  1. This is an excellent Topic. Not new by any means, but some of the responses and contributions are really quite good IMO.
  2. I was thinking exactly the same thing. It is indeed a costly and extreme venture... Each to their own..
  3. Thanks for this. Much appreciated.
  4. Sorry to Hijack this thread, but it interests me greatly as I'm looking to buy my next car real soon. @toot : I have a question for you please. I know you can't disclose the details at the top of the pics which you've attached, but what is the title of those reports please? Reason being, I've been able to get hold of the 'Service History Certificate' for my future car, but not a breakdown of the parts used etc? Thanks in advance.
  5. Hi. Did this fault ever get resolved? I appear to have the same symptoms.
  6. Hi. Thanks for uploading this. It pretty much confirms what I/we already knew... My current Octavia 150Tdi/DSG is also pretty 'Night & Day' when it comes to winter vs summer driving MPGs. I've had most of the Skoda/VAG TDIs in the range over the years, i.e. 90Tdi, 105Tdi (Greenline Superb 2), 105Tdi (Non- Greenline Octavia 3) 110Tdi (Octavia 2) , 140Tdi (Octavia 2 L&K). All of them showed the same pattern as your beautiful Graph, above shows. It doesn't feel nice to see a 10+ MPG difference from best to worst, but I guess it is what it is.

During Lockdown (2021) I had a an Octavia Estate 3 1.6TDI 5 Speed. (Not the Greenline Model). keeping in mind that the road conditions at the time were (once in a lifetime) abnormal, i.e. empty motorways, no queues, and with a 50mph speed restriction at the time on a big section of the M4. On my way back from Basingstoke to Chingford (A33, M4, M25, A10). On that journey I clocked up 84MPG (Peak) with an average of 74.6MPG for the whole journey. Well chuffed! I'll never ever repeat that I'm sure, but I have to admit, it did feel good ๐Ÿ™‚
  8. Out of curiousity, did you manage to get the warm starting issue sorted? If so, what was it in the end? Reason being, my car, a 150TDI DSG has just started displaying the same horrible symptoms ๐Ÿ˜’
  9. That is s nice series of mods so far. Very cool. Where did you source the ambient door and dashboard lighting from?
  10. Just checking in on this What I've written below is probably academic now, as you've either bought it, or passed on it, but in answer to your question I guess I would check to see what MPG it can achieve on a run, plus what the Long -Term MPG shows... After the last experience I'd also be keen to team up with one of the VCDS partners on this Forum's list and ask them kindly whether they're willing to come with you to check the DPF stats (for a sum of money for their time, fuel and inconvenience, of course). Might seem a little excessive, but I wouldn't want the same to happen again.
  11. Wow: That's quite a big spec list... IIRC There aren't even that many models which were spec'd with the Trio of Pano roof, beige interior, and DCC suspension, let alone all for 15K. The L&K on both cars comes with a lot of those toys, you'll also find 'em on some of the more lavishly spec'd SE L models. As a compromise, I guess that some of the important questions are... 1) Which (Much prefer) option(s) are you most willing to give up if needs must? 2) Do you have a compromise on the mileage, or are you not to fussed about high (as in 100K plus) mileage, so long as the service history is comprehensive and correct? 3) DSG or manual?
  12. Hi. . That last comment you mention immediately above could be a boost leak, DPF issue raring its ugly head or a multitude of similar issues. I'd have it scanned/diagnosed ASAP, to save the car leaving you stranded many miles away from home. Good luck & please post your findings.
  13. I'm interested to see how this one plays out. Sounds like a great car with a 'Worse than V6 Petrol' fuel economy at the moment. Hope it gets sorted soon and can't wait to read what the fix is/ was.
  14. Hi. Great job. Looks fantastic. Just out of interest, how much would would this retrofit cost all in supply and fit please? 2017 Octavia SEL, Facelift? Thanks
  15. Hi. I think that the VRS Model has LED fogs fitted as standard. What exactly did they do to the ECU? Economy id performance remap? Thanks
  16. Looks really good. We eagerly await updates ๐Ÿ‘
  17. This Topic is a real concern... I thought that we could all start to sleep a lot easier after the long gone days of pull out & face- off head units?๐Ÿ˜ฎ It's not like we're able to relocate the Bolero, Amundsen, Columbus unit easily (as far as I'm aware?) I feel really sorry for the OP...
  18. Just showing a bit of interest/curiosity in this topic.... @Steelyboy. Sounds like an obvious question, but out of interest what made you choose to go from 225/35/19 on an Octavia all the way up to 225/45/19? As mentioned 235/35/19 Would have given a fairly good compromise by upping the sidewall height slightly from standard (comfort), whilst at the same time keeping the Speedo reading as close as possible? PS: Great looking car by the way.
  19. Hi there. 10J๐Ÿคจ Not Poking out? I've not tried to myself, nor am I likely to, but rims of this width would almost certainly poke out of the arches. Suspension clearance might be an issue too.
  20. Welcome to the VAG world of stinginess my Friend ๐Ÿ˜€. I agree with you though, some of the 'Standard' specs of Ford and Vauxhall cars would put Audi, VW, Skoda & Seat to shame...
  21. Apologies @ Sasha Grace. I cut this Pic from one of your your 'Epic' Build thread Pages (Page 62) just to illustrate the Part Number for the OP. I hope you don't mind? I think you may need to purchase the Glossy Panel cover separately: Link to Sasha's Build thread...
  22. Hello toni8b Funnily enough. My Octavia 3 DSG seems to be doing similar to what you describe > Varaderoguy has given some very useful advice... My symptoms are: Cold start = Starts on the button every time. Warm/hot starts = Takes 5-6 attempts to start. Sometimes If I remove the Key from ignition and go through the start process again that works. This can be really annoying, embarrassing, dangerous because of that damn stop/start system! I've been asked on more than one occasion whether I actually know how to drive properly since I cant even manage to start the damn car . One thing I have noticed is that my starter motor does seem a lot more 'Clattery/Juddery' than usual, so I'll probably loan a battery for a few days, to prove that before taking the plunge and replacing the starter. I've just come across this thread from the Octavia Mk2 Forum which looks similar to yours.... Problems with Warm Starting. Please take a look. Particularly at Post #37
  23. Thanks Guys for taking the time to respond. Much Appreciated .
  24. Thanks fane87 for letting us know what it takes to get those wheels on. That looks very impressive, but those tyre stretches look (to me) quite severe? Maybe not for everyone?
  25. Jeezus fane87: Could you please talk us through what Tyres, arch modifications and anything else you needed to do in order to get those monster wheels to fit???
