Mk3 (2016) gearing / idle engine speed.
Thank you, so it seems to be intentional then, I thought that it would have been the same as the others, so now I'm guessing that it must be part of the design of the Euro 6 diesels?

Mk3 (2016) gearing / idle engine speed.
I've studied this a bit more tonight, start the car and it goes to 800rpm and idles nicely, slip into gear, still idles at 800, release parking brake, stays at 800, release footbrake, no throttle and it jumps to 1000rpm, footbrake on, returns to 800rpm, is that the normal behaviour for a mk3 ?

What have you done to your Superb III today?
Mine doesn't have the adblu, so that's an expense saved, and VED has dropped from £185 to just £35 a year, "winner winner chicken dinner" 😃

On my way home from Mansfield, I actually achieved 66.9 mpg, well I say achieved, I actually did more but my sons phone ran out of power so he was not able to capture it.

TMC not working
I seem to recall from one of my Mk1 Superb's that the information was provided by Classic FM? If I recall correctly, when you first took delivery of a new car, you had tell the system which station was broadcasting the service?

Mk3 (2016) gearing / idle engine speed.
That is what I thought at first, but if you think about it more, is it? The diesels have plenty of bottom end grunt and I've known a DSG car to to stall? Yours is even a 190 with 40 more horses than mine so it should be OK. I was wandering if it's got something to with a being a Euro 6 engine as opposed to a Euro 5? Another thing I have noticed is that the Xenon headlights do their little dance routine when you first switch them on and they react to the steering inputs when driving, but I don't see any evidence of them reacting to type of road, i.e., urban or highway at all. In my Mk2, when I pulled up behind another car at traffic lights etc, I could see the headlight beams returning to their straight ahead position from their urban wide beam mode. Does the Mk3 not have this feature or has mine got a problem in that dept.?

My new to me, MK3 has a few groans and squeaks
Well, I'm going to give it a go if I can locate some foam in my local craft shop, and I'll let you know if it cures it. I'm not going to be touching the door cards at the moment, I'll wait until the 3 months warranty has expired before touching those, just in case anything should break while I'm in there. Interestingly, I thought I'd have a check to see if the other 4 Superb's I've had are still on the road, the first one, in 2004, light blue was replaced in 2007, appears to have been scrapped in 2008 🙄. The second one in 2007, in cappuccino, replaced in 2010, also seems to have met its maker in 2011 🙄. The third one in 2010 was in amethyst purple, replaced again in 2013, is also.. no it's still on the road somewhere. And the fourth one arrived in 2013, petrol blue, I purchased that 2016 when I retired and ran it until it got written off for me 🙄 2 months ago. So this Mk3 is now my 5th Superb, so I guess you could say that I love them.

My new to me, MK3 has a few groans and squeaks
The small bump stops are present on mine, and if I pry the plastic bottom off the actual armrest, the creaking from it seems to stop if I pull it up 1 notch. I'm thinking about packing some thin foam or similar in between them to see if that stops it. I have also noticed that if I rest my knee against the door card, that the door also creaks a bit then, it is so annoying when previous 4 cars never did that.

Mk3 (2016) gearing / idle engine speed.
My new to me Mk3 appears to be operating differently to the way my Mk2 used to, is the normal behaviour for a Euro 6 diesel? It starts and ticks over @800RPM, select drive or reverse and this increases to 1,000RPM instantly?. Also the Mk2 (6 speed DSG) always got into 6th gear as soon as it could whereas the Mk3 seems to have taller ratios and never gets into 6th until its doing approx. 50mph whereas the the Mk2 would be in 6th around 35mph mark, both are 6 speed DSG's, so are the Mk3's enjoying a higher gear ratio now?

TMC not working
Same thing here as well, I was going to ask here if there was something I was supposed to be doing to make it work in this car. It has always worked flawlessly in my previous cars.

Huge jump in premium!
No, I can't post it openly, much as I would love to, the company I'm with will not allow their members to flood forums with these links. Full disclosure here, I have to sent anybody who wants one, a personalised link and if that person then joins, I get an introduction fee as a reward. Then that new member will after a while get invited to send out personalised links to try and earn their own introduction fees. That is I believe to be respected and then anybody, who like me, think it is a good idea and can genuinely save money are free to do their own invites to their friends etc. If we kill it stone dead, then the scheme will cease to operate I'm sure.😇

Have you paid yet?, send me a PM and I'll ping you back a dedicated link that may get you a better price, well worth a try.

My new to me, MK3 has a few groans and squeaks
I pulled the bottom section of the actual armrest off last night and the creaking stopped, so it is something rubbing either between the top and bottom of the rest against each other, or the bottom part of the of the rest and the sides of the storage cubby beneath it. I might packing it out with some foam draught excluder , perhaps starting with the parts that are touching the cubby sides.

My new to me, MK3 has a few groans and squeaks
Yesterday I got my hands on my replacement car and during the long 145 mile drive home I noticed a few creaks, groans and squeaks that appear to be coming from the central console unit. Now this might well be pretty much common for this model 2016, but as it's a L&K its beginning to annoy a little bit, especially as my other Superbs (4 so far) this being my 5th, and none of the others had any rattles, squeaks, groans or creaks, but they were also brand new cars and replaced at 3 years each. That being said, my last L&K Mk2 was 9 and a half years old without any such noises, so I was wondering if this is normal for a MK3 or not? Another thing is that this 110HP diesel seems to be so much more noisy than the old 170HP in the MK2, is that the case that new ones are noisier or is by product of the weight saving maybe, i.e., the sound deadening is a little less efficient than the older ones? 🤔

Diesel Superb is better for the enviroment than a petrol hybrid Nissan Qashqai
What does the EVO stand for?

