  1. Yes I hear the ringtone when making a call. I haven't actually used it for an actual call, as I don't do too many long journeys and just pull in or don't take call while driving...don't get to many calls anyway. However, I tested it with the answer machine on the landline in the house and wasn't too impressed with the quality of the pickup, mainly the sensitivity of the mic in the PID. The incoming audio is fine.Yes try the hard reset, that seems to solve a lot of problems. Failing that consider reverting to the backup, if you made one, and see what happens.

    PID gripes

Be interesting to see how they respond to that. I have told them that I personally intend to pursue this to finality. I will want them to admit that the software does not function fully for Mac and never has since inception. You could never ever purchase anything through Navigon Fresh, and never reclaim the maps update voucher offered through it either. For some time now there is a 'CG2009' error preventing login, so that no activity is possible. In other words the PID can not be updated for firmware, maps, or anything else such as purchases etc. The unit is not 'of merchantable quality' nor fit for purpose for Mac computers. I will want them to publicly acknowledge this and recall all units sold to Mac customers that wish to return their unit through their dealers for full refunds. What they are doing is morally wrong and amounts to deception. I am surprised that Skoda and the other VAG companies have not rowed in in support of their customers. It will come home to roost though as they are in the first instance responsible for refunds under sale of goods/consumer protection, and it is up to them to seek redress from the supplier.

    PID gripes

Well if you have some time to spare have a read of my communications with Navigon. Though I haven't contacted them now for a few weeks......i'm giving them until the first week in February, and then I will raise stink every which way I can if the issues are not resolved. Just to confirm..I'm a Mac operator as well. I have to say that having been on the net for 20 years I have never come across a company that is so incompetent. By the way my first PID completely bricked and failed to go beyond the splash screen in the first day or so and a replacement was agreed. The garage replaced it, but incomprehensibly have not returned it through the network. The attached emails are virus free...don't worry, if you care to wade through them. You will either laugh or cry. 4. Try a hard reset. Hold the off button while pressing the reset. Were you good and did a backup before updating so that you can always go back to the previous version
  5. Fitted the dual element bulbs this afternoon. The second bulb fitted did not light the parking light element initially. Inspection highlighted that the contacts on these bulbs are a single wire, whereas the Skoda originals and the single element version of these had the contact wires turned back on themselves to form a double wire contact. This means that the contact area is not as wide, so I aligned them and pulled them out a bit for a springier contact and that did the trick. Here they are partnered with Philips Extreme +100. Happy. PS. The original Skoda installed running lights can be seen in the first image of my post #22 on the previous page to give some indication of the difference in colour temperature.
  6. Batman, Batman...looks great. Bit of a nightmare for parking. I guess Batman would have parking cams/sensors though to help.
  7. They adopted 131 here Rep. Ireland.
  8. I can confirm that City Safe can be turned off also. There is a momentary button just forward of the gear lever. Confirmation of status appears on the console display.
  9. Welcome! I have a Silver Leaf Elegance and the Nano Titanblack upholstery, and I think it would be an ideal upholstery colour for a family car. All dark tones. Check it out.
  10. As far as I'm aware Colin there is no stipulation as to how they are fixed to the windscreen. Yes the insurance and NCT certs. are square, but I don't think mounting the tax disc separately would look better unfortunately, notwithstanding how nice the tax disc holders look.
  11. Over here we have to display Tax, Insurance, and NCT (MOT) side by side, so ugly plastic triple pocket for me :(
  12. Well that's good to know, though at present I don't have any noises at all except a little bit of a low rattle in the gear box immediately after a cold start. Pressing in the clutch eliminates it, but it is gone anyway after a mile, presumably when the oil circulates and heats up.
  13. Thanks Oldstan and CortinaGT and for all helpful advice received. I think the topic has run its course :-)
  14. Hey guys thanks a lot for taking this topic on board and for all the good advice. It is good advice too to look before leaping. As I mentioned earlier I will see what the dealer says. I said when I first brought it up that I would get back to him in a week or so. I will let you know what he says.
  15. Oh that might explain it then. I rarely, if ever at all, have used heating or air con in that way. Modify that practice and see does it resolve.
  16. Thanks Oldstan. That looks suitable. When they say 'not suitable for overpainting' I presume they mean not to paint on top of it.
  17. We have had some cold nights here down to a little under zero. Most though not all mornings when I get into the car any ice has melted, as being retired I am not off out until mid morning. Any early starts I did not notice any ice or water inside the screen, but perhaps it was not as cold as you have experienced. For ice to form on the inside I assume there would have to be humidity in the car. Just wondering if you haven't been using the air con if using it for some time before parking for the night would help, and would temperatures already be at or near freezing by the time you park? Those factors combined might perhaps encourage ice formation on the insde.
  18. Really enjoyed that. The robots were spooky. Love to see one for the Citigo, even though seen one seen them all. I remember many years ago the inference was that one day robots would do the work and we would all reap the reward of our technological advances by having loads of leisure time and very comfortable lives.
  19. Nice! True what you say about grey. We had a grey Nissan Tiida metallic and I hardly ever needed to wash it.
  20. @ CortinaGT and Crista. Thanks for all that. I did a comparison of all three tyre/wheel options and the dimensions by which they fill the wheel arch are within a few millimeters of each other ( I got 3mm max difference), so the biggest difference is the Greentech spec difference of 15mm. What you say about the alloys letting more light through is a contributing factor too, which I had not considered. I'm not bothered at all about noises. The only one I have is a little low clatter at start, only when the engine is cold (release bearing?) It's gone in a mile. Proper rear wheel arch linings would have been very welcome though and failing that paint em all black. Be interesting to see what the dealer says about sealer application in black and any implications. I'll report back.
  21. Didn't know the Elegance 75PS was lowered. Why so? There does seem to be quite a lot of space above and around the top of the tyres on our Elegance 60. The tyres are 185/55 R15. Would that be relevant? I have asked the dealer to look into suitable treatment and also the warranty issue. I hadn't planned to ask him to put it in writing though. I kinda felt that since it was my query that it would be a bit cheeky. As you emphasise it though I guess I should mention it. If the reaction was bad I should consider scrapping the idea. The other thing that just cropped into my mind now is the VW purchase agreement. Can't recall, without checking if there was anything in there about mods.
