  1. Have you agreed the rejection with the garage or is the plan to just take it back to the garage and leave them the keys? I've got a lot of the same problems but the ones that really annoy me are the matrix LEDs dazzling others and the units on all of the screens. The garage have apparently agreed in principle to the rejection but they appear to be dragging things out. Nominally the ombudsman give them 8 weeks to respond but they're just taking the p&^% at this point.
  2. That should be at least 3 now. He said that he needs at least 6 before he will take it any further. Let's keep it going!
  3. Thanks. I've emailed him and added my name to the pile.
  4. Agreed. Skoda are not covering themselves in glory here. First they release a product that is clearly not finished and then they just leave a significant group of customers with no clear plan on how to fix it. I've had enough and rejected the car because of this and faulty matrix lights. I'm in limbo at the moment. The garage have agreed "in principle" to the rejection of the car, I'm just twiddling my thumbs whilst they agree with "the brand" the terms of the buy back. Frankly I just want it done so that I can move on to something that works
  5. Yep, it's only if it's dark enough for the headlights to come on
  6. Maybe. I have the matrix lights (but that's a whole different set of problems for me)
  7. We kinda do, the right to reject under the 2015 Consumer Rights Act. When you buy the car, you have the right to reject it within 30 days for any defect. Between 30 days and 6 months, you can reject it but you have to give the garage one chance to rectify the fault.
  8. I use a Nespresso Touch insulated cup and it fits the cup holder fine.
  9. First off, this is totally unacceptable for a UK spec car. If you've not done so already, let your dealership know about the issue in writing and tell them that you will reject the car unless the problem is rectified immediately. You've got a lot more rights in the first 30 days but it's important that you get everything in writing and they won't take it seriously unless you are forceful with them.
  10. These are the matrix beams which are supposed to blank out around other drivers. To be honest, what I really want is to have an Octavia of the same spec as mine but with working Matrix headlights and the other software glitches fixed. I've only had a chance to drive it for a little over 2k miles and this is what I've found so far. I'd be more than happy to discuss swapping for a different car but they haven't even raised the possibility, they're just being obstructive. I paid for the Matrix because I always want the best headlights I can get. I don't want a refund, I want my car to work like it's meant to. That's not being unreasonable, is it?
  11. I thought I'd upload the video of the problem I'm having with the lights. This was taken during the test drive performed by the garage where they confirmed the problem. They're still being awkward and refusing to accept the rejection. I've been trying to get hold of rejectmycar.com but I guess they're a bit busy at the moment.
  12. On the Octavia Mk 4? You just use the USB socket by the rear view mirror
  13. If you set it to what used to be called "Tourist Mode", you usually get a warning when you start up the car anyway.
  14. Cheers. I've been talking to them for a few months about this and gave them a letter last Friday saying that I'm rejecting it and they have 7 calendar days to respond (they've already had 2 chances to fix it so I don't need to give them another. (and btw, I'm livid about their attitude) I'll have a look at that website thanks. I've got legal cover who'll step in if they don't play ball, they're the ones who told me to write them a letter with a specific time limit and the sections of the act to quote.
  15. I've got the matrix LED and have felt for a long time that my headlights were crap. They don't illuminate very far on the road ahead and they dazzled other drivers when doing their active blanking thing. This has been confirmed (eventuallY) by the garage after months of complaining about them. They would just take them to an MOT test wall and say that they passed. It's only when I told them I wanted to reject the car that they actually took it for a night drive and confirmed the problem for themselves. They even took a VRS out the following evening to confirm that one was working correctly along the same route. The icing on the cake though was when I had a call from Skoda and was told that although my headlights were blinding oncoming drivers, this wasn't a rejection issue as these are just "driver convenience" features. The £1600 option on my 5 month old car doesn't work but it doesn't sound like they want to do anything about it.
