I curreltly have a sony erricsson k800i and i need an upgrade! My son chewed mine so it doesnt work

I have found a cheap tariff which is important to me, but i have a choice of 2 phones - somy erricsson k800i agagin? or the new Nokia 6500 slide.... help!

any one on here done that upgrade?

I'm a big fan of SE phones so that would be my choice.

I have a 6500 slide and I have had a K800i in the past.

K800i is a nice phone all be it a bit dated now. The only problem I had with it was the joystick. It's not long before it starts playing up. I had the same problem with my W800i aswell. The new k850i has no joystick which for me says it all.

6500 is very modern looking and has a nice stainless steel case, makes it a little heavy though. The slide mechanism has a very high quality feel to it. It equals the K800i with a 3.2 meg pix camera but i think it takes a nicer picture.

They are both nice phones, personally i'd take the Nokia. Oh I also had a K850i, again a nice phone but the touch screen bit will drive you mad & the little pimple type buttons are a bit of a fiddle.

IMHO the 6500 takes a better pic.

My wife has the 6500 slide as a replacement for her k800i.

Seems to be a good phone, well made etc. Does lock up now and again, but so did her k800i

Pic is better from the 6500 slide and it doesnt get that "no network" pish like all SE's seem to get (even when standing next to a base station)

Recently went onto 3 network, same contract 500/500 £18 a month.

I have the 6500 'slide', and have some issues, chose it over sony 530i (like build of this phone) don't get on with Sony interface, my issues are>

Battery life, observe advice to fully discharge-recharge, but still quite poor.

Button response in menus frequently (and very annoyingly) fails, tone can be heard pressing buttons, but no response in menus (could be my phone?) three of us have these at work and have same problem. Thats it, yes camera is ok, but first and foremost its a phone. Can't fault 3 as a provider, cheap, good network coverage, comprehensive and fully itemised end of month bill as standard.

Out of the 2 mentioned SE.

But as others have said, try and get the 850i

well i bought the 6500 slide

much better than the k800i - nicer feel - better menu. I did have a little issue with it where no contacts were recognised. So i logged on to nokia, and reinstalled the software on to it. Works a treat now.

better signal too.

3 is a good network - always get covarage and price cant be faulted!

I have a small annoyance with my one.

When you turn on the camera 95% of the time it starts up in video mode:mad: A small firmware glitch for which there is no update at the mo, at least not for the Three network anyway.

Does your 6500 have the same problem?

I have a 6500 slide, very good phone in my opinion. Was an upgrade from a windows smartphone and it does everything I need it to.

Just make sure you get the latest firmware on your 6500 slide if you get one as the previous firmware has loads of bugs.

Mine does that too, but its not my phone, its me.

When I press black button on side to activate camera, if pressed hard/twice it

goes to camera>video, this is normal. ( not suggesting your's hasn't a firmware glitch)
