  1. Thanks for the reply, It's the Amundsen with canton
  2. Hi everyone, I don't use handsfree very often in my mkIII Octy vRS but when I tried ringing SWMBO yesterday (my phone is a samsung s20 plus which is paired to the car) when she answered I could hear her but it was like my mic was either on mute or it's fubar'd as to her it was a silent call. I did look in the owners manual but without success as they don't cover phone operation in there and it refers you to the "electronic" version which try as I might I just can't find it on Skoda's website nor did the QR code work either. Any help would be appreciated!
  3. I can see the difference on my dash, though that might be different to yours. The way I check if I'm not sure is to switch them off then back to auto while watching the dash if that helps 👍
  4. Probably nothing to do with your issue but maybe worth a punt. What battery did you replace the remote one with? I had problems with Duracell batteries in the remote for my Octy but Panasonic ones have been fine since
  5. As it increases the revs my money would be on a regen, especially as you say it happens the next time you use the car after an incomplete one has happened (as the fans continued to run after the engine was swithed off)
  6. You're welcome. If you park your Skoda in a garage after you've cleaned and washed the degreaser off and it's had time to dry out get a largish piece of cardboard and put it under the car. That way you'll see any drops of oil more easily and that'll help you see where it's coming from.👍
  7. Maybe an idea to get some degreaser and clean the area off, then you can see if 1/ it's still leaking 2/ if it is where abouts it's coming from
  8. You pays your money..... I've never took out an extended warranty on any car including the 3 Octavias I've owned since 2012 and never had to pay for anything other than normal consumables and servicing. Whether I'm the norm or not I don't know but if I'd taken out extended warranties on all the cars I've bought over the years it would have cost me quite a sum. Skoda offer them because it makes them money 😉
  9. I've got the Blackview 2 chanel one too. Just feed thd wires behind the rubber trim and pick up a switched live from the internal fusebox. Because of their shape they sit quite nicely under the rear view mirror and on the internal trim above the rear hatch. Had mine for a few years with no issues apart from if I let it use gps to set the time it is 12 hours ahead so I just use the manual option. The latest version of the app seems to work well and I can see both the live feeds and saved files quite easily. The only issue you might have is mine's a bit fussy on which micro SD card it uses
  10. It's not only the ved the chancellor is missing out on. The EV owners don't pay the massive amounts of tax the rest of us pay on fuel so it surely can't be long before that has to change too?
  11. Not exactly scientific but when I switched to e10 I noticed a drop in mpg compared to the old e5 so I decided to try some super unleaded and compared fuel consumption over 2 tankfuls, the first e10 then the 2nd 97 Ron Sainsbury's super unleaded and the results were that I got better consumption with the SUL which more than offset the added cost so have put Sainsbury's SUL in ever since. I've got a 2018 mk3 vRS 230
  12. After having issues with my remote fobs and reading on here that they're prone to stop working if you've put certain batteries in them I swapped from Duracell to Panasonic and problem solved so thought I'd cough up a tenner by way of saying thanks and supporting the site. It's been a while so hopefully the site is still a good place to be.
  13. What petrol are you using? I've got a mk3 manual and long term average I'm getting 36mpg. On a long run low 40's is easily achievable though I do drive with economy in mind. The reason I ask is because when I first used the e10 stuff I noticed quite a drop in mpg so have switched to sainsbury's super unleaded which is 97 Ron and It works out cheaper than using e10.
  14. I've had similar problems with my mkIII Octy keys packing up for no reason. It happened this week when I gave SWMBO my spare key so she could get into the car to get her golf clubs out as we were teeing off at different times. Despite testing the key successfully before I gave it to her when she went to open the car there was no red light on the remote when she pushed the button. Long story short someone came out to find me and took my keys back to her. Once I got home I changed the batteries for new Duracell ones all of which were 3v when I tested them with my multimeter. 2 of the 3 remotes then refused to work. Today some Panasonic ones I ordered off evilbay arrived, I changed the batteries in all 3 remotes and all 3 worked straight away. I've had problems with Duracell before- my Monimoto tracker doesn't like them either and although it works ok it doesn't flag up when it has a low battery. Changing to a different brand recommended by Monimoto solved this so I won't be using Duracell again for these applications.