  16. To be honest, I'm still mad about that argument. What next? 6th gear doesn't work but you still have 5 and the 6th is just a convenience? Side windows are convenient They've got today to come back with something sensible and then I'm going to have to get the lawyer involved. As far as I can see: The car has faults. All of these faults have been acknowledged by Skoda I reported the faults within the first 6 months (within 30 days really but I didn't put it in writing - doh!) They've had the car into the garage twice to address the faults and failed to do so both times If a car develops faults between 30 days and 6 months, you can reject it. The dealer has one chance to fix it and then that's it Given the above, I've got the right to reject the car and I've told them that is what I want to do. At this point, the arguments and delay are just pointless
  17. That might be possible but I'm done working as an unpaid QA for Skoda. These are only the faults I've found so far and it's not like I can take them for a test drive at night any time soon. On the bright side, I've got legal cover with my home insurance and they've confirmed that they'll cover the cost of a lawyer if I need it.
  18. The headlights will come on if you have the lights in Auto mode. The Matrix feature will only come on if you select high beams and are travelling over 30mph in an area without street lights. However, I've got them and (on my car) they don't work.
  19. To make things worse, I've had an update from Skoda UK today. The matrix LED don't work. They dazzle oncoming drivers and they don't illumitae the road properly. Bearing in mind, these were a £1600 option on my car and the garage have had it twice to investigate without resolution. They only ackknowledged the problem existed when they took it for a night drive a couple of days ago and replicated the problem. Now Skoda UK are arguing that it's a "driver assistance" feature which I can turn off and are therefore not grounds for rejecting the car. Needless to say, I disagree. It's taken over 5 months to get to this point and if it goes on much longer I'll probably ditch skoda for good. It's a real shame as this is my 5th Skoda since 2007.
  20. I came over from a Yeti SEL Drive which I'd had for around 3 years without any serious issue. I've now told the garage that I'm rejecting the car due to the collection of faults which they don't seem to have any resolution for (and they've only just acknowledged that the lights aren't working. I think the newer build cars are probably a lot better but I just don't want to be a fault tester for the next few years
  21. Does he have a digital cockpit? If so, it should be possible to select mph as a readout for the dash. This will change both the dial and the large speed display. This would work but I'm not sure if it would be "permanent" enough for DVLA. You can do this in the settings, go down to units. However, some RHD Octavia (including mine) have a problem where it isn't possible to change the units on the dash from mph to kph and (as a seperate issue) the sat nav can be stuck in km. Skoda are aware of both problems and are "working on a fix" but there's no due date. For me, the units on the dash are a deal breaker as I have spent a lot of time driving in France over the past couple of years and need to be able to swap units. I'm curious if your brother in law has the same issues on a LHD as me (and some others on the forum) have reported on our RHD cars.
  22. Following on from my last visit with the dealer, I had a call from someone else at Skoda UK. Apparently the km/miles on the sat nav and the mph/kph on the dash are known about by Skoda UK. They're working on them but there's no timescale. There was another issue with remote lock / unlock using the app. Apparently, this used to work for some people when the MySkoda and Skoda Connect app were 2 different things. They merged them in Nov/Dec and broke the feature for anyone who didn't have it working before the update. There's a fix planned but there's no timescale. Does anyone know if the dash / sat nav units are just issues with older build cars or is it something that also affects new build? I've told the garage that I want to reject the car (there's also issues with the matrix LEDs) but I'd still like to stick with an Octavia. Not even going to try if it's something that's going to drag on regardless of the age of the car
  23. VCDS doesn't work on the Mk4 Octavia yet, they're using an "online gateway" these days.
  24. I’m on the verge of returning the car as they can’t resolve the sat nag units or the dash units. I’ve had the car just over 5 months and reported the issue on day 2. They’ve only really started to take it seriously since I raised the possibility of rejection. Since then, I’ve also wanted to get to the bottom of remote lock (been told by Skôda uk that it’s only available on some uk cars and mine isn’t one of them) and my matrix lights dazzling oncoming drivers. they’ve got till the end of this week then I think I’m going to be car hunting again 😢
  25. Does anyone in the UK have the ability to lock / unlock in the App? II've been told by Skoda UK that it might not be available on all cars. Amongst other problems, 'm trying to get my dealer to fix this but I'm running out of time while I've still got some leverage to get them to do something. If someone has this and can put a screenshot on here of the screen with the buttons available then I'd appreciate it.
