Nothing is stuck in this one as such it is actually a neat little unit just poorly installed.

It works by them removing the OEM connector from it's location in the dash and then refitting their own one. Everything looks perfectly normal from the outside.

My 6 months old Octavia vRS is an ex ALD car. will this have been removed/de-activated?

Sneaky.

I assume said device is removed before they sell the car on, but that sounds very nasty :(

Either way there has to be data protection act issues in that the driver and all drivers of the car are giving their permission to be tracked and the terms and conditions must be given to you along with a privacy policy.

I mean that data is easily linked to an individual.

I see a market for custom faraday cages on ebay. :rubchin:

Sounds like a money-spinner, seeing how all you'll need is:

...provided you crimp the edges properly! ;)

FM radio can be used as a detector....

I would think so but to check take a look at the OBD socket, you'll need to drop the lower knee panel.

Yes I've already had a good read of all that, trouble is like it or not they still have the data.

  • 2 months later...

these telematic devices has a capacity to connect different inputs and show them on the remote pc. Like temperature sensors, door opening, fuel guage, immobiliser etc.

i have a requirement to connect the fuel guage and my device needs the input cable to be connected to one of its cables for monitoring the voltage of the fuel guage. You know the fuel meter works under some levels of voltage. Ex: 0 V for no fuel 12 V for full tank, etc

anyone has an idea where I get this wire?

The fuel sensor under the rear seat bench?
