  1. Sounds fantastic. I have bought a Match 5.4 but need to get a loom, so I'm interested. Do you have any pics or details of your install? It'd be great to see them.. Thanks.
  2. Fair play to you man..... This level of perseverance and sheer man hours spent is truly remarkable.... And a great Read!
  3. That Comment which the service guy made does look to be correct, according to the Cam Belt Guidance change which I picked up from a member on these Forums... So much conflicting information about this - it's mind boggling...Worth a read though.. HTH Cam Belt Guidance change (1).pdf
  4. Oh man. That is great news. Good Job! The 150TDi is a sound choice and all SE Ls are well equipped. You've done your research and chewed over all of all of the posts, so as long as you're happy then its a winner. I think the Spare Wheel size (16") which you have is fine (IMO, not everyone's), but there's always the option to buy larger if you so wish... Thanks so much for the update.
  5. Hopefully @Carlston will be along later and see this. He seems to be a bit of a specialist when it comes to suspension components and part numbers. Certainly helped me out with a recent query, so might well be able to do the same here.
  6. Hi OP. We're all wondering... Have you managed to make a purchase yet? If so what did you get? Thanks
  7. White Triumph Dolomite 1500HL... CHM 342V.. I'm a bit of a Saddo with old registration Numbers too. Maybe just a Saddo full stop 😂.
  8. Its just my opinion. Not everyone is going to agree, so fair play. BTW Min are 6.5J and ET51 which doesn't help things at all 😊
  9. Attached... I didn't find out about this VAG policy until the very day my Cambelt & Water pump were in the process of being replaced.... Typical! At least I now have peace of mind - to compliment my empty wallet 😆 Cam Belt Guidance change (1).pdf
  10. To be honest, most Superbs WILL come with either18" or 19" wheels. 17" wheels are the exception, and come fitted as standard to the Greenlines (like mine), and maybe a few other models... In my honest opinion 17" wheels on a car of this size might ride nicely, but they look like Toy wheels, especially as they're either only 6.5J or 7J wide. From a side view they look Ridiculous (IMO). RE: My early on comment about 'Full Sized Spare wheel' . There has been a lot mention about having the correct size to allow ACC to work etc. That is not really a major concern for me. So long as my spare is full-sized (i.e. not a space saver) then all is is fine for me. I don't need it to drive me any big distances, just far enough to get me moving, home, or just out of the way in the event of a tyre blow out in the middle of no-where on a dark night. (Been there, done that). M25 Watford stretch, and A33 Stratfield Turgis. Never again.
  11. Hi there. Although I cannot comment about the Battery drain. Could I/we please ask.. 1) What sort of Mileage you do daily/weekly? Are they Short, around trips or longer A road/Motorway blasts? 2) Can you can recall how frequently the DPF regens are taking place? 3) When your garage ran diagnostics did they report back on what the DPF Soot levels were/ are? This looks like a related issue from many years ago, although we cannot see what the resolution was Thanks
  12. Thanks for correcting me. Appreciated 👍
  13. Hello and welcome. There are 2 good comments and suggestions above mine.. From the choice of cars which you've listed I'd personally go for the L&K if your budget can stretch. The level of extra toys is just fantastic, not least the DCC suspension which is really good, especially on the 19" wheels. (If fitted). You didn't specify whether you prefer the 150bhp, or 190bhp diesel so it might be an idea to drive both if available. The 150 is more linear (imo), whereas the 190 really flies once that bigger turbo spools up. Also, slightly different road tax brackets.... NOPE. THEY'RE THE SAME! As far as I know the 190s also come with 19" wheels standard. Not everyone likes the ride of these wheels, so this is where the DCC help a lot. Do you prefer manual or DSG? If DSG check for the vital services every 40k for the 6 speed. This is Not the case for the 7 speed. Timing belt? A car of the age range, and mileage which you've specified I'd say shouldn't have needed one. Skoda recently changed their policy. If it has been changed already then all good . Silica bag in coolant tank: if the silica bag is still present have it removed..Mine has burst in the past and clogged my heater matrix. One telltale sign is coolant which looks like Tea 😕. Spare Wheel: Does the car come with an inflation kit or a 'proper' spare wheel? I'm sure others will mention some additional items, but check the above, pour over the (most likely electronic) service history in detail. Test drive and check the car over thoroughly, panel by panel. Maybe have someone scan the faults for you. Car should have 2, preferably 3 keys and handbooks. Hope this war and peace helps.
