TomTom Go 520 hands free

Featured Replies

I've searched on the net but can't seem to find a definate answer.

Can someone confirm if the bluetooth hands free function on the TomTom Go 520 works via it's FM transmitter so then coming out of the car speakers??? I keep seeing that you can have the directions and music over the FM transmitter but wondered if the hands free could work like that too or if it only comes out of the TomTom speaker.

Cheers

Dave.

Yes it does - works perfectly too... :)

I've not tried it through the FM transmitter, but I do recommend the external mic. if you're using it hands free. I find the TomTom internal speaker is perfectly clear for hands free use though. I tried hands free wired through the car speakers and started to get a sort of echo. I think this was just on the edge of feedback.

Numskull-Your wrong im afraid, the FM Transmitter is for voice directions and music only, not Bluetooth handsfree.

SurryWhite-The x20 series doesnt support external mics so I am assuming you havnt got a x20 but a x10 series which I think do support external mics?

Anyway,

Handsfree is ONLY through the built in MIC and built in speaker. In a quiet car its fine, not brilliant but useable.

PS. Lots of issues with x20 software at the moment, if you buy one, dont update it just yet, wait for bug free SW to be released.

Cheers for that Thomo.......

I don't go for 'official' software myself..... My GO300 is currently running Navcore v8.002 with TTS and the UK & IE v805 maps.:thumbup::thumbup: Only thing i miss is the left / right edges of the lane guidance screens which get chopped off as they are designed for the widescreen display. So when i do get one it'll be upgraded to the navcore 8 firmware anyway.

Cheers

Dave.
