Folding update

Featured Replies

That log suggests that the folding program is not working correctly at all. Looks like either a driver problem or an incompatible graphics card. Thats what my log looks like, but my card is not cuda compatible.

Well i have an 8800gtx which is listed as been CUDA compatible but i'm having problems getting the CUDA drivers working with it so thats probably what it is!

Phil

I'm running it on a gf8600gts with the 175 drivers.

Yesterday it wouldn't grab a WU, when I fired the box up today it grabbed one straight away and ploughed straight through it!

Half way through a second WU now. :D

Are you having to open the display window to get it to run?

Nope, it's just sat in the system tray.

To monitor it's progress I've got the log file open in Tail4Win.

If I try to open the display it now makes the mouse freeze till it manages to draw the screen. :(

I've since fired up iTunes and I'm running the visualisation (50-60fps) on my 2nd monitor and it's not slowed the folding at all.

The CUDA and PhysX drivers are now official and available from Nvidia...

As is the latest GPU-folding client :)

I've just changed my folding system as it was all getting a bit much on the power cost front.

1 Computer

DFI X48 T2R Motherboard (3 x16 PCIe slots)

8Gb RAM

Q9450 @4 GHz

3 BFG 8800GTX H2OC graphics cards

NVidia 177.92 CUDA drivers

3 copies of the 6.20 GPU2 client

12000ppd.

That's 1 machine doing 50% of the team's points. Fast GPUs are so the thing to have at the moment:D

All these guys with big graphics cards - where are the points? Even if an 8800GTX is only turned on for 4 hours each evening it would still do 1000ppd, and if you can bring yourself to leave it running 24/7 it'll do 5000ppd+, so I don't understand why we're not doing better?

My beta ran out and I've not gotten around to updating it. :o

I've mainly been using the PS3 of late so I've done the odd WU on that instead.

I've only got a little graphics card (8500GT) and it manages 2 WU over 24hrs.

That's still 960 points per day which is quite a lot if you look at how many active users we have. I've just swapped out an 8800GTX for a BFG 280GTX H2OC which is doing almost 10,000PPD just by itself:D

At this rate you are going to catch me in no time.

ignore it.. seems to be working now.

How did you manage to get your q9450 to 4gig? - mine seems reluctant to go above 3.2 :(

1. Lots of cooling2. Lots and Lots of volts - it will die, there is enough evidence now to prove that Electron Migration is a real phenomenon in the Q9xx0 series CPUs, but so far it's just fine.3. Very fast RAM. The DFI needs to run 1:1 so I'm running the fastest OCZ RAM I can lay my hands on.

At this rate you are going to catch me in no time.

Yep. And I've got another 10,000ppd (estimated) coming on line on the 3rd October when my second BFG 280GTX H2OC lands (HM Customs permitting)
