Power loss vrs

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a Fabis VRS model 2005, which is gonna be 70 000 km.

For the past 3 weeks I have had a problem of power loss.

It started with a warning light (that according to the book is about the exhaust), and suddenly, no power under the pedal...

When I re-start the car, the power is back. But it can last for 2 hours or 2 minutes !

Skoda in France have kept the car for 2 days, they did not find anything. They simply re-initialised the calculator. The following day, the problem was back.

I shall leave the car again next week until they find the solution.

Have you heard about this problem before ?

Cheers

Alex

how about the maf, unplug it and dirve, if there is no difference then its the maf,

Could be the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve that has gone faulty or is just full of by products of the exhaust process i.e tar like gunge.

When mine went it felt like there was no turbo on the car and it drank diesel like there was no tomorrow.

Hi,

2 days that Skoda has been working on my car. They have done a lot of tests. All clear. But they still have not found where the issue comes from.

I am really worried now...

Any more ideas?

have you tried a new lamba sensor in the exhaust as this can cause loss if power as the fuel/cold air mixture is not set up properly.

If the power goes then comes back after a re-start, it sounds like it's triggering limp mode.

AFAIK a Lambda sensor is only applicable to cars running on Unleaded.

i had this problem when ever i give it some and keep around the 4k mark in each gear eventually the car goes into limp mode and returns to normal when car has been turned on then off could there be a fault then? i am worried cos mine is remapped

A more common cause of going into "limp mode" (that resets after you stop-restart the engine) is a boost pipe leak.

The OEM connectors seem really borderline even on standard cars, Check that all your connections are tight, all the clips are fine - the one that kept coming undone for me was the one near the EGR valve. There should be a rubber o-ring around the connection, and if replaced hastily can be twisted and allow some leak of boost (personal experience!) - not enough for you to notice but a "positive/negative pressure deviation" would cause "limp mode" and would show up after on a vag-scan.

You can find a boost leak by:

looking for an oily area at connectors

dusting with talc powder and driving hard for a bit.

If you search for the Brisk members with vagcom - you could find someone close to scan and see what that shows....
