CHAVs and the vRS - Time to move on?

Featured Replies

On the way home from work yesterday, I gave a nod of acknowlegement to a black Mk1 vRS heading in the other direction. It is a car I recognise and often pass a greeting to the chap that owns it. A couple of weeks ago it appeared on a second hand forecourt in Scarborough and the bloke who drives it now has an Evo VII or VIII.

To my horror, it was full of spotty oiks in baseball caps who looked no older than 16 at the most. My first reaction was to think that it was nicked, the second that perhaps our beloved Octavia is now attainable by the youth of today. I was quite gutted as Scarborough is a small place and people have said that they have seen me recently careering around the place when I was either at work or at home with the car on the drive. This now makes sense...:(

It seems that we are no longer an elite bunch anymore, they have infiltrated our organisation.

I suppose it was only a matter of tme before they became too affordable. However it probably won't be long before its writen off!

It's not just Octies :( Still, you can take comfort in the fact that theirs will be Barried beyond all recognition in no time, and so won't look anything like yours soon! Then there'll be no chance of anyone else on the road confusing yours for theirs...

Yeah don't worry mate it'll either be stuck to a lamp post or have furry dice, a 6" stainless back box and lexus style rear lights. Will look nothing like yours. lol.

The insurance cost should stop kids buying the Octavia.Probably the same cost as the actual car

Good luck to them though I say.A good example that the Skoda badge has become acceptable

There does seem to be a small group of younger drivers buying Octy vRS', I'm guessing though they are all insuring as named drivers on their parents policy as I can't believe they'd be able to afford their own insurance.

Only one thing for it, all you MK I buyers need to sell up and get a MKII :P.

:rofl::rofl: lol.

Must say for my age at 22 I had to go Fabia VRS due to insurance costs on the Octy but do have my own insurance although having my Mum as a named driver is a bonus!!

Another question would be: Is it insured at all? That's the scary part.

I had a pretty similar response until we went on a weekend trip with them in their Corsa's, 206's, Punto's and Clio's although I had to stick with the mate with a Focus ST most of the weekend because we got there a lot earlier than the others so managed to get to the bar first. lol. They all keep their thoughts to themselves now as you can imagine.

Yep, me and Harry have Mk2s!!!

I'm only 22 as well, i have to admit i get some funny looks driving around.

I must say I like the look that says: "Is that his car??" or "How has he paid for that or insured it for that matter?" hehehe

i still think the vrs is over looked by the chavs in the main.

when i bought my vectra i felt it was the same then, not many chavs with them at that point. but then as soon as lexarse lights were made for them they suddenly started appearing everywhere!

btw do they make lexrse lights for the vrs yet? if so thats it chave central!!

NNNNNNnnnnnnnnooooooooooo........

Hate to say it but yes they do. Think someone's selling a pair in the "For Sale" section. Get yaself on 'em quick!!! lol.

They should be banned. Why would you possibly pay to make your car look worse!

Here here....;)

We should do a worst ever mods thread. The lexus lights would definatley be on there along with sun strips, neons and alot of graphics!

don't forget **** like shopping lists, and viper stripes...

Also stickers by doors "Blitz" "HKS" etc NICE!

I've always thought with almost any exterior styling mod, that the people who designed the car in the first place had a far better idea what they were doing than the person stood in front of the Ripspeed counter, and so some things are best left as they are.

Just my 2ps...
