks ago due to faulty matrix lights and the various problems with mph / kph is now up for sale at the garage, as shown on the used car locator. The price is a little under £20k for an SEL First Edition with 2600 miles on the clock. Comes with Perseus alloys and matrix lights so, on paper at least, it looks like a bargain. If they haven't fixed it yet are selling it anyway, surely that would be illegal? BTW - I've really loved being able to take a car on a journey without stressing about what surprises it might have in store for me. It's amazingly relaxing.

I picked mine up from the dealer on Sept 1st and reported it to them on Sept 2nd. However, I only raised an issue with Skoda UK at the start of October. I've now successfully rejected the car

HAD ENOUGH
That's my car left with the garage for the final time. The rejection has now been processed and I'm car-less until the new one (a Tiguan) is ready, prob some time next week. Thanks for all the group therapy while this has been going on but that's me signing off. Might be back if I ever buy another Skoda but otherwise I hope everyone gets all of their issues fixed (and I really think they should pay their involuntary beta testers for the inconvenience)

It looks like Kate is on hol today, back tomorrow. I'm just waiting on the final call to tell me to come and drop the car off for the last time.

HAD ENOUGH
The garage, Skoda and Skoda finance (VWFS) have accepted my rejection so I'm hoping to drop it off next week. It really should have happened last week but they couldn't agree the figures. As a result of this, I've ended up hundreds out of pocket as another finance payment was taken automatically and the April price increase has affected the price of cars I've been looking at. I've already ordered a stock Tiguan to replace it. I still prefer the driving experience in. VAG cars but I've completely lost confidence in the Skoda brand and my local garage. I thought I'd go for a modern example of the last good set of kit and, from what I've seen, people on the Tiguan forums seem to be relatively happy with them.

I'm having mixed results with Kate / my garage, At the moment it appears that everyone has agreed with the rejection of my car. However, this has been agreed based on other problems (mainly unsafe headlights). However, it's being delayed because the garage and VWFS seem to be unable to agree on the exact amount. Thanks to the delays caused by this, I've had another payment taken from my account for the car and all of the cars I'm looking at as replacements have had a price increase. Now it appears that after a few back and forths everything is going to be on hold till Tuesday due to the bank holiday. To put it mildly, I'm a bit miffed.

I've left a few messages for Ms Laws to call me back. She did eventually speak to me on Thursday but didn't resolve anything. She promised to call back the following day but (surprise, surprise) there was nothing. I'm not as optimistic as I was last week

Sounds like HJ are getting more complaints about this than they know what to do with. That's probably a good thing

It might not be that simple. In a car as integrated as this one, the head unit could just be acting as a dumb display. It's possible that the hardware version is referring to one or more processors that are installed elsewhere Still, they probably know what they need to repair so they should just get on with it