Diesel Superb is better for the enviroment than a petrol hybrid Nissan Qashqai
Hmm, well my old L&K superb was a 2013 (13) 170ps diesel DSG (139gm/km) and the new superb L&K 150ps is a 2016 (66) 150ps DSG diesel 119gm.km.

Hmm, true, this engine does appear to be noisier than my old 190DSG diesel, but that might be down to the fact the newer model is also quite few kg lighter so the actual metal maybe thiner and also have less sound proofing material being used, especially under the bonnet?

Trouble is though that I have not seen that figure quoted in any brochures, its always CO2,

Diesel Superb is better for the enviroment than a petrol hybrid Nissan Qashqai
Just taxed my new car ready for collection later this morning and while taxing it online, I thought I'd do a check for ULEZ compliance and see how it compares to the Nissan hire car I'll be handing back today. As it turns out, it was very interesting, a Nissan Qashqai petrol Hybrid with engine size of 1332cc emits 141gm/km of CO2 and is ULEZ compliant, the Superb diesel 1968cc emits 119gm/km of CO2 and is also compliant. So the diesel powered Superb actually emits less CO2 than a smaller petrol engine which is also a hybrid, so it seems that diesel can actually generate less global warming gases.

12v power sockets, are they powered down when you switch ignition off?
Yeah, I was advised to not accept the first offer of a pay-out, so I didn't and they flatly refused to budge or talk about what it would actually cost me to be in a similar position to that I would have been in had the accident not happened, they seemed to think I was being unreasonable, almost as if I had caused the accident and therefore should shoulder some of the cost WTF. When my car was retrieved from the body shop, the driver of the transport truck could not believe that the car was a write-off, it drove OK, and no error messages or warning lights, just body damage. Anyway, the car was taken away again by Copart last Tuesday and with 24 hours it appeared on their web site with sale close date of midday Monday by which time it had reached £1,750 and the reserve had not been met. Then they put a message on site to say that it been sold subject to approval (usually means they are asking the bidder to pay more) and then it was listed as sold, so it potentially sold at £1, 650 loss plus fees. The annoying thing is a fellow member here was looking to buy and repair it for his Son but his application to register with Copart was not processed in time, so he was unable to place a bid. The hire car was an automatic and was supposed to the equivalent sized vehicle to a Superb (really??) for 59 days was probably somewhere around the £100 a day mark so that's a further approx. £5,900 on top of the pay out that has to be factored in and if I really was to push it maybe the cost of the fuel used in my search for a replacement car and my time? I was not really going to accept anything less than another L&K, it was after all what I original chose and for was for a reason, I did not want accept a lower spec car.

12v power sockets, are they powered down when you switch ignition off?
After a long battle with the other parties insurance company, it was passed back to my insurance company, who took up the claim on my behalf. The other company only valued my low mileage car which was meticulously maintained with everything by the book and in good condition, at £8,200 after my excess was taken into account. It was impossible to get another L&K with similar miles and condition, same age was coming in at £11.000. My own insurance provider had my car recovered from the body shop and delivered back to me, and they appointed another assessor, who came back with a similar amount. I was however able to talk with the assessor and I had to explain to him the significance of what the L&K meant to the value of the Superb, almost doubling the entry price point to the Superb range. He went away and looked at what comparable cars from dealers were costing, and I also supplied him with 3 Autotrader listings for similar cars with considerable higher mileages. To his credit he came back with a value of £9,700 which I accepted as I had located a MK3 L&K, in the same colour as my old one and very good condition but almost double the miles, but the price reflected the miles at £10,500 and had an FSH and with no problems on MOT histories other than tyres and brake pads nearing their limits. These have all been addressed with 4 top-notch high performance tyres and new pads and discs all round, cam belt and water has just been replaced. The dealer has ordered and replaced N/S rear light (cracked lense) and a N/S headlight had only half the LED DRL working, these took a time to arrive from the factory. The insurance policy still had 3 months to run and to be honest, the premium has increased, but only marginally for the remaining 3 months, despite the car being 3 years newer but less powerful engine (150 HP as opposed to 170), so I'm pretty happy at this stage which I'm told is because insurance has generally gone up anyway. Have to see what the renewal quote for next year is going to be. During the entire process I have covered almost 2,000 miles looking at other Superbs trying to find one that ticked all the boxes and I have come across some real dogs and also a dealer from hell, but that's another tale.

12v power sockets, are they powered down when you switch ignition off?
Quick, question, I'm picking up my new (to me) Mk3 L&K on Thursday and I want to pop my dash cam in it before the long drive home with it. On my old car it was wired directly into the fuse box so was only powered when the ignition was switched on, however I don't want to waste time doing that again and running the wire through the A pillar and across the head liner before driving home, so will be plugging in the power socket. Is the power socket then powered down when the ignition is switched off or not? On the load car I currently have (Nissan Qashqai) it is. I won't have the time to wire it in permanently until sometime over the weekend, so will I need to remember to unplug it or not until then?
