i pod

Featured Replies

Hi

Just thought i would show the pics of where ive re plumbed my i pod into.

I had it in the cubby in the drivers footwell but this was a little dangerous if you wanted to wanted to do anything with it.

Ive removed the ash tray as nobody should be smoking in a car and cut a small hole in the bottom of the inner ash tray and then made a couple of brackets.

The only thing still to be done is get a surround for it any ideas would be greatfully recieved. Here is a couple of pics

The now you see it now you dont kind

REMEMBER ANY IDEAS FOR A SURROUND.

That is very neat! I like it. Mind if I copy? (although I was gong to put my sat nav there, I think it may struggle for a signal)

Yeah a nice looking job you've done there, top marks. Is the I pod still easy to get to get out? Will have a think about some surround ideas.

Why not hide an antenna in dash somewhere under the center vents and bring the wire to the back of the ashtray?

There's plenty of room behind the cd player and climate control units, you just need fingers and a T15 to remove both.

for your surround, why not get yer jigsaw out and make a nice little plate from mdf, cover in a suitable nice material, and bobs yer uncle.

can you put an antenna on a sat nav?

...and the MDF idea is good - you could cover with a piece of alcantara or carbon fibre to match the interior...

Most GPS PDAs and other nav things I've seen round here have a small coax connector on the back, just like a cellphone antenna connector.

As for the MDF, why not try an old plastic cutting board instead? You can also bend it by heating it and you can shave material off better.

Hi

Yes its still easy to remove i cut the hole so that the i pod goes through the ash tray and sits on a bracket i made which is hidden underneath with just enough to lift it clear.

The mdf is a good idea think ive got a bit in the garage

THANKS

That's a sweet soultion :) I did something similar with my previous Leon FR but the Skoda ashtray is too small for a full sized Ipod :(
