No door membranes (are they needed)

Featured Replies

It is coming from under the grey door card then into the car, When i opened the door and looked there was water drops running down from under the door card directly under the speaker housing.

Cheers guys.

Seal up the rear of the door.

Self adhesive sound deadening behind the speaker in place of the membrane should suffice as long as it's covering a reasonable area.

Thanks for the help i pent 2 hours this evening re-doing all the membranes before i started i took it thru the car wash and on removing the passenger front panel and rear passenger door panel you could see where the water splashes were from being through the car wash.

I have gone all round with silicone and pressed the polythene sheeting onto it and it seems ok, as for the speakers i doubled up the plastic sheeting and put some polystrine at the back of the hole.

One more thing why is is water gets in between the doors and splashes onto the door membrane, I was concerned as the wireing was damp - surley this isnt a dood design if skoda knew there would be components in the door such as central locking and electric windows?

I really put that in because of the other guy who'd piggybacked on your thread. In your case it's definitely the membrane that's leaking.

Sorry, No problem.

Water and a skoda dont mix very well!

Because you try stopping any water at all getting down a loose fitting seal on a moving piece of glass.

All cars have the same issues and water does go down all doors, hence they have drain holes.

Thanks for the helpi have had cars before without membranes on doors and they have been fine but then again all cars are different.

I think m winning the battle with the leaks now after nearly 4 weeks lol :)

No problem. I've never knowingly owned or worked on a car without door membranes myself, but your mileage obviously varies,
