Fabia VRS Special Edition.. PD160 intake Q?

Featured Replies

Was the PD160 air intake fitted as standard to the SE's? My mum is convinced her new SE is faster than her old VRS. Any help appreciated.

No, the pd160 is from a seat, could it be the case your mum's SE has been remapped and that she does not know it, I had assumed my car was standard when I bought it, but think it has been remapped before I bought it.

could be a bit faster with it being the newer engine some standard engines have been known to have upto 8bhp more i have seen

It was bought brand new from the dealer so it wont be re-mapped. She p/x her old black one for the new SE. The black one was an ex demo so probably had been abused a bit so perhaps thats the reason why?

I was sure i read somewhere on this site that they started to fit the PD160 as standard to the SE's. I probably imagined it.

Could be as Seano said depends on the engine, have a look under the bonnet and check the intake if it is narrow looking then it is the standard intake system if it appears bigger then it will be the 160, I've not got any pics at the moment but can stick some up the night if you like when I get home unless another briskodian beats me to it.

Her old one will probably have had the ASZ enginem whereas the SE had the BLT engine. The BLT engine met the required emissions regulations (which introduced a 'stutter' at around 1900rpm IIRC), but also pumped out a few more horsepowers as has already been described! Whether it's enough to be noticeable, I don't know though.

The PD160 will make virtually no difference at all to the speed of the car BTW, and while it might help it rev a bit more freely, I again doubt there's a noticeable difference. It's main benefit is keeping the soot down on a car that's been tinkered with!

Did she have a '03? Weren't the gear ratios longer on them which would make her new one feel more nippy.

My SE is definately faster than my mates 56 plate standard vRS, both with approx 14k miles on.

HTH.

It could be that blue cars are faster than silver ones ( although red cars are the fastest, everyone knows that, don't they?)

After talking to Jabba about my custom map, they commented on the BLT being more 'savage' in its power delivery and it throwing out more power as standard than the older and slightly smoother ASZ.

Might explain things a little I guess.

I have an se fabia and i had it rolling roaded twice at 150bhp both times

So have you not had anything done to your SE at all then Chris.

If so my quick up grade generic map may not have done anything for the running of the car anyway...

Damn, I knew I should've got a before and after! :dizzy:

any excuse to show it,this is my se bog standard

your map would have done something i would of thought but then evey engine is different my mate before mapping was only 143bhp with an exhaust so its hard to tell

Rollers are not accurate anyway as they all use a calculation to estimate the power at the fly from the power at the wheels.

That plus calibration issues, who knows which one is accurate.

my mate has a VRS SE model, and in a straight line theres nothing init altough to sit in his feels slighty sharper??
