Had the TDI VRS for 2000+ miles now and its starting to free up nicely- love it:D - revs much better then my previous Furby VRS.

The lower grill has quite large gaps and Ive already noticed several dings in the lower part of the forward radiator (i think its the aircon one).

Can anyone suggest where I could get some nice mesh to place behind the lower front grill to stop stones etc ?? None of my local car accessory places have got anything suitable.

PS I find the pikey aircon mod actually quite useful and has got to be the easiest mod of all time.

Something a few of use were talking about recently, the car seems to really suffer in that area.

I do believe that somone was going to come up with a solution soon.

sorry to hijack the thread, but what is the pikey aircon mod? or is it just the cutting the tab off the back of the button trick?

Its all in hand just some minor issues to sort out like how to attach the stainless steel mesh to the plastic,pop rivets seem the only option so far but will keep you posted.;)Oh and before you ask i don,t know a price yet.

Totally agree it suffers a lot down there.

I'll be very interested in a solution if people find one.

I made a radiator protector out of 4 lengths of rectangular section plastic and stainless steel mesh from a garden centre. It's just a simple frame held together at the corners with small wood screws. The mesh is zip tied to the frame and the whole thing just drops into the space in front of the radiator. A couple of zip ties keep it in place. It's all a bit crude but works OK. I painted it black so it's not so obvious. I've attached a photo of it in place but if anyone wants more info I'll remove and photograph it tomorrow.

Well for starters pop rivets are not the way to go,But i got a lot of mesh in today st/steel as well.so as the boss is away im gonna play.

Do you think you can polish these out Ian??
