  1. I thought this had sorted itself out but whatever reason, connected or not, the GPS function is not working which is a bugger when you get in traffic everyday without it. I think I've finally had it with this P.o.S. phone.
  2. It turns back into a pumpkin!Good luck with the Smart, they've never been on my radar so I don't know anything about them.
  3. Alto was too small for us, as Phil is looking at Picantos and i10s it might be big enough. I did originally start looking at newer type Swifts with a £5000 budget but in the end (wisely) went for something cheaper. We don't do many miles in the Ignis, the long trip was for ****s and giggles so we'll have to put up with it for a bit.
  4. Not rooted at all.I got a the apk off a site called apkmirror, it seems to have calmed down now, things have updated (not android though) and everything is working so I'll see how it goes.
  5. I've managed that now, a load of app notifications came through but I'm getting one that say the app architecture does not match my phone's.
  6. I'm reluctant to do it (lollipop) that way as it will wipe the phone. Trying to load a kitkat compatible apk for the app now. Hope it's not dodgy...
  7. Somehow I/my phone lost this app last weekend and I can't get it back on my phone. It's one of those background apps that you need to run a multitude of other apps, especially the Google ones. Obviously I've Google this problem but I'm struggling with the remedies. Anyone come across this before? Nexus 4 running 4.4.4, - I've noticed the reminder to upgrade to lollipop has disappeared so I don't even know if I can so that anymore.
  8. Magnetic filters are only good for crud from radiators or steel pipe afaik so they have a use but not a premium price. scale will need to be treated chemically or if you look online it seems that lower water temps also help - why your kettle scales more than other things.
  9. No it'll be the 1.4 8v from VW with a belt not a chain. I ran an ibiza with this engine (APQ there were a few variants). Not the greatest engine but a plodder. I broke the (manual) gearbox not the engine. Waterpumps and belts is important but same in the polo 16v. The 8v is only 60hp but the arosa is a bit smaller than a polo/ibiza.
  10. She might like the Ignis but on local trips the economy is shocking. I've done one long trip in it and frankly I was worried that we wouldn't get there on a full tank - 200 miles, 30+ litres to fill. We did manage it with the steady motorway driving but it still wasn't great and might have got 250 miles out of the tank. Maybe the 1.3 is better.
  11. a reasonable shout, my dad has a 59 but I'm not sure how cheap they are. I know I commented earlier but this is my full personal observation - not advice - observation on small autos 3 x Chevrol-aewoo Kalos - Ok car threw up some consistent engine faults over the years. Chevrolet Aveo - better than the Kalos, less faults. They're actually not that bad. I think they're pretty practical, good size inside although I'm not sure how economical it'll be. The one I know is a 1.4 - better than the Kaloses I'm told. Conventional auto, imho you could do worse. Mitsubishi i - My dad loved this but wrote it off. very economical, suprisingly good for space but mid engine/RWD, oops. Mitsubishi Colt - this is fine, nothing major has happened that I'm aware of. K11 1.3 Micra - this was a shed but engine and gearbox ran fine even when I scrapped it. However I always had the feeling it was a bomb waiting to go off. They're getting very old now and have a few consistent niggly problems thta get annoying after a while like burning out headlight connectors, burning out heating blower system resistors, and regular rust repairs. Personally, I'd only want a good one that I was sure worked in the troublesome areas as otherwise they were quite likeable. I didn't even mind the CVT gearbox Suzuki Ignis 1.5, 55plate - Don't, not economical with a thimble for a fuel tank and apart from the (good) angry noise the engine makes I don't particularly like driving it and other road users give you no repsect - even less respect than the battered old micra was given presumably because people thought you were some desperado with no money and nothing to lose when driving it. Oops nearly forgot the Metro, sorry, Rover 114. Really dont't, not that anyone would now, that was over 10 years ago. HGF a-go-go. When looking recently at this price, sub £3000 I found that VAG products were far more than other brands and I'm not sure you can afford to pay that premium at this level. My preference would have been a Note or a Jazz. Notes are cheaper than a comparable Jazz but the Note is far newer so its harder to find a cheap (sub £3k) model. I also would have given the Ford Fusion a chance but like the Note and Jazz, my wife didn't like them. She didn't like the K12 micra and from what I'd read, I wasn't sure on the thing either. The Note on the otherhand seemed ok in that respect. Before the ignis popped up, we were looking at a Rav 4. Seeing that she's hit things twice in the ignis and been done for speeding, I'm actually glad we have the ignis, not a Rav.
  12. Not seen that before either. There's on I see occasionally that is 50ckx or something like that. Anyways, saw K155 DNT this morning, see it quite a lot, currently on a McClaren but used to be on a Maserati GT and others I'm sure. I'd guess it's whoever runs kiss dental
  13. Good luck, you'll need it. Its a struggle to find a decent under 10 year old small (not city) automatic for that price. I know, I've tried but going private should help you. That cat c does seem cheap, are you sure the story is the truth? Small autos do seem to be a large bill waiting to happen though.
  14. So would I. the early CX7s were the 2.3T from the before Mazda realised it was commercial suicide and swapped it for a tractor engine only. Shame the 7 isn't auto. Another one I like is the early (better looking) Nissan Murano with the detuned 350z engine. I'd be happy with a v6 cayenne or Toureg too.
  15. Mender, goneoffSKi - Suzuki ownersPlus maybe skinnyman(?) with ignis igrip. Quite a few Swift owners on here too.
  16. Another auto? I have to say my wife's 1.5 ignis auto is terrible on fuel and the fuel tank is the size of a thimble. I know lpg would help cost wise but I'm not sure if it helps enough.
  17. He just might die with a smile on his face after all
