Morning All.

My Superb is less than at the moment!. Just bought it but the interior lights dont work on door opening, (Floor and door puddle lamps DO tho')

Boot light also no go.

Door and boot open display ok.

F Nearside footwell is damp, but garage says this and wiring not covered by Skoda warranty.

Be real glad of some help.:confused:

Thank You.

JJ

How old is the car? Does it have a service history?

Sounds like water has got in and soaked the central convenience unit.

Thanks. Its 2003 with full history (1owner) and 29700miles.

Its great to know this site is read well..

Did you buy from a dealer or private?

Node joint under the carpet on n/s/r. Its a split in the interior light wiring, will have corroded due to water ingress due to poor pollen filter housing sealing and/or blocked plenum drains.

Been covered a fair few times on the site in the past.

30000 leaker eh, if you bought it through the network then I'd go in and talk about rejecting it as not fit for the purpose and watch the song change to ... well maybe we can help you out, and don't be scared to issue them with a court order.

Just thought to check my pollen filter seal, pulled the plenum chamber cover off, and there is the new pollen filter sitting there, i assume that there should be a lid there to cover it?Car was serviced at a dealer in J anuary, and new pollen filter fitted

Hmm... I'm not sure about this one either. I'm pretty sure my pollen filter doesn't have a cover other than that big plastic scuttle tray.

Unless I'm a few parts short of a car... :D

Just been to the dealer to complain , he says'' there is no cover/lid to cover the pollen filter '' they are all like that,to prove it, we looked at a 57 plate one that he had for sale ,that was the same . anyone know for sure? thanks i only have the big plastic scuttle tray on top of it.

That is correct, however in JJ's case they cannot sell you a car 4 weeks ago and then tell you tough luck mate, as part of the pdi I suspect they changed the filter and this will probably be the reason the car is now wet inside, don't be afraid to go to trading standards mate, they have a gentleman's obligation to you on this.

Let us know how you get on with Dealer - Good Luck

Registering my interest in this post, but cannot shed any more light than what has already been written.

Would be interested in how you resolve this, and I wish you good luck.

Update.

In garage today (a different one than before) Thay are having a look including the excessive oil consumption.:(

Good luck - let us know what they find?

Sort of good news so far.

They have said they need the car for a week to check for water ingress. Also lent me a car to go on with.

JJ

A good start then - I hope it continues in a positive way. Good luck and keep us posted.

Still being repaired (I hope)

Reading 'goodbye Skoda hello Ford' makes me wonder if I have done the right thing.

Does Skoda head office or whatever have anything to say to these problems? Surely all dealers would be aware of design faults and the repairs needed???

They back the dealer up ime, when I rang them the 1st lady was polite and seemed to want to help, then a 2nd lady marched in on it and said to me..."we've done all we can *which was about zero* you'll have to sort it out with the dealer" finally I spoke to another man who advised me to "let a different set of eyes see it" I gave up in the end, my answer to them is when the time arrives to get a new car it won't be a Skoda and I will be dropping SUcK a line to explain why a 15k sale every 30 mths walked away back to VAUXHALL.

Back to the drawing board.... Water ingress + wiring spec. excluded from warranty( surprise). However Telfords Carlisle are considering

authorising the work to be done in Chippenham and they foot the bill.

Hope hope hope etc..

JJ

Keep pursuing Skoda UK as well as the dealer. My car was out of warranty when I experienced the same problems, and it took several weeks of 'phone calls and a detailed letter before Skoda UK agreed to foot the bill for the Investigation, repair and a hire car.

The supplying dealer was most unhelpful, using the same tone as you have experienced by quoting that this type of problem is not covered by the warranty. The strange thing is that they carried out an earlier repair on the interior lights under warranty but there was no record of this with Skoda UK...........

Good news...

Telfords of Carlisle have authorised the work to be done and will pay for it. I think this is very good service - I was prepared to have to return to them but they agreed it was rather a long way.

Will see how good The Chippenham garage is now....:thumbup:

JJ

That is good news.

I'm really pleased for you - well done!!
