skoda mapping

Featured Replies

was in my local dealer today pickin up some spares and to my shock was told they are an agent for revo and will do a gerneric remap for £399.

will give 170 bhp and around 290 ft lb

do all skoda dealers do this?? or will this be a sideline on the quiet lol

very tempting

I would of thought that they're doing as a sideline, where is the dealer?

bridgenorth, shropshire

i went to look at a red fabia there, they were shockingly bad,

they couldnt tell me the mods it had done, wouldnt admit it had a clutch slip, wouldnt put new rear brakes on when they were so badly needed, said they wouldnt have it valeted, and wouldnt move on price, for cash on the day,

Well I know my nearest REVO dealer (mega4) was in Hersham Surrey, about 35miles away from where I am, anyway they looked like it was a sideline too! I had to go around the back the main building where they sold VW's and into what looked like a double garage/carport which was where they did ther work! I mean all they really need is a laptop to check the car over before they upload the software! only took 30-45 mins!

Its the best value for money product/service I have ever bought, oh apart from purchasing the car of course!

Well have a look on the REVO website and see where the next local dealer is?

At £399, a few quid more on a bespoke rolling road map from the likes of Jabba would be a much better investment than a dodgy generic download. I paid £425 on a group buy IIRC and they applied my requests of bringing the boost in gradually to protect the clutch a little and make it less of a shock for my learners, as well as tailing off the fuelling at the top end to reduce sooting and protect the turbo. 180bhp and 312 torques, on their admittedly optimistic rollers.

Agree with corrado on this one - Jabba all the way, and bespoke if possible.

angel tuning did my previous fabia they were great, 300 quid and came to my house. great service

Remaps aren't a skoda endorsed service and despite what the dealer may tell you , your warranty will be invalidated.

As for Revo remaps themselves - there's plenty of satisfied customers on here

I had mine done with ANGEL TUNING as well, Great job.

Chipboost in scarbourgh are top notch! 175 Bhp - £200

My vote for Angel Tuning.....crackin service......and i'm askin to get my cel light mapped out when my Allard pipe arrives lol

Did you fit the pd 160 and green filter before having your map done or keep the standard one? whats the car like to drive now does it pump out more smoke have you had any clutch probs etc ? Just there is a dealer round durham way and was thinking of getting mine done but im scared my car will start to fall apart.:)

I am a bit concerned about the current trend of 'chipping' of the Fabias. The (standard) car components do not take too kindly to being pushed harder (clutch, flywheel, turbo, seat base, suspension and brakes). When I was looking to purchace my vRS, I found two clean examples, but the owners, when questioned, admitted that the cars had been chipped. I eventually found one that had not been messed with and got that one. I worry for future owners of these cars not knowing that the engine has been fiddled with - and the effects this has - and having a bad time with the car. Look at the Fiesta's from the 80's - it is rare to find a nice standard one now - and they command a premium price over the rest.

If the car is going to be used for a blast on the track now and then, the chipping will be part of a complete upgrade package (suspension, clutch etc) that will allow the use of extra engine output without too many problems, but I bet the car will still not last as well as one driven moderately, given regular services and left as standard.

Perhaps, yes. BUT not everyone who has had their car re-mapped drives it like they stole it:eek::)

I've had mine custom re-mapped at Jabbasport almost two years ago and I hardly ever really boot it. And if I do, it's NEVER, ever from below 2000 rpm, because I'm so paranoid about my DMF going!

I drove from Cheltenham to Rugby on Monday and acording to the trip computer my average mpg for that trip was just OVER 60mpg:rolleyes:

My long term average (again from the computer) over 85+ hours of driving and 3500 ish miles is still 50.4 mpg.

Of course, I'm no saint, but even though it's been mapped, I really don't thrash it at all - more often than not it's just a bit of 3rd, 4th or 5th gear short overtakes and then back to legal speeds.

Just my 2p worth anyway:O

Joe

Joe,

You sound like a decent driver and mechanically sympathetic Skoda owner .

However, around my way, there are many drivers who see the drive to work as if it was a qualifying lap of Formula 1:mad:. After a coupe of years these cars will be for sale (after a run through the wash, a coat of cheap car wax and a liberal dose of cockpit shine), and the modified ones are usually very tired by then. The types around here that requests the 'engine enhancement' usually want only one thing - first away at the lights, whetever the cost.

I know exactly the type you mean!! Ha ha!

Good God I must be getting old at 27!!!:eek::eek::eek:

i got my fabia from henrys in glasgow, i asked if they did tuning but they said no

Just about to pass on my unmodified Fabia vRS (should be saying goodbye to it tomorrow)...

Keep an eye out at Telfords Skoda, Carlisle. Black magic. It's a cracking little car...

Getting an Octy vRS instead. :D

I'm 31 with a remapped vRS fabia and i dont hammer it. Fuel economy is better as well with my mapped car compared to standard (it is you know......)

Most of the guys (on here for example) uprate all the parts that are prone to going after a remap.

Yes we all give our cars a "bit of a blip" at times but, not all modded cars look tired.......

I've got a tuning box on mine at the moment, which some say are the root of evil.

However I am aware that they can cause problems, so I have done some other small modifications to cope with the overfuelling, AND the extra power.

The 312mm brakes, and the whiteline ARB and SEAT Strut Brace firm up up the handling and stopping sides of things, making the car well able enough to cope with the extra power.

As for the overfuelling, I am no mechanic and dont make any pretences to be, however I have taken a few steps which I believe should hopefully keep the engine in tip top condition when faced with possible extra clag from the extra fuel. PD160 intake and performance filter to allow more fuel to be burnt cleanly, EGR system turned down to prevent clogging, CCV bypass to prevent clogging of turbo intake system, and a dose of millers sport 4 every 2 months, and forte injector cleaner every 10k to help clean out the injectors.

Not only this, I am aware that the torque delivery can be harsh, so a little mechanical sympathy goes a long way, I NEVER accelerate with more than a feathered touch from below 2000 rpm in 2nd-5th or 2500rpm in 6th. I have had the box on since 32k, the car is now at 41k and I have never had any clutch slip.

I reject the statement that ALL modified cars will be in worse condition/ not last as long as standard examples, however I do agree that a vast majority would be. You've just got to find a nice example.

Like you though, I would prefer to buy a well looked after standard example, which has been serviced at the correct intervals, then if I wish to modify it I would do it myself.

Although there are some well cared for modified cars out there, its just too much of a lottery IMO, unless the car is owned by a Tech or something of that manner, I would personally keep away. But thats me.
