Sensitive alarm in Octavia II RS?

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I just bought a 2006 Skoda Octavia RS Combi with only 12.000 km, with standard alarm fitted (I found out..)

Nice car and everything, but since wednesday when I got the car, the alarm has triggered twice with the audible noise following. Pretty annoying 6 o'clock in the morning. Both the times no-one was trying to break in the car. I'm sure of that because I actually was standing 20 meters away from the car the first time and just had locked it with the remote control.

Do you know if the sensibility of the antilift- or cabinsensor can be adjusted?

- And where is the sirene located in the engine bay?

Thanks in advance

You can temporarily disable the interior sensors, there's a button on the driver's side B pillar.

The OEM alarm should be adjustable via VAGcom. You could also pull the alarm fuse, or I think pressing lock twice should disable the alarm and just lock the doors.

Alarm siren is under the o/s/f wing on our cars, no idea if it is the same on lhd cars tough.

The dealer equipment will be able to tell them what the last trigger of the alarm was, be it interior monitoring, or a boot catch.

Ive come to the conclusion this weekend that the interior sensors are pretty naff on the car. I tried leaving the windows open (for heat venting) at various levels and within 10 minutes the alarm sounded each time! Previous cars alarms have dealt with air movement just fine.

Why not just deactivate the sensor leaving the windows open then ? Thats what the button is for :)

Deactivating the internal sensors will obviously do the trick but it will also mean that someone could put there hand in and nad something from the glovebox etc. :(

Dare I say it but Ive never had to do this on any other car. I opened the windows on both my cars on Sunday - only the Octy's alarm continually sounded - and the other car is a Ford Fiesta!!!!

Yeah, the VAG factory alarm uses old technology, cheap sensors... Any modern alarms use microwave sensors, which are not sensitive to temperature, they only "see" solid objects.

When my new vRS was parked in the street yesterday a lorry drove by it and set the dam thing off.

I found if I ever parked on any incline the same would happen, be it truck or loud exhaust, IIRC its due to the tilt sensor being activated by vibration, but I could be wrong.

The standard Octy factory alarm has a tilt sensor?!

Purchased a VAG-COM from Rosstech, 46- Central Comfort - 10 adaption channel 14 and 15:

14: sensitivity for tow-sensor: 50 or 100%

15: sensitivity for cabin-sensors: in four steps 1-2-3-4.

Will try and set the lowest possible sensitivity for the two settings.

- and, coded the automatic doorlocks from 15 km/h as well as set the maxi-dot to km/l instead of L/100 km

Nice!

You sure there isn't a bug flying around inside? Happened to me before, found out that a moth had been triggering the alarm!

Yep, of course. Nothing to see or hear inside the car..

Yep, depending on which you get, one has/had only motion and other has both Tilt & motion.............the buttons on lower B pillar shows which you have (1 for motion, 2 for motion & tilt), they are for disarming either or both motion & tilt.

.. temporarily - until the next time the car is locked/alarm armed, where the two sensors are enabled again.
