hp sporting coilover kit???

Featured Replies

hi folks... anybody know where i can buy them from???

butt's of bawtry don't stock them any more :o

skofast.

Wonder if Jorily would be able to get hold of them. I understand he ships things over from CZ and HP is in CZ.

skofast lives out there, i emailed him when i was looking for some, cuz i was thinking of getting the race ones.

in the end i went for the sport ones from butts (lack of £££) but skofast was very useful and friendly.

I enquired myself with John from Skofast last week and got this reply:

Hi - many apologies for the delay in replying, computer problems, I'm in Middle Of Nowheresville,Czech Rep with a USB wireless modem and a signal that makes carrier-pidgeon sound like an attractive alternative. HP SPORTING Second one down id the 'fast road' set, all standard mounting points and series front top mount. Fronts lowerable spring mount with three positions,2,3 and 4cms below std, rears likewise but 1.5,3 and 4.5cms lowered. Approx 70% stiffer than standard. If you need spring rate info I would need to call him. The slightly lower 'tuning' setup is smooth tarmac only, like sprints and ****-ing about on airfields, in Czech 'tuning' tends to mean gruesome bodykits, pop-pop tailboxes and bass boxes thrown onto a sheet of felt-covered MDF. Top one called 'training' and 'rallyecross' is really an off-road only but is called such because all stage rallying here is on tarmac, albeit crap surface in many places, so in the case of GpA or N for more recent or current Fabias, they make the assumption of national tarmac-only events in the setup, anyhting different is extra. On the 'racing' page, Felicia 'vrchova' means hillclimb so very low and Felicia 'A' is GpA, their top system but I believe no change from a Grand English. The Fast road setup I can get and supply for their quoted Vat-inclusive screen price of Czk.10710/ £340, thats with springs, as you see on the screen. Disadvantage is that post/carriage is likely to be in the order of CzK 1500/ £48 - there is a Ceska Posta ban on insured airmail parcels to UK, no-one knows why including The Post Office, so the surface service is a non-starter, can't insure for anywhere near the true value, leaving only UPS or Czech EMS who are bordering on competent ! Forgot to say, the shocks are not adjustable rate, only ride-height. I await your thoughts and commentsRegardsJohn Shelley"

.Now I'm keen to fit something a bit more home made myself, but could well be tempted into a set..wonder if he does discounts on a couple of sets?Matt.

So the HP sets include everything... i.e. its a full replacement of the suspension system?

Would be interested myself in a few weeks... Maybe he can get discounts for buying a few?

well if somebody want's to organize a group buy on these you can count me in

I'd be interested been thinking of this ever since i bought the car and if i could get a bit of a discount i'd be up for it!

Maybe someone could get back in touch with Skofast and see if he knows about any possible discount.

Just thought i'm planning all this but have no idea how i'm going to fit them... DIY'able??!! lol

:sofahide: easy if you have the right tools

Rears probably easier than the fronts. Fronts - the rusty bolts at the bottom don't look too inviting.

Sounding fun fun fun!

Think i would take it to my mate garage and let him do the hard bit! hehe

(don't really have the tools BTW)

yes they are a compleat unit and the fronts only require 3 nuts and one bolt.

on the rears you only need to undoo two nuts and one bolt

No doubt easier said than done! lol

I had forgotten that they were complete replacement units so it would just be a straight swap over... no messing with spring clamps and the like!

I really want a set now!! Maybe time for the 0% credit card to sneak out!?

do it! do it!

Am i right in remembering that you have the HP set fitted pinkskud?

Should i also be looking into getting a better/stiffer torsion bar for under the bonnet?

Am also concerned about clearance in the wheel arches... Ive got standard 14" alloys on but my tyres are quite big.

Phil

yer i'm running HP's

you'll have no probs with clearance, and the standard strut brace is fine.

you might fancy getting the 22mm anti-roll-bar off a vw caddy mind.

Yeh had thought about the anti-roll bar... is it easy to fit?

Guessing its just a straight forward bolt-on?

mine has just arrived yesterday, i'll take some photo's etc to help other out... but you will need to split the exhuast system and release the gear linkage at the very least

and have a degree in contortionism!

Hello guys, greetings from Finland!

I got the disease last spring when I bought my first Skoda...well, actually I got infected already earlier when i started to drive rally as co-driver and now I have my first own rally car, GrN Felicia 1.3 that is now under construction and development to be at least near competitive in its own class.

I have red through this forum all the summer and now I decided to register and take part in your interesting conversations. I got LOT of questions but I start this ARB case. So, Caddy 22mm ARB is mentioned as suitable, are there other ARBs that could be easy-to-fit and has notifiable effect when thinking about rally driving on gravel? How are eg. those Caddy ARB own mountings, are they modifiable to Fel or do I have to make whole new ones?

Some facts about situation now, my Fel has Sachs shocks used also in SkodaMotorsport Fels and Favs back in the days. Front bottom arms are now original but I'm gonna swap them to bracing welded ones.

I had Hp coilover in the rally cars for about 7 years they are very good but 2 years ago I need new fronts ones and sent the old ones ot AVO in England and they made me 2 there as good as the HP ones and easier to get they prices wise there around £600 for the 2

if your felicia has an ARB and you want a bigger one, the caddy 22mm one will fit but you will need the 22mm inner rubber mounts.

if your car does not have an ARB to start with, then you will need new lower armsand both inner and outer mounts.

as for coilovers, i have been using the HP ones for about 2 years now and there still going strong.

No, I don't have ARB at all at the moment. Actually I haven't even tried Fels own ARB yet, yesterday I get information about one diesel Fel ARB in the nearby scrapyard and I think I will try with it first. Anyway it is good to know that Caddy ARB fits almost straight if I Feel that ARB should be stronger. By the way, I think we are talking about Caddies from years 86-92?

no it's not from an early caddy, it is from the later felicia based caddy pick-up circa 2001, the anti-roll bar itself is the same shape as the felicia bar, but it's 2mm thicker i can't be bothered to look up the part numbers but if you use the search function you will find them