  15. When mine was in for a service I got a citygo…… was I glad to get the vRS back😉
  16. I can't say whether what I do is the "best" method but initially I cleaned the 1 on my vRS with glass cleaner then coated it with a sealant, along with the rest of the car. When it comes to cleaning I spray the whole car with powermaxed TFR at 1:9 then rinse that off, wash the car with a lambswool pad, rinse again then dry with a thick mf drying towel to get most of the water off and finish off with a kent extrs large mf towels. Occasionally I open the sunroof fully and wipe round the inside with a damp mf cloth then follow up with some sonax BSD
  17. Quite possibly...… If you look at your video of the A556 before the 300yd marker the beemer was actually in the same lane as you (lane1) in front of the white estate car, The driver obviously didn't know where they were going as he/she signalled right then changed lanes, back into lane 2 thinking they didn't want that exit. Realising their mistake they then signalled left and tried to get back into lane 1 after waiting for the estate car to undertake them into the gap between you and the estate car that was there to start with but you didn't want to let them back in and closed that gap. if there was any lastminute.com drivers with local knowledge it was the large white van in front. Had you been paying attention then maybe your reaction to the beemer driver would have been more sympathetic....or maybe not.
  18. I'd say he definitely pulled in too soon-it's one of my pet hates too as you then have to reduce speed to get the correct gap. One of the techniques used by advanced drivers to establish when it's safe to return to the lane you were in prior to the overtake is not to pull back in until you can see the car you've just overtakens headlights in your rear view mirror. Obviously this depends on the vehicles and road conditions involved but helps you establish what this should be. Advanced drivers don't give a signal unless it's going to be of benefit/doesn't confuse other road users and in general on duel carriageways and motorways unless there's a specific need because of the situation I was taught not to do it when returning to the lane you were in as you're supposed to return to your lave after overtaking anyway unless you're completing a multiple vehicle overtake so the driver being overtaken should expect you to do this anyway. Obviously when done correctly you pass the other vehicle at a higher speed so as you return to their lane after making sure it's safe to do so you start to gap them anyway, so a signal would not benefit anyone
  19. As far as the scratches are concerned have you done the fingernail test on them? Run your nail across the line of the scratch at 90 degrees, if you can feel it, it won't polish out, if you can't then chances are it will. As a general rule body shops will want to spray the whole panel. You can upload photos of the damage to chips away via their website and get an online quote from your local repairer
  20. If you select the vRS mode button the eco normal sport and individual options come up on the screen. I just set up the individual option the same as the sports mode but with the sound turned off. It tells you how to do it in the manual somewhere.....
  21. 1. probably not-more likely there will be a SD card slot 2. In the hot areas of Europe many drivers have collapsible foil covered shades that fit inside and cover the whole of the windscreen
  22. It's a similar situation on the M40 during busy periods. The trouble is the MLMs don't see that they are doing anything wrong. I came back from Warwick to Worcestershire as a passenger last week on the M40 between Warwick and the M42 where the driver stayed in lane 2 for over a mile despite lane 1 being completely clear for the whole time after he'd overtaken a HGV as the gap between him and the next car in lane 1ahead of him by about 200m remained constant. He then got undertaken by one of the Audi/BMW/JLR commuters frustrated that there was another driver in lane 3 blocking his path. The comments from the driver were predictable and it went completely over his head that if he'd have returned to lane 1 as he should have after passing the HGV then the undertaking episode would never have happened as the driver blocking lane 3 would have moved across o lane 2 to let the impatient commuter past. Overall his driving was quite poor, he followed the vehicle in front too closely and clearly wasn't looking much beyond his immediate vicinity or do any forward planning based on what was unfolding in front of him. His wife was sat in the back giving him directions...….says it all really
