Sky showing new Focus RS

Featured Replies

its in this weeks autoexpress.... and yes 280bhp (same engine but bigger turbo and map tweaks, + SS exhaust...)

FWD... they say they've sent it to the ring withthe same group of people that did the previous focus RS, and the fiesta ST... apparently its gonna have a trick diff to put the power down.... says its gonna be electronic, and made by quaif.... wonder if it will work? ford are pretty good at this stuff.... think I'd prefere 4WD though if its power is approaching 300bhp....

Looks sexay as! like the green one better than the orange :D if only i could afford to buy and insure - its never going to happen :(

Yeah I mean if they can get that much power down then go for it, but if its in STi areas like they say then 4wd would have been better.

Yeah bet the mpg is pretty shocking as well!

Think it looks soooo much better than the old one and I love the colour

MPG would have been worse with 4x4 ;)

Don't forget some people have remapped VRS' to 270BHP and they are FWD.

FWIW, Standard Mazda3 MPS is 260hp and FWD and there's an overseas special edition "extreme" that's a standard 282hp and (unless this new focus is a new platform not just a mk2 makeover) the 3 and the focus share some commonality - just not in the engine/suspension/brakes dept, lol, so its not unprecedented to squeeze that out through the front as standard

Looks like I stand corrected on 280Bhp been to much for a FWD.:D

Was always under the impression that it tended to just pull the car all ways but forwards, however I'm always happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

Looks really nice i and love the black one

Just needs some chav strips and it's sorted.

To be fair the mazda takes quite a bit of electro-trickery to stop that happening and the 'Ring video shows it works

Just thought id bump this....

More "official" pics and specs HERE

Power will be 300ps apparently.. and they have developed "Revoknuckle" suspension technology to stop it understeering to the neerest hedge :rofl:

starting FROM £25k tho!! :eek::eek:

Think ill stick with what ive got :o;)

A company down the road from me are moulding and painting the bumpers for these

PH Headlines

An early development mule of the new Ford Focus RS with between 250-260bhp has been lapping the Nurburgring in 8min 27seconds' date=' PistonHeads has learnt.

The car has around 45bhp less than the production version and was driven by a Bentley test driver on a very hot day.

A source has told us that when the full fat version arrives with 295bhp, and with a racing driver at the wheel, we should expect a lap time of 8min 15sec or maybe less. We have also learnt that whereas Ford originally announced the RS will have 302lb ft when it is launched it will in fact have 324lb ft.

Meanwhile Renault’s new super-Megane, the R26R, has apparently been unofficially clocked around the ‘Ring at 8min 12sec but that was on Toyo Cup tyres. The RS is understood to have been riding on totally standard Continentals when it did its time, and now Ford is seriously thinking about offering Cup tyres as a brochure option for the car.

The bonnet grills are gash.

Dave.

I love it!

I like it  and in white with some black or anthracite wheels...

as for the bonnet vents, it's an RS and not a vRS; it's not meant to be a sleeper :D

I think that looks abso-f**king-lutely awesome, can't help but wish Ford had made it 4WD though!

The bonnet grills are gash.

Similar to any RS bonnet grill.

Those seats look a bit uncomfy :P
