FAMILY FUN AND NOSTALGIA AT OULTON PARK GOLD CUP

* Racing heroes of the past set to join Gold Cup celebrations

* Packed programme of historic car racing

The Oulton Park Gold Cup on August 29-30 once again promises to live up to its status as the biggest date on the historic racing calendar.

One of the most colourful events of the season, the Gold Cup weekend plays host to some of the most mouth-watering and evocative machinery around, from the Grand Prix cars of Formula One's golden age to the throaty sportscars of the 1950s and '60s.

With off-track action to keep all the family entertained at the Cheshire circuit, there will also be a galaxy of drivers from yesteryear paying homage to the cars that brought them glory. Last year, luminaries included Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Stirling Moss, Sir Jack Brabham and Derek Bell, with a similarly illustrious guest list expected this August Bank Holiday.

As well as the Grand Prix cars of the past, the Historic Sports Car Club will feature races for all of its 10 championships catering for fans of single-seaters, sportscars and saloons alike.

Which day or both days?

Probably just the one day I don't know what shifts (or where :D ) I am working at the moment. Also I don't think I could get a W/E pass out of SWMBO after selling the car :(

Sounds familiar.

I've got choice of this or the VW Jamboree in Newquay.

This is looking best at the moment, so shall have to chat with SWMBO tonight - only problem I can see is that the kids are 16 and 18 on the 27th so I suspect any party will be on the Saturday.

Why not combine two of the essential elements into vodka jelly and ice cream - sure to keep the kids quiet.

Based on the fact that we're in Cornwall the weekend before for a supergrass gig Oulton looks likely unless SWMBO springs a surprise week away on me.
