ive had abit of hunting about, but its got to the headache stage :orb_bonk:

and with more n more people having the remaps i thought what the hell lol

read a few things about them killing oe clutches and some dont, i have no idea

Get a Jabbasport map.

Revo is fine but i've heard its a little harsh

You will find lots of opinions (good and bad) on lots of different maps.

Its an imporatant decision - a good one will seriously increase your enjoyment of the car. A bad one can cause serious damage as you have mentioned.

There really is no substitute for doing lots of research in my opinion. Over time, you will also get a feel for which members talk sense and which are less convincing. You have to decide whose views you trust.

Read the reviews, but also try to get to some meets and talk to peole who have maps. Many would be happy to take you for a spin.

I can appreciate the headache stage coming on, but persevere and it will be worth your while.

anyone runniong a p-torque map on their fabia vrs? its only 275 or sumin so somewhat cheaper than most ?

buy from a reputable tuner mate i cannot stress this enough, what seems cheap now will most certainly not seem cheap when you have to add 600-700 for a clutch and over 1k for a turbo and god knows what else

I learned the hard way and had to shell out £830 (not fitted price) for a Helix and SMF

When I go for a map I will be after something with a smooth and flat power curve right up to 4.5k... I'd be happy with a peak figure of 160-165bhp and 270lb ft of torque provided that the curve went on further than some maps.

Does anyone know what tuner can do this?

Rich Washbrook is a tuning God.

See oscarli.com.

(you asked....)

Bas

^ wow it seems there is an oscarli distributer not far from me

I went out for a spin in a mates vrs with a jabba remap. aroung 170ish bhp i think, was amazed, difference was really suprising, keeps pulling at 4k+ Had it for a year now no problems i belive.

Jabbasport.

Excellent service from people you can trust. My map is superb - smooth, powerful and better economy. Big :D

jabba map is vry good, mine is awesome, pulls from 2k to 5k strong and linear, some say the jabba maps can be a little harsh on the standard clutch,i think i probably have the ultimate map on the standard turbo,162bhp and 346 ft lbs of torque at the WHEELS 173bhp at the fly,but for this you need an uprated clutch.

Gary,

I have just noticed your sig....

Well said Andy - couldn't agree more

For me, it was a Jabba custom map. With that information in hand, you can then decide whether I talk sense or not, and whether mine would be a good example to follow :D

Cheers,

Bad driving causes clutch failure/premature wear. I had a particularly harsh map on mine for 40k, no clucth issues at all, in fact, when the engine was out, I had the clutch uprated (hybrid turbo fitted now) and it still had alot of life left in it.

:iagree: entirely

I have made a point of not flooring it at less than 2200 rpm, and 2500-3000rpm in 6th. I was told this would save the clutch.

BUT for the best out of a map and to full enjoy the car a uprated clutch is needed. i love 50 mph onwards in 6th, lol ;)

I had a Jabba map on my car - was a custom one for an identical vRS on an ECU that I bought off a mate - and then had that tweaked by Rich sat in Bahrain hotel lobby.

While he did it, he explained all the parameters, was like listening to a professor going on tbh.

Rich's remap had more power and was truly linear.

This was before I fitted the FMIC and big injectors....

At that time Rich had a Polo TDI and used to change his map more often than some people change undies.... Sometimes daily, until he got it just right, then he tweak summat else again!

Lets put it this way - I'm very happy with my map, but I'm extremely impressed with the degree of knowledge of my tuner...

Do a search for ''P-Torque remap'' on google, and have a read of customer reviews in our Briskoda forum sections

We charge £265.00 all in for our stage 1 (members only) which is mapped around the stock set up, including the clutch.

We also offer uprated clutch packages, and custom mapping for those that want 320+ lbs/ft torque

Sounds tempting, how long would you expect a standard cluth with 41,000 miles on it (i.e mine!) to last with the stage 1 remap?