  14. Hi. Not sure if you have a replacement yet. Nor where you are in the country, but might be worth messaging this guy. (Even though 4 alloys is massive overkill, I agree). HTH https://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/skoda-alloy-wheels/1480656324?utm_source=salesforce&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Favourite&utm_content=price_drop_favourited
  15. I'm sure my stories would have other forum members falling asleep in no time. I'll PM you with the details later this evening though.. Thanks ☺️
  16. Thanks for your reply numskull. .. That's what I thought too, but what I can say is that I've owned 3 x Superb 3s in the last 3 months. 2 X SE-Ls and 1 x L&K.. (long story)... All are/were 2016 cars, (Although I need to confirm the actual Manufacture year). The 2 x SE-Ls = White Only display. The L&K = Red and White Display. To top this all off. I had a 2017 Facelift Octavia SE-L. and that had a Red and white display too... Really confused, but thanks for getting back to me.
  17. Hi all. I have a question for you please? This might seem like a silly question, and has almost certainly been asked before, but here it is again... Re: The 2 Maxidot displays below, can anybody tell me which feature, function, module, or build difference enables the red and white Car display, as opposed to the all white one? Thanks in advance.
  18. Hi all. Just Resurrecting this thread as I'm about to pull the trigger on a used Match 5.4 Mk1 Minus the looms. Apart from the Loom which comes with the kit, could any of you advise which loom you purchased in order to plug n play with the Skoda/VAG? Any pics which you might have taken during your install will be gratefully received. Thanks in advance.
  19. Many thanks for the above Ootohere. I'm feeling a bit miffed now as I'd very recently booked my 100K 1.6TDi in for a Timing Belt replacement at my local independent. They never mentioned this new policy to me 😢 Overkill for sure, but I tend to do it for peace of mind with all new (second hand) cars which I buy. Guess I should have dived into this forum more beforehand...
  20. Hi all. Does that (recent)? statement of 140K miles for Timing Belt replacement interval refer to Just Petrol, or both Petrol and Diesel? I can see that Ootohere has asked the same question... The TDi Timing Belt also drives the Water pump, whereas with the 1.4 & 1.5 TSi the Timing belt is separate from the Water pump. Might this have anything to do with this new statement or is it irrelevant?
  21. Hi OP. Just out of interest, how did you get on with the re-map?
  22. Carlston. That is very very informative. Thanks so much for taking the time to post such a detailed response. I really appreciate it.
  23. Hi all. I've just embarked on a 2016 Superb Greenline 3 Journey. Now. I know that the Greenline models sit lower than the SE-Ls - the Ride is ok for me, but too low, so I'd like to change the suspension out for SE-Ls. Preferably just springs alone, but if needs be, then the whole lot. I have some questions please. I'd really appreciate in advance if anyone can help? 1. Do the Greenline's also have different, (shorter travel) shocks, or is the difference springs only? 2. Would anyone be able to provide part numbers for Greenline Shocks n springs please? (Estate). 3. Would anyone be able to provide part numbers for SE-L Shocks n springs please? (Estate). Oh.. Any my VIN is: TMBKG7NP2H7037363. (Estate). Engine is the Super powerful 1.6 DCZA Engine 😆. Thanks.
  24. Ah. This is a subject very close to my heart. I had a similar experience 2-3 years ago. Hit what I thought was a pothole in the dark. Turned out when I doubled back and waited for daylight to arrive a very short time afterwards (after having swapped out the offending wheel for the spare), that it was a sunken manhole cover I'd hit. I parked up and took several pictures of the street location, GPS coordinates, road layout, offending manhole etc, plus the physical damage to 1 wrecked tyre, and mangled alloy wheel... I then tracked down the council responsible for that stretch of highway. Went on their Website and filled in an on-line vehicle damage claims form, detailing my incident and the indicated cost of repairs in the form of quotes. ( In my case 1 x knackered tyre, 1 x mangled Alloy, new wishbone, suspension alignment, and labour charges. What I received back from the council was a dismissive, (default) email quoting chapter & verse, the Highways act Section xyz and how they maintain their section of the public highway. I decided to dig my heels in out of principle and submitted a freedom of information request relating to when the offending manhole was last inspected AND for details of any other pothole claims made for that same manhole cover on that particular day.... Their 2nd response? Very different.. This time they pointed out that they would agree to pay my costs in this instance, but that this was in no way and admission of negligence on their part for the upkeep of the highway.... Now there's a thing... Sometimes perseverance and bloody mindedness does pay off. Just be prepared to dig your heels in. I hope this long, and maybe boring message helps someone else 😊
  25. I think we'll have to agree to disagree here. I didn't suggest for one minute that the owner was trying to hide anything. Suggest you read my comment again carefully.. What If the car was priced accordingly? Granted, that could well be the case, but if it is, please point me to where the OP says this? lets put it this way. If you're happy buying a car which looked like it 'might' 'possibly' need a considerable spend on it at some point soon without a price adjustment, then fine, good for you. What works for you doesn't necessarily work for me. We're all different, so each to their own.
