Just been down the local BMW dealers for some lunch and had a nose around the new X6 in the showroom.

IMO a stunning car, albeit very unusual looking, like nothing else on the road, with the possible exception of the Murano. I particularly liked the aggressive styling and the sharply sloping rear quarter.

They appear to be selling quite well judging by posts on other forums, I think they will certainly hit the X5 market. There are many BMW fans who wouldnt be seen dead in a Porsche Cayenne, I think this satisfys that need & finally convinces me if indeed I needed it that the X5 was a waster, neither on road or off road. Interestingly I believe its built on the X5 platform, perhaps this is the car the X5 was always meant to be.

I love big cars.

My only gripe is (ignoring all the non car related BMW arguments) BMW went down a design route in respect of virtually the whole model range that (in the main) I just can't come to terms with.......Bangle's angles.

The same applies to this with the 'flame effect' or whatever they call it.

The X6 is a niche too far IMHO. If you want an off roader, get an X5, if you want a large coupe, get a 6 series. I just don't get the point of this car. Is there a point to it?

I think it looks awkward and ungainly as well, so the good looking SUV argument won't wash with me. This is an example of when marketing and design have a fight, and marketing wins.

I don't and have never owned a BMW, however I really don't get this regular attack on Beemer drivers. IMO if you drive/act like a ****, you'll be like that regardless of the brand of car you drive, I don't see BMW drivers any worse than any other.

Always found it really comical that Skoda owners persecute car drivers by their brand:)
