likewise it's always nice to see you around (I appreciated your post office thread a few weeks ago but postal "development" here in Sweden is so depressing that I couldn't find the strength to engage in the discussion).

You're right in pointing out that some lubricants dry up and one doesn't want that in a lock which of course is why other people have suggested graphite and PTFE/teflon. I've no idea what's in the bottle of lock oil I bought, but the label boldly says: "Long lasting lubricant for locks and fine mechanisms. The detergent oil first dissolves and removes the dirt and will not resinify afterwards, providing improved functionality and longer lubrication." (my italics)

Let's hope it's more than just fancy words.

The lock on the tailgate of SWMBO's Octy seems to be beyond redemption, though. The little "door" in the keyhole, supposed to keep dirt out, is completely stuck halfway so I cannot even get the key inside. Here I'll just have to rely on the central locking mechanism.
