Is this a regular feaure?

Featured Replies

Just been out to my Octavia 2 to get something from the boot.

Unlocked the car with the plipper NOT the boot unlock button--- the car unlock button.

Opened boot lid --OK rear hatch--got stuff out----slammed it shut------AND--- all four windows went down.

Pressed lock button and held on and all four windows went up.

So what made them go down? Is this something I know nowt about like both mirrors lowering when the drivers one is lowered.

 Thats a new one on me i'm afraid. Hopefully someone else can be more helpfull mate.

Not familliar with that happening either.

Only thing I can think of is the car open button on the remote got stuck down. Although how it happened when you closed the boot I don't know, something in your pocket or a ring on it perhaps?

Thats odd not experienced that.Sounds like a fault to me.Has it done it before?

Not happened before or since. Do modern car electronics have random stupidities ? A couple of weeks ago I switched off and pulled key out and got out and thought "Ay up" the radio is still on.

And it stayed on until I switched on and off again.

If I keep this car 10 years I reckon I will be finding out odd things about it. I don't mind odd things if there is some sort of logic behind them. I wondered if the 4 window trick was some sort of protection in case a kid had got in the car through the boot so the windows went down on purpose. Only prob with that is it has never done it before.

Sounds like you pressed the remote accidentally to me.

Hi ,I am a recent Happy Driver,

This has happned to me twice, once over easter when it snowed overnight, happly the wind was in the right direction! I think it happens when you press the remote in the right combinations, but I haven't found out which yet.

Generally I am happy with it ,apart for some minor niggles ,I can't read 70 and over on the speedo, coz the steering wheel obsures my vision, not VAG's fault cos I am a big bugger. The audible tick -tick of the indicators is too quiet, my passengers have remarked on that tho' I can't hear at all !

Have I bought the wrong car ? every one else seems to have vRS 's in blue, red or yellow

Cauppocino beige Ambiente 19 tdi DSG estate, Goes well enough tho'

When you slammed the boot perhaps the car thought it had been in a crash and dropped the windows for passenger exit?

WHAT ? Is that a regular feature ? Never found that in the book.

After I closed the rear hatch I began my walk round the rear corner and along the side of the car as the windows were going down. The plipper was in my shirt breast pocket. It was not in my hand or pressing on anything. So if your crash protection idea is pukka this may be the explanation.

Where is it in the handbook?

It's got a computer. With computers anything can happen!!
