System finally in!

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Finally got the setup in! - pics to follow.............

Alpine 9030R MP3 4x50w

Rainbow 6.5" components up front

DB Audio 6x9 4ways in a shelf that I have built ;)

All running straight off head unit. Sounding fab compared to standard setup. Only slight issue I am having is that it sounds very bright. Even with playing about with the P-EQ and the Media Xpander feature it still sounds pretty trebley (is that a word?!) Any Alpine experts out there to suggest how I can dull the sound down a bit?!

Also, many thanks to Andy for his words of wisdom and cracking deal on the 6x9s :)

Cheers

Too much top is what I believe a sound engineer would call it.

sub and amp package maybe !?

is there no treble and bass adjustment on the HU ? i'd have thought you could get a decent sound from the 6x9's

once saw a set of DLS 7x10's in specially build boxes, these things gave better bass than most the subs on the day and the midrange and "top end" was crystal.

Alpine's apparently don't have simple bass and treble adjustment.............. or at any rate, I've have been through the manual and played about with the menus/settings and cant seem to find them..................

Probably just me being stoopid, but am sure Ive read a thread to that effect before.........

What rainbows do you have?

Oh, and hurry up with the pics, some people are impatient to see the result (like me!) :D

Rainbow's are Sound Line 6.5" components, fit in the Octy front door with no probs. Going to have to hang fire until tomorrow or sunday for the photos Im afraid - girlfriend is touring the country with my camera!!! :(

and how do I upload phots anyway?

My apline is such a BITCH to set up, you see 3 buttons under the volume holding these buttons down will bring up diffrent menus if it doenst this meens your deffet setting is on turn this off but pressing the volume button a cycling through the menu untill deffet is displayed turn it on/off by pressing next track button..this will unlock all the EQ settings... having deffet on will cut out any EQ effect...specifically look at the HPF and LPF menu this cna be found buy holding the middle button down chnage the filtered frequencies and reduce the high notes...the third buttom along will change your trebble and bass and also tune frequences as well...

Alpine's do have a seperate bass and treble controls. just a matter of finding them. or maybe the new HU's are different.

Alpines are not known for sounding harsh at the top end of the spectrum.

I suspect your Rainbow speakers my friend. I've never heard of them.

Are they budget or top end? Most aftermarket speakers do sound a touch bright tho.

How did u manage to get 6.5" speakers into the front doors? I struggled to get my Infinity 5 1/4" components in! Had to bend some metal out of the way cos they were too deep.

Also i can't find the Alpine model u hav specified. Is it a new or old model?

Kenny :)

Guys - first off appologies for not getting the pictures uploaded. Having "Page cannot be displayed issus" when using the manage attachments link when you hit the reply button. Also tried to FTP them to my webspace but that aint working either.... Anybody got any bright ideas?

Kenny, Rainbow's are generally viewed as high end stuff. If you go to talkaudio.co.uk you will see them mentioned a fair bit. If you're interested, have a look at www.rainbow-audio.de. I seriously rate their stuff. Im on the bottom of the range Sound Lines with separate crossover which retail at about

Alex - Many thanks for posting the pics. The third one of the actual headunit got bounced last night so I will try and send it again tonight.

Kenny - Apologies for not replying sooner. No idea when the RR is going to be up and running. The guys reckon pretty soon though. As Bedrock are a Scottish agent for Jabba I think the plan is to get Michael/Elton to come up for a few days :) ............... or so John was saying, in order to train the guys properly.

Here is the picture of the H/U
