  1. That is actually a g force meter apparently. Not much point on smaller engines in my opinion (mines only 1.5) but I guess it’s something to do.
  2. There is an eco indicator that comes on occasionally, white in a white circle I think, which is just telling you the engine is running in 2 cylinder mode I think.
  3. Sorry, I’ve got the SEL First Edition. Maybe it’s one of the differences.
  4. One of the buttons under the infotainment display brings up a screen that allows you to select drive mode. It has a picture of a car with MODE written underneath.
  5. On the day I picked it up. SEL First Edition with 18” alloys.
  6. I've been speaking with someone from their UK office and their tech team are aware of the km/miles issue. I've also posted a youtube clip on another thread that shows one of their review cars showing the km problem. Frankly i just want them to get it sorted. I notice there's a version of the digital cockpit which has a clock in the top centre which isn't selectable in mine. I'm guessing there's a new version of software out there which hasn't been downloaded everywhere
  7. Perhaps a silly question but are you certain the headlights were on and it wasn't just DRLs?
  8. Found a review of the new Octavia on YouTube where he has the exact problem at around 2:10
  9. I think it’s a tablet holder which fits in the cup rest area of the back seat arm rest.
  10. I think it’s because there’s some batteries under the seat on some variants but I could be wrong.
  11. I had a call from Dean at Skôda a few days ago. Apparently the tech team are working on a solution and expect it imminently. I wonder if I’ll be able to put the clock on the digital dash too?
  12. So my car needs a recall according to the skoda website (though no indication of what it's for) but not according to the gov website. I guess that means it's probably not safety related. I wonder if it's going to fix my kph/mph or Active matrix lights issues...
  13. Mine did some sort of update a day or so ago but still has the problem. The only thing that appears to have changed is that, when I select units for speed, it seems to select both kph / mph (though neither change on the dash). There's still no effect when I try to change from km to miles. Looking at the System Info, my details are: Part Number 5E3035816 Hardware H56 Software 1668 Display unit H/W H44 Display unit S/W 2088
  14. So they had the car all day. I got a call around 3pm saying that Skoda had advised them to load new firmware into the car. They did this but there's no difference. They've reported back to Skoda and I can apparently expect an update and a "Plan B" next week
  15. Dropped the car with the garage this morning so I’ll see if they fix it and report back. Anyone else managed to get theirs sorted yet?
  16. Even if you turn off the voice prompt, you, still have the button on the steering wheel to initiate voice commands. That works ok and you can long press it for Siri if using an iPhone. That being said, although I really enjoy driving the car, I still have a bit of buyers regret and wish sometimes I’d stuck with my 2017 Yeti until they got all the bugs out.
  17. Probably not. The issue is that anything shown on the driver's display would need to comply with certain safety standards so theyprobably can't just give it over to anything which doesn't meet the same standards.
  18. I submitted a form online about the issue and got a call from one of the team. He's asked me to book my car into the garage and he'll seak to them when it's in there. So, I've booked in for 13th Nov (Yay, fri 13th) and he'll hopefully call them up
  19. It was in the review f the Golf 8 on carwow. Thought I’d try it out when I got the octavia and success!
  20. Try saying “my bum is cold / hot”. I’m sure there’s a better way but that works (Thanks to Matt from Carlow for that one)
  21. There's 2 different lights. One under the door projects the Skoda logo and one under the door mirror for puddles etc. I've got the SE L First Edition though.
  22. Has anyone had problems with the Matrix LED alignment? Driving home tonight I noticed the beams seemed to be drawing their blanking arc a little bit to the right. Oncoming traffic seemed to be blanked out correctly but it just seemed to be a little bit to the right when looking at the back of the car in front.
  23. Same thing happened to me. Held power button for 10 secs to reset it and it let me back in.
  24. I think the voice activation gets turned on if there's a software update. It's happened twice on mine so far.
  25. I spend a lot of time driving UK cars in France and I'd happily switch over to metric but not only can't I change my sat nav to give measurments in miles but I can't change the dash over to kph and there's no secondary tick marks on the dials. It makes it a tad tricky to drive the right speed when you're over there. I could always use waze on the phone but that's hardly safe
